Welcome to the Reverse Psychology Network, the Frasier Rewatch podcast where we go backwards through every episode of the show. Tonight, we are covering Season 9, Episode 22, Frasier Has Spokane, which originally aired on May 7th, 2002. Is this when Frasier actually takes seriously his radio show? We'll find out. I'm your host, Curtis Sheck. Joining me as always, it's our resident upside downer, it's Ryan Sansone. Curtis, I like it. I like the zest you're putting on there. You get a little fastball tonight. You also changed up the intro thing, which I didn't think you had the ability to do. I guess we're a network now. This is great. Also with us today is our bossy woodworker, it's Bradley Kirkston. Thank you. Thank you, America. And just like a good network, I'm connected to both of you. Could you imagine if Brad did any sort of woodworking? Multiple people would be dead, regardless of who's around. Dude, in seventh grade, this is actually a true story. We had sewing, and I know it's not woodworking, but it's kind of close. I was so bad at sewing,

The expansion game ↗
How this one works
Premise and outcome
- Ryan hosts a game in which Brad and Curtis form a team. Each round asks which contender expanded better and offers a separate bonus for guessing the context. Five points win; nine rounds are announced, but play ends after eight enacted rounds with an explicit team victory. The last numerical total is not stated.
RESULT STATUS
A winner is actually on the record.
Source-reviewed whole-game verdict. Team members share a team victory; this is not an individual tied victory. Unknown final totals remain unstated.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
KACL versus KPXY
The team initially chooses KPXY. Curtis proposes KACL, but the recording confirms his final spoken choice in the later exchange as KPXY. Ryan nevertheless credits a KACL change and awards one point while rejecting the guessed context. Literal choice and credited answer remain distinct. The explanation concerns real-life radio stations and antenna height. Brad gives both Nevada guesses in the side exchange; North Dakota is supplied as the correction.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Frasier versus Kramer
Curtis describes Frasier expanding from Cheers into Frasier and its later return, then chooses Frasier. Ryan accepts the context but says the correct contender is Kramer, awarding one context point and announcing a total of two. The recording confirms Curtis as the final respondent. Choice and context obligations remain separate.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Seattle, Boston or Chicago
The team chooses Seattle, reasoning about where Frasier grew up or lived. Ryan reveals Chicago and explains that he means NBA expansion teams in the city. The retrospective score check gives no point and leaves the total at two. These are the game’s stated facts, not independently verified sports history.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
East versus West
Curtis reasons from the Wicked Witch of the West, while Brad proposes East Coast versus West Coast rap. Ryan permits both context hypotheses for this item. Both choose West, which is accepted; the revealed context is empire size by percentage of the world, contrasting the British and Mongolian empires. Neither guessed context matches. The announced total becomes three.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Self-help versus sexology
After several suggestions, Curtis chooses self-help because more books were written about it. Ryan says the answer is sexology and denies the claimed bonus: the measure was copies sold of the bestselling book in each category, not the number of books written. No point is awarded. The recording confirms Curtis for the final response.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Sizzler versus QP
Curtis delivers the final Sizzler choice. The recording identifies Ryan for the short I think number of people, yeah contextual reply within the hospital-guess exchange; that phrase-scoped credit does not assign the entire deliberation to him or create a new team member. Ryan reveals QP and says the measure is restaurant expansion, citing location counts. No point is awarded. The optional slogan discussion retains uncertain round-versus-game-level ownership.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Dark Souls versus Far Cry
Brad delivers the final Far Cry choice, and Curtis gives the final clarification about expanding a series into multiple entries. Ryan reveals Dark Souls and compares expansion-pack ratings, citing The Ring City and Blood Dragon in the source wording. A score exchange moves from three to four without explaining a new award. That correction remains unresolved rather than being given an invented basis.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Nitrogen versus neon
Curtis reasons that neon expands as a gas and the team chooses neon. Ryan praises Curtis and gives liquid-to-gas expansion figures before explicitly declaring the team the winner. No exact point amount or final total is supplied. Choice and bonus-context obligations remain separate, but an unspoken score is not calculated.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Victory and an unused ninth question
Ryan says Brad and Curtis won. He then discloses the remaining question—men’s versus women’s waistlines from 1999 to 2016—without playing it. It is not a ninth enacted round.

Welcome to the Reverse Psychology Network, the Frasier Rewatch podcast where we go backwards through every episode of the show. I was so bad at sewing, my teacher had to take my thing and do it for me myself and still gave me an A because she felt so bad for me. That's a true story. I would question that, but I've seen you move. That makes tons of sense. Yeah, it totally makes sense. So my point is, if I can't even do that, I should have been near any woodworking. The fact that you think sewing anything is in any way, shape, or form related at all to woodworking is evidence you should never be put near a saw. Teacher saying the danger level of sewing was there. The danger level of sewing I can't even pass, let alone woodworking. Yeah, I get that. I hear you, Brad. Thank you. I agree with you and the teacher. You should have, just out of pure guilt and shame, that teacher gave you an A and I respect it. Yeah, could you imagine if I got a D in sewing? Why would you get a D? I don't know how you would possibly score points. Is there a written in the sewing class? And as we've already figured out where you guys went to school, you had Fs and we had Es. We didn't have Fs in my school, so. You gotta stop talking about this. It just doesn't make sense. Well, Curt, should you tell us about an adventure you had? Hey, Curt, did anything happen to you lately? Like, did you get married? Did you go anywhere? Yeah. I came back recently from my honeymoon. Would you like to hear about that? We would. Nah, Fraser's fine. Please tell us, what is a honeymoon? Start there. Tell us your story, Curt. God damn it. It honestly sounded sincere that Brad didn't know what a honeymoon was. So anyway, we went to Puerto Rico, beautiful weather, wonderful beaches. I swear to God, Curt, if this was just you humble bragging for 10 minutes, I'm going to be so mad. It's so great. And then we went on a jet ski. And then... We had the time of our life, we were in true love, happily ever after. Thanks, Curt. Here's what happens. It's day one. We were at this hotel. You know how hotels will have that bar soap for the hand washing? Sure. And I'm new to the whole wearing a ring game. So I wasn't prepared for the ring to sort of catch some of the soap from the bar. And so we go to dinner and I'm kind of feeling there's this waxy feeling in my finger. I'm like, there is some soap like stuck. And I'm going to go, I'm going to go take care of this. So I go to the bathroom and I take the ring off and I start rinsing my hand in the ring in the sink. Now I notice there is no grate. There is no barrier at the bottom of this sink to stop things plopping down them. You proceeded anyway at that because you're a maniac. Yeah. Well, I mean, it was, I really did have this sort of premonition of you are going to lose this ring just milliseconds before the thing fell out of my hand and went straight down the tube. No. Hi, Curtis. Are you serious? I'm being, this is not a bit I've come up with. There's no punchline. This is the actual truth. Everyone disagrees. There is a punchline. Hi, Curtis Shack. Lost my wedding ring on day one of my honeymoon. Oh, Curtis. It was like your first thing you ever did with it, basically. Oh my God. How did your significant other react to that? I have questions before that. Yeah. Is this the first time you took it off? We didn't go immediately after the wedding. So this was a month or two after the wedding. So I had been wearing it semi-regular. I was still getting the habit of using it. I wasn't wearing it every day because I'd forget to put it on. Also very Curtis. That's why he still has his. I had been wearing it long enough that I knew how to handle the thing. I disagree. So before we get to your husband's reaction, was the pipe successful? Because it was probably just, you could probably have just got it. Well, so I did try to like stick my hand, my fingers down there to grab it. No one's saying that. That's not what I'm saying. Okay. You're saying you can ask somebody to like unscrew the J pipe? What are you saying? You probably could have done it yourself. It's usually just PVC. And it's a, you got a P-trap in there. So like you, it has to, it's not going to flow down unless you, did you have the water running? No, I mean, I'll be honest with you. I did not even occur to me that I could myself attempt to disassemble the sink. Oh, very doable. This was an Etsy ring. This was not an expensive ring. This was not a, we spent thousands of dollars on this thing. Oh yeah. I just, why don't you just flush down your love then, Curt? I don't know who gives a fuck at that point. Why even wear a ring? I made a choice. Oh, here's the thing. It was kind of in a way and stay with me on this. In a way, I think this was a gift to my husband because, because you've lost your mind and he doesn't actually genuinely care. He's not upset about a ring. It's not something that matters to him really, but what he relishes is now he gets to point to pictures from the wedding where I'm wearing the ring and go, Oh, look at that. Or he'll like to, he'll, he'll be touching his ring and going, Oh, where's yours? Like he's really enjoying rubbing it in my face. That's pretty awesome. Yeah. Oh, wow. So are you getting a replacement one? Yes, it is on the way. Oh, good. Do you want us to walk through physics with you? The timing of this. So we're, we're releasing this in January, but this is actually being recorded in, in early December. I got a black Friday deal. Oh, nice. Oh, there was something else that was stupid. Of course. Well, let's hear it. So the next day you would think I'd be on my best behavior with, you know, keep your track of my things after this. Nobody, nobody knows with you at this point. Day one. The very next morning we went to the beach. I went for a swim. You found your ring. Very funny. I stood up and realized the glasses I chose to wear into the ocean were no longer on my face. Yep. That sounds like you. You're just on fire. I'm not a glasses wearer. Is this something that's happened to you before? No. Well, I have not spent very much time in the ocean, to be honest, but. It shows. It shows. I am a glasses wearer and I don't take my glasses off unless I really have to. You've also spent a weird amount of time in the ocean. I have spent a lot of time in the ocean and I do take my glasses off when I go in the ocean. Are you something Brad's the responsible one? Well, because if I, if I lose my glasses, then I'm really screwed. I'd rather just be blind for a little bit than forever. Oh, you didn't, you didn't get your glasses on Etsy? So I won't even, I won't even take them to the beach. They'll like stay inside and I'll just have someone walk me to the beach. Like I'm a 95 year old man. I'm farsighted. So I, I only really need them for reading. So I had to go to the drugstore and buy cheaters. I'm farsighted, nearsighted. I'm just blind. So, you know, it doesn't, nothing changes for me. You're, you're just not sighted. I'm not sighted. Yeah. I'm trying to think if I've lost any valuable possessions in my life. I don't think I have anything. Have you lost your keys? I feel like you've lost your keys before, right? Oh yeah. That's a pretty big deal. I was going to say, it's not that you don't lose things. It's that you don't value things. Yeah. You don't care about it. That's the difference. Maybe we're going to be tied to close my parents' keys at the dorm. Oh, that's right. I have a vivid memory of every time we went to meet you in your dorm to be like, we should go get lunch or whatever. It would be like a half hour of you searching the room for your stuff because your process for like entering a room was to throw your wallet, your keys, your whatever in any direction. It was always in the same place. It was always in the last pair of pants, but he never remembered what pair of pants he wore. You guys are both right though. I, the thing I would do when I walk into my room is kick off my shorts. Bear in mind. It's not like there was one pair of shorts on the floor. It was covered. And then his roommate at the time, Vitaly, his stuff would be there. So sometimes he'd be looking at Vitaly's clothes. You took laundry home once a like quarter. Once a quarter. I would have enough laundry that I could get through most of a quarter. First of all, in our, our freshman dorm, we had one, one laundry machine for the whole dorm or the whole side. Yes. Did you guys do laundry? I mean, I did, I did laundry cause I wasn't that close. I did laundry cause I was responsible. Yeah, but you probably went home to do it. But because I woke up so early, I wasn't an issue cause I would just do it in the mornings. Yeah. You would do it like 5am. Yep. Exactly. But you guys definitely had issues with that. And then I remember in our second dorm, there were so many washer and dryers. It was like insane. Yeah. Well, that was weird. That was a weird juxtaposition. Yeah. It was like 30 washer and dryers. I didn't have to worry about it cause I'd already bought a quarter's worth of clothes. So it was fine. Well, I've lost my ring. We've lost the audience for sure. Will Frazier lose Spokane? Let's find out. Let's get into this episode. Let's do it. We open with a moon rising over Seattle. Kenny is fretting about the impending expansion of the Frazier Crane Show to KQZY Spokane. Roz reveals her breakup with Roger and insists she is fine. Genuine question. Did they ever say KQZY or did you just make up that series of letters? It is absolutely what they used in the episode and it is genuinely difficult to say. And they show it in one of the scenes too, but it's fine. They show it? Yeah. We'll get there. It's fine. All right. He's got a lot to say about the signage in this episode. Yeah. A big signage guy. So how excited are we that it's the first episode of the season that we're back at work? We've done this before. We've started ending a broadcast and that doesn't mean it's a work episode. True. But Ryan, I actually have a question for you, which is we talked in, I think, season 11 about how there was, I think they mentioned losing Spokane and how his listenership was dwindling. And I'm wondering. I couldn't remember if we actually lost Spokane or not. I just remember. I don't think they actually lost it. I thought they just talked about losing it or did they actually lose it? Curtis. Yeah, I thought that's where I was at as well. Yeah, I thought they talked about potentially losing it. So to me, a Seattle based show expanding to a smaller regional city also in Washington doesn't seem like a huge expansion. So I'm wondering, Ryan, do you think, given this is clearly seen as like a big move for them, do you think that the next nine years of this show, Frasier will be a radio host? Or do you think eventually, like that's a job he's going to get mid series and he does something else early seasons? I would be shocked if he didn't start this. I mean, maybe that's like first episode, but I would be shocked if it was not that he wasn't a radio show guy first season and first, I mean, first three episodes at least. When I think we know from season one of new Frasier, I want to say he did 15 years of TV. Okay. There was definitely double digits of radio. So I'm, I'm pretty confident we're getting his whole radio to wear through kind of cheater mask and stuff. Just, just nothing but Seattle for a decade. Yes. I think that's pretty, I would be shocked if we did. I'm guessing that he is, I'm guessing Seattle is more interesting than it is in the back three seasons. Cause right now Seattle seems pretty pitched through. I have another question for you, Ryan. That's also as important as Curtis's question. Were you excited to see Kenny for the first time this season? Um, no. Okay. But, but I, he, he's, he's got some of the, some of the best lines of the whole episode and he's, he's good in this first bit as well. Are you saying no, because you don't like the character or because you're indifferent to the character? I'm indifferent to everyone that works at KACL. Got it. Including Frasier and Roz. Got it. Were you guys surprised at this? I mean, I guess it's not so surprising, but this Roger storyline is really just keep on going. It's three episodes deep of this breakup so far. I would say this might be four episodes of mentioning this. And she mentions that it was six months in this episode later. So we're only going to get six months with this guy, but it warrants four whole episodes of like processing the end of it. Yeah. I said, I think we got three episodes of Roger talk. Um, and I think, I think it's very clear. We're not going to see Roger. Oh, he's okay. Look, I'll be honest. I've watched the whole series multiple, multiple times. I don't even remember who Roger is. So, you know, it's going to be fun for all of us. I got an accidental spoiler of Frasier. Ooh. I think now is probably a fine time to share it. Uh, I, I don't believe I, I didn't read it in depth once I realized it was going to be a Frasier spoiler, but I am pretty sure what's her face whose name now escapes me, but Niles is ax. I don't believe we're going to ever meet on camera. Guess who? Maris? I had a feeling you were going to, you were going to hear that somewhere. Yeah. I got a clickbait. There's like, yeah. Characters have never showed on camera. I was like, Oh great. I love, I love clickbait. I go like 60 and Frasier pops. Fuck. I know who that is. Yeah. I think Curtis, let's just, we can tell you. Brad, I, I, I, I slightly disagree. I, I think you're right that there's no point trying to gaslight Ryan to believing that he might be wrong. Yes. You, you, you, you're right about that. But here's the question. What punishment should we invoke for his failure to let it unfold naturally? There was no way to know that it was a Frasier article. I was so deep and I was just like enjoying it. I was like, yeah, I've never heard of this show. Never heard of this show. And then as soon as Frasier popped up. Oh yeah. I just, I really thought you were going to tell someone we had the podcast and they were going to say that to you. That's how I thought you would find out. That's interesting because as of right now, like it's clear she'll be a more prominent character, but like as of right now, that would not be a big deal. She's referenced like three times a season. Right. So Frasier gets some flag from Roz and he kind of reacts. I have to think that the like hearts in your radio line is as weird as they both act. Although my body will be 300 miles away, my heart will be firmly lodged in your radios. Well, it's also interesting is there's no audience. I can see like if you, if you're playing to an audience and they, they don't react or they react the wrong way, like replying with, Oh, well that one didn't work, but he's just speaking to a microphone in a room. Like there's nobody to, there's no audience to feed off of. Roz shoots him a baffled look and I felt unjustified. It's like he said weirder stuff that you didn't react to. I feel like sometimes they have Roz give a look just for a reaction and it's like, she didn't, she did not need to give a look for that. Ryan, in fairness, it is very likely that the times that Frasier said worse things, but Roz didn't react. She just simply wasn't listening to him. That's fair. Fair enough. Daphne is taking Niles to Bananarama and Marty has brought home a piece of mahogany. He wants to work into a table. I don't think Bananarama makes sense for what, what Daphne was wearing. I don't think that gave Bananarama vibes. I gotta ask is, I should have Googled it. Is Bananarama a thing? Absolutely. Should I know what this is? Absolutely. Yeah. They were a big band in the eighties. Oh. I mean, when I say big band, I think they had one song, but still. Are you thinking of the bananas in pajamas? Because they were pretty, they were pretty big. No. Um, Bananarama was, they had a decent run in the eighties. Bananas in pajamas. Have you guys ever found anything outside, like a piece of wood or anything, a furniture and brought into your house or apartment or place you live? I mean, probably. Did he say that was found? Because that is an absurd piece of wood to just come across. It's huge. I thought he said he found it or something. Did he? It was like a construction site. Yeah. Yeah. It was a construction site. Yeah. The guys who were carrying it that he paid off were not movers. They were just construction dudes who he bribed to bring the piece to them. You guys may remember this, and I'm not sure you actually know that this is true, but when I was living with one of my roommates in college, not Vitaly, the other one I lived with, who wasn't Curtis, she found the sofa next to a dumpster and she brought it into our apartment and we had it for a year and a half. Ew. Yeah, that's a little gross. I mean, I'm sure, I can't think of a specific piece, but I'm sure I must have gotten some furniture off the side when I was in college or something. Seems like the thing I would do. You didn't really have furniture. That's also true. Yeah. Well, we once lived together and six months into living together, someone asked us and we just moved in. Yeah, you still don't have furniture, Brad, so that makes sense. How much do you think you have to pay off to construction workers to help you steal from their job site where they're getting paid? Like, that's got to be a high price for someone who's planning to, like, build something and flip this. Well, no, wait a minute. Are you under the impression that it was, like, building material that he was taking? Or I got the impression this was scrap they were just going to toss anyway. Correct. That's what I got. It's a huge, clearly functional piece. Do you think that was scrap? I mean. That's not what scrap looks like. Okay. It's enough that he turned the one scrap piece into an entire piece of furniture. I don't think you know what scrap wood is. I want to know, were you surprised that Marty is a bad woodworker? Did that trick for you? No, not at all. That made tons of sense. He's wildly incompetent. I knew you'd feel that way. And I'm pretty sure it wasn't scrap wood. I'm pretty sure it's part of the job site and he paid these guys off because he's corrupt. Why was there ketchup on it then? I don't know. Why is there ketchup on any piece of wood, Curt? Things happen. I only put ketchup on the wood that I'm tossing. So. Yeah. What do you think? Someone dabbed it up there. Oh, it's got some ketchup on my cheek. Let me use this piece of wood to wipe it up. Do you think maybe those construction workers were using it as like a makeshift table for their lunch and he saw it and saw, and that's why he thought it'd make a good table is because he saw them sitting around it. 100%. Yes. Yes, I do. That's my head kingdom. Okay. You're telling me there's an 80s band I can't wear an Armani suit to the concert for? Why not? He would have looked really weird at an 80s concert in a whole suit. He looks really weird anyway. Every time, and I guess because we're watching a reverse order, I actually forget that Daphne still lives with them and how weird it is. It makes no sense. No. And he says he's waiting for her. And when he said that, it shocked me. But she should really just accept that he's going to wear a suit to everywhere. I don't think we've seen that in the show so far. You guys talk about it sometimes, but they're not as suit crazy as you both act like. Really? I don't know. Okay. I've never thought of them not being suit crazy. Yeah, because you've watched the show in regular order. But you're watching a man plan to go to a rock, I'm assuming rock or pop, a concert. Fair enough. An 80s band concert in a suit. And you don't think he's suit crazy? First of all, I didn't know it was a concert. I still don't know it was a concert. Brad's not a reliable witness. So I don't know. That's a good point. I thought maybe it was like an on ice thing. Because of the costume she's wearing? That made no sense no matter what's going to happen. She dressed like a greaser. That's on track no matter what's going down. You will know their one song. It's Cruel Summer. I'll listen to it later when it'll sound right. Did someone cover that recently? I feel like that song is like an ad for a TV show. It's that song. Once you listen to it, it's in so many TV shows, movies. Like you will know exactly what I'm talking about. You want to based on what Brad sang, but... No, never. Never in a million years. I'm going to be listening back to this. I'm going to hear Brad's. Oh, I should pause this and listen to the actual song. And I'll go, nothing like it. I'm sure of it. And it's Cruel Summer. The difference between Brad singing it and the actual song is like Armani's suit versus if Brad tried to sew a suit. Like that's the difference. Oh, that's... Yeah, look at you. Look at you tying back jokes. So proud of you. I was thinking on the episode like after I watched it and I couldn't remember any of Marty. And it turned out it was just because I enjoyed how incompetent he was the whole episode. Nothing stood out as jarring. I was just like, yeah, he's useless. Those tracks. This B storyline is like a very simple one. And so I could, I totally understand that. Like it doesn't like take a lot of attention or time. It's probably of the 23 episode, probably three minutes. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we'll talk about the A plot, but the A plot doesn't take much attention either. This episode feels somehow like, it did not feel like a drag. It didn't feel like a lot of filler. It flowed very well. Yeah. But it felt like it should have been shorter than it was for how light each scene felt. I mean, the runtime was 12 minutes, right? See what it felt like. You're right. When I finished the episode, I was like, oh, it's already been 22 minute episode. I was shocked that it, yeah, I agree with you, Curtis. We get a title card getting sullied. At a press conference, Frazier is ambushed by the reveal that he is actually replacing a beloved Spokane institution, Neil Sullivan. Sully shows up with a healthy dose of passive aggression. Before we get into Sully, who is the guy that we get greeted with? He's super recognizable. His name is Joe Flattery, but he was in a movie. I think you've seen it before. I'm going to give you one guess. It involves the game of golf. Oh, yeah. Happy Gilmore. He's there. He's just around. You suck, you jackass. Is that his whole thing? Pretty much. Besides that, he pops up in a bunch of random TV shows throughout the late 90s, early 2000s. Wasn't he the dad on Freaks and Geeks? Yep. He was the dad or the eight? Yeah. I think. Yeah. He was in Freaks and Geeks. He wasn't one of the high school kids. I know that. No. What, like nine episodes or whatever? He was in. He's just one of those guys that are just in like random TV shows from the 90s, early 2000s. Yeah. Joe Flattery. What a rock. He's one of those guys where you see him, you're like, I've seen him before. Yes. Even the first time you see him. Yeah. And I got to tell you, he knows what's up because he is pushing hard the courtesy liquor. And I think he's got the right idea. I think it becomes evident very quickly why he is so insistent on that and why it is faulty for Frasier not to. So when he's pushing it, because I didn't have a lot of thoughts other than free liquor is fun. What did you think the issue was? I was just confused why they were having that many people at a press conference in Spokane. Well, that's token. I didn't think it was there's a problem that he's trying to cover for. I thought it was just, this will be boring if we don't have liquor. Yep. I thought he was going for like, these reporters will grill you. They tear up everyone they've ever met. Like, we have to get them liquor or they're going to light you up, Frasier. Not the first time. The second time when he talked about the liquor, it made it seem like. But I agree with Curtis. The first time, it just seemed more like lighthearted. And then the second time, he like started talking about the people. Yeah, I was talking about after the second time. Got it. Okay. So when the reporters show up, they immediately reveal that this guy was fired and Frasier has to replace him. And I'm kind of curious. He's such an institution. He's so beloved. Everybody is so into him. Why do you think they fired him? Oh, there's so many good guesses you can make here. The real answer, but they didn't make it clear, would just be it was probably easier just to stream Frasier's show than hire their own person. No, that's not it. That's not it, Brad. It's definitely an allegations thing. It's just how deep we are. That's what I'm thinking. Yeah, like he did something really horrible. It hasn't come out yet. The press doesn't know. But they're like, we just want to quietly get rid of him. I don't think it's really horrible or else they would just expose it. I think he like slept with the station manager's wife or something like you think it's like a personal reason that he's dismissed. Yes. Yes, I do. That tracks. Maybe this will come out in new Frasier. This will. It will not. It will not. They're never going to revisit any of this. On the one hand, you kind of do get the impression why he's so beloved. He's offering to buy drinks at Mulligan's and he's really kind of got this folksy vibe to him. He's got a true politician vibe. Yeah, because he's also so like kind of aggressively like dogging on Frasier, like, but in like a humble brag kind of way that like you can see why he is definitely probably an awful man to work with. Are you kidding? You're not besmirched Sully like that. He was. I love Sully. I was. I wanted to ride her dad with Sully the rest of the episode. I was so mad when we stopped having Sully. He was played by some actor named Bill Hayes. She's mostly known for being on a soap opera called Bold and the Beautiful. Man, he like looked kind of familiar. Obviously, no one's seen whatever you just talked about. I think he just looks like other people, I think is the real problem. Oh, you know what? I said Bold and the Beautiful is Days of Our Lives. I'm sorry. All right. Well, now it makes more sense. Why don't you say Days of Our Lives, Brad? We've all seen that. Anything else? I think we can talk about how great Sully was some more. I mean, he was great. What do you love about Sully? Yeah. He was personable. He was dynamic. He really lit up Spokane everywhere he went. He knew the city very well. What didn't you love? Other than, oh, you guys don't like him because he was competent at his job, which is the first time we've seen that all series. If somebody's competent at their job, it makes me look bad at mine. Okay? It just makes me feel bad. What I thought you were going to say is he just totally upstaged Fraser in this whole scene. Yeah. Anyone who's doing their job correctly would. It's the same thing we saw when they got massages. Like, competent people at their jobs do that. Yeah. The only way you would have liked Sully more is if he was a foil for Marty instead of Fraser. It would have made more sense if it was like an old guy battle. Oh. It would have been great. And he just killed Marty and took over his role the rest of the series. Oh. Oh. Now I'm living in a dream world. We're not going to get into the Bananarama way that would happen. And like, what are you talking about? Curt, I'm already writing fanfic. Oh. Oh. All right, Paul B. Should we move on to the next scene? I guess. I don't know what there is to move on to, but sure. Yeah, let's do it. Daphne has been roped into helping Marty and winds up taking over. Somehow Marty switches places with Niles, who finds her bossy attitude as unsettling as his father's. This was an interesting scene for us in the Upside Down. Niles was basically mad because Daphne talked, which makes sense. She doesn't talk the rest of the series, but man, he really, he got butthurt real quick. Well, I want to back up a little bit. So I feel like the setup of this whole thing is incredibly strange. So first of all, Niles has to pass off the job of helping Marty to Daphne, but then he has to show up anyway, somehow. And Marty has to leave. So she's only there to help Marty, who's not there. And Niles isn't supposed to be there, but Niles is there. Like, it doesn't make any real sense. It's a convoluted Frasier thing where it's just like, it's too much. It's too many moving parts. I'm not worried about the setup. I just wish there was a payoff. Yeah. A beautiful table. Well, that's not the payoff of this sequence. If we're talking about payoffs, I think we get one of the best lines of the episode, which is, Never said I was good at carpentry. Carpentry? This is gluing felt. Yeah, that was all right. I liked, I also liked when Marty was being like, yeah, that's a tourney thing or whatever. And she's like, it's a Chutky, you idiot. But first of all, it's a Chucky. It's not Chutney. It's not an Indian jam. I said Chuck with a C. Well, it may not be correct. It's not a Chutney. I know what Chutney is, Curt. Don't be insane. I like that. I like showing Marty's incompetence. Okay. I did like when Niles said, you know, later we can go home and listen to Valkner for lovers. What do you think that sounds like? Just Valkner. Yeah. I don't think it's different. Is that the right title? I thought it was like an instructional thing. What? What? I thought it indicated Valkner was going to teach you how to love. No, Valkner, the composer. Whatever. No one knows who you guys are talking about. The point is, I thought it was still like whoever this composer is. I thought it was like him teaching you the ways of love. I didn't know what it was. Still don't really know what it is. Well, I guess you're not a big Valkner fan. You're going to find out when you listen to the episode, buddy. I know for a fact, neither of you two do. I'm pretty sure Valkner is like a pretty famous composer. You can't say pretty sure and then say that he's famous. Look, I don't know. I've heard of this beef oven guy, but I don't know what you're talking about. He's like a motivational speaker. I'm pretty sure he hits the keys. Is this both your attempts to do me? Because I'm not trying to do you, Brad. Curtis's was much better. I might have purposely used that phrase, but it's all good. I know you've been listening to a lot of Valkner for lovers, but none of us want to do you. No, that was not my Brad impression for the record. But Curtis does a better job at it. Curtis does a much better Brad, yeah. We all agree. You call me Caris? I said Curtis, but we can call him Caris. Maybe I'm just hearing you guys wrong today. Okay. Is that Caris with a carry or a C? How do you spell it? I think it's with a Q. Ooh, Caris. Fraser's broadcast is deluged by angry locals, and Seattle isn't calling in. Roz calls in as a plant and makes up a lame problem. Fraser succeeds in getting her to finally open up about Roger, and Spokane chills the fuck out. We've seen Roz imitate a caller before. Am I supposed to believe this was her first time doing that? Because she does a terrible job. Well, there's a lot of things in this episode. I feel like the whole thing about recording from Spokane, none of it made any sense. Well, no, wait a minute. The idea of, like, you're launching in a new city, you're going to record from there locally, I feel like that makes some sense. I think that's fine. Correct. It's a radio show. A radio show. Yeah. Not for a first radio show when they have to test things out. It turned out that it wasn't even playing in Seattle. That was crazy, but irrelevant. I think it's less to do with being the first episode. It's more that the station manager is even more incompetent than Kenny. You would expect that. No, you would expect Spokane to be less equipped than Seattle. Gosh, is Kenny the 18th? That's the more confusing bit is why Kenny. That's the truth. As incompetent as Kenny is, he somehow is in a pretty major network. We see him being a minorly competent this episode. You know, when they have, like, the station talk and no one knows what's going on, like, it sounds like he kind of knows some stuff. Can I tell you guys who the first two callers were? Because it's bonkers ridiculous who they were. Was there two callers? Wow. Yeah, there was four callers in total in this scene, but the first two before Roz's story, caller one was, Ryan's going to have no idea who this is, Scott Hamilton, who was a figure skater. Okay. Why do you think Curtis will know the figure skater Scott Hamilton? Because he likes the Olympics. No, he doesn't. I do like figure skating more than most of the Olympics. Thank you. Great. And caller two, you definitely both will know. Well, actually, Ryan sometimes is terrible with names. Was Daryl Hannah. I do know that name. Who is that? She played Bill Clinton on SNL. That's not who Daryl Hannah is. I can't even, that was a good one though, Curtis. Hurrah. She was in the movie Splash. She was on, she was in Wall Street. She was, she's just been a lot of, she was in Kill Bill Volume 2. Splash, a famous movie. She was a mermaid. It's one of those movies that, for some reason, like, our parents' generation thinks a really big movie. Yeah. It's good stuff. They didn't have the internet, did they? They didn't even have the Ukrainian internet. Hey, 20 minutes ago, you were really impressed with that Ukrainian internet. We get the whole deal with Roger and the breakup. And I'm wondering, we're about to spend six months with this guy. Like, we're about to get into a relationship with him and Roz. And I feel like this is where it's going to be interesting from the upside down because, Ryan, how are you going to feel about this guy knowing when they're like lovey-dovey and having a great time that he's about to tell her there are no fireworks? I'm not confident we're going to get any of that. Yeah, you said that earlier. Yeah. You don't think you're going to say- I mean, forget not seeing it. Like, if she came back all lovey-dovey, that would be fine for Curtis's prompt. I don't think we're going to get much of that. I should have thought how Roz knows. I mean, she went a week without mentioning they broke up, so. I thought this was a departure of her character. As usual, it's hard to- I think the writers like to bounce around with who Roz is and how she behaves. They use her to suit their needs, writing-wise, more than the other characters. I get a theory for you. Great. We love theories on this show. When Fraser's doing the bit earlier where he's like, you know, sowing seeds of doubt into Roz. No more Roger. I know. No, I don't believe I've ever met anyone else with that combination of gentility and brute strength. Well, not anybody single anyhow. I'm not helping, am I? No. Do you think there's any chance that he knew the Spokane launch would go poorly and he needed a backup plan? Like, he needed to get her vulnerable and weak in case this didn't go well, so that they could have this very predictable on-air bit. You think he was grooming a vulnerable person to leave on air? Yes, I do. I mean, I think it's in play. If it is, it's the most competent we've seen, Fraser, by far. If that is what you think he's doing, I've got an even darker question. When he tells her on air that she should lean on her friends because they care about her, do you think he meant you should sleep with her friends? I mean, that tracks, Curt. That tracks. Yes. I think we've done it. I think we've figured it out. Fraser isn't an idiot. He's just a bad guy. He's a monster. Yes. This is why he's going to get fired from Spokane, doing exactly what Sully did. I took it a step further. The last two callers, by the way, was Olympia Dukakis. Half a chick up in Paris, I give the eye teeth to take a whack a ways up. Bury the lead. You're doing this whole thing and you want to say Dukakis, didn't you? I don't even know if that's how it's pronounced, in all honesty. Say what you will, but she ran an amazing presidential campaign. And caller four was Keith Carradine. He's just an actor that's been in a bunch of random stuff. He was in Deadwood. Okay. I didn't think the sincere bit was very good. Yeah. No, I agree. Yep. I did not feel real. It didn't feel real. Yeah. She went from being fine to just melting down in a way. Again, we don't really see it from Roz. Even if it was earnest and earned, it wasn't a very good meltdown scene. Yeah. No, I agree with you. It just, it seemed almost like fast, but also long all at the same time. Yeah. That is dead on. It was fast and long. Yeah. This is interesting. I don't know that I agree with either of you. I thought this scene worked pretty well. I think that she had sort of a natural transition from kind of literally phoning in a made up problem to kind of opening up and then having a real sincere moment. I'm not sure I would credit the writing because you may be right that it is kind of just rushed and weird. But I do think that Perry Yelpin puts out a pretty good performance here and really sells the transitions. She's not the problem with it. I'll say that. But I don't know. I didn't find it compelling. We're missing like a couple lines or like a scene. I feel like. I feel like we needed more talking about this. Yeah. It just seemed to go away so quickly. I wonder if part of the problem is like this feels like they unleash the dam of emotions and then fill it back up right away. But we're going to get like two more episodes of doing that again and again. Like this is the third time we've seen her deal with her breakup. Yeah. And you would think they would have like mentioned that in the next episode. Remember that time you broke down on air when we intro Spokane but never comes up. I mean this is easily her biggest breakdown we've seen so far. Absolutely. Well and speaking to what you said earlier about Kenny's competence. He right away jumps in with guys you're on air. You can't be like just you can't give us dead air. You got to get back on the radio. He got up at one point and hugged her. I was totally fine with the scene up until that point. He runs in. I'm like yes this is good. Do like some funny bits. Yeah. And then they jump back to Spokane series. Like that's stupid. I think we could have done more jokes. I don't care that the people of Spokane are getting fixed. Like that doesn't that doesn't help me. I understand your your reaction to it. I just I I I thought it worked. Oh cool. I didn't think it worked on any level. Daphne has finished the table and both Marty and Niles come out of hiding. Curt the episode's been rough but thankfully. We got a powder room alert. Let me just pop into the powder room real fast. Yes we do. Do we call this a double powder room alert Ryan? You stole my line. I'm sorry. You want to take your turn? Yeah Brian why don't you do one? Hey Ryan would you call this a double powder room alert? No do with more zest. Hey Ryan I got a question for you buddy. Would you call this a. Not like you're going to attack him. Do it like you're enthused. Don't sound like you're going to get fired from Spokane. Mr. Sansone. Are you excited for the double powder room? What is this tone? Yeah Curt I think we got a double powder room alert. I see I have my big double juicy and you have yours. I love that after all that you're just like well I know what the end is going to be so I better address this to Curt. Love that. Loved that. So what do you think? You guys go. I don't know. I was just excited to see the powder room and play. I mean I was too to be honest but I will say that the thing that kind of threw me off I'm not entirely sure I guess what the purpose of the felt was. I didn't google woodworking and why you would glue felt to a table but the felt is gone. There is no felt on this table anymore. So I'm not really clear why they were gluing felt in the first place. Anybody have any guesses on that? Oh no. No one. No. No. And no. Not at you. And if you are a woodworker please comment on after this episode and let us know. I've never bought furniture and got any felts included. So I don't know. I don't know what to tell you. If you know what they were doing write in at reverse psych pod at gmail.com. If you want us to build some furniture for you write in at reverse psych pod at gmail.com. Maybe it's just because the last scene was so long. Were you the only ones when they went back to the scene? My first reaction was oh I forgot about this. It's not that I forgot about it. I was genuinely shocked. Usually the structure of this show they throw away the B plot early. And you finish on the big emotional scene. That they decided to end on this instead is an odd sequencing. Especially because the tossed salad is also this. Yeah that's exactly what I was just going to say. They knew the emotional beats they hit were weak. So they said let's not close out the show that way. Let's let people have some fun. But Curtis is right. It is a little weird that this was not only the last scene but also the tossed salad and scrambled eggs. Like they just kept going. Maybe it's the A plot. I don't know. Frazier plays this out with Niles and Marty staining the table. Niles Ty is stuck to it. Yeah it's stupid. We've talked many times about how real Frazier does a bad job with his scrambled egg scenes. And this this might be the worst. This might be the worst. We say that at least five times a season. So this is number one. I think we can still get worse every time Brad. I think my favorite part of it though is that they're clearly working really hard on like they're still trying to stain this thing. They're brushing it with the brushes. But it is fully stained. There is not a spot untouched on this table. It's done guys. You can stop. I liked when I could turn it off because it ended. That was my favorite part. Well with that in mind maybe we should talk about how we felt about the episode. Brad how did you feel? Oh is that felt like what was on the furniture? Yeah I'm being clever. Brad what do you think? Nice. I'll start with the positives. It flowed very very well. We were saying that earlier. It did not feel like a long episode. But also nothing fun accomplished in this episode. I didn't feel like anything crazy happened. The Spokane thing I thought they were going to play it up a little more. And it just like kind of felt flat. And it became all about Roz and not really about Spokane. There's a reason we didn't see Spokane come up much the rest of the series. Correct. So I didn't hate it. I didn't love it. I'm going to give it a I'm going to give it a B. I'm honestly surprised it's that high the way you guys are talking about this. Because it's not terrible. There's nothing that terrible about it. It's just weird. You also have to remember Brad pretty much only got D's and E's. He doesn't really know how C's, B's and A's work. Well, for me, I would say that I felt really good about this episode immediately after watching it. Like I felt like this was a good, decent Frasier episode. But then when I was scrolling through my list of EPS to rank it, it was very quickly apparent that this was not very special. It is definitely middle of the pack. But I don't think it's as bad as I'm guessing Ryan's going to say it is. I put it at 28 out of 61. Oh, wow. Charity case. I think that's I would have Curtis. I would have probably thought you would have put it in the mid 30s. So it's not terrible, but I think you have it a little high. Brian? Like Brad, I'm going to start with the positives. I thought the old guys did pretty good. Marty and Captain. Check. Sully. Check. Now to the bad. The rest of it. The rest of it was just awful. I think we are genuinely, and I'm not doing this for hyperbole. I think we're on our worst three episode stretch from everything I've seen. And that includes, I'll say, new season, season one of New Frasier. I think this three episode stretch is fucking abysmal. The episode I'm giving to three, two, and that's part of it's being dragged down because I know we're not building to anything. I don't know what the hell is going on with the end of season nine. It is a mess. I think it's a lot of nothing that builds to a lot of nothing. It's boring. It's not that funny. It's not that sincere. It's not that sincere. Everyone's just getting a paycheck at this point. Thankfully, we get some comeuppance in season 10 because this show should have clearly been canceled by now. I feel like you started this rewatch not liking it because it was hard to start from the end. But pretty quickly in season 11, you kind of got your sea legs. You were like, I get what this is. I'm kind of enjoying it. You were enjoying this rewatch or watch. But season 10, there was a dip. And then now season nine is a crater for you. I thought season 10 was going to be the crater. I am shocked with what season nine is. You're still in the crater. You haven't got out of the crater. How long do you think this is going to last? Do you think this is indicative of the whole season? I know this. Season 10 is a clear bump up from whatever the hell we're in right now. I don't know what is going on. I don't know where the writing has gone from Frasier. But my God, this is a lot of nothing. When do you think the show is going to start peaking back up to some form of quality for you? For my sanity, I hope we get something in season nine. Maybe like they tend to throw out a good like first half of the season. I'm thinking maybe we just mail it in after the Christmas up. Episode 16 on is trash, I guess. I don't know. Okay. If they have like 13 good episodes, okay. Maybe they just ran out of writing. We're nine seasons in. This character existed in Cheers. Like I can see that. You know, it's okay, guys. That's what happened. And we hired better writers for the next seasons. But man, this is wild. I didn't think we'd get anywhere near this point. I gave this a three, two or whatever. I'm downgrading the other ones as well. Like this is just garbage. Curt, I don't know if you know this. I didn't like the episode. Now we're going to play a game. What kind of game? Only one man knows. And what will we be doing in this game? Expanding something with expansion game. Ryan, tell us what the hell we're doing. Good news. Like the season nine writers, I mailed this one in. But I'll try my best. In this episode, Fraser and KACL expanded their audience. In this game, I'm going to honor this act by expanding your knowledge. In each round, I will present you two to three combatants. And you guys will have to determine which was better at expanding in some way, shape, or form. I will not provide any context. It's up to you to deliberate and determine the context. I'll give you a bonus point if you're guessing. Are you saying about the individual rounds? Or are you saying about this game? Because right now it sounds like you're saying no context for this game. Either way, Curt. Either way. It's going to be great. I'm excited, Mr. Sansone. Is that what we should call you doing this game? You can call me Ryan. Okay. Rye bread. Got it. I will give you a bonus point if you can figure out the context, by the way. Okay. So there are nine rounds. You win by getting... What? Nine rounds? What is this, a boxing match? Sorry, I thought you threw up. I was just trying to make a bad joke. Oh, it worked. Unlike a boxing match, you win by getting five points, including bonus points. What? And is it just me versus Curtis? No, it's you and Curtis are on a team. Oh, we're on a team. Got it. Okay. And we're boxing you? Yeah, you're facing me. Okay. Yeah. And we get five points, including bonus points. You want to explain what that means? Curtis, stop asking questions. I said each round, you're going to have to pick who was the better participant at expanding. And if you guess the context for the question, you get a bonus point. Okay. And we're working together. Yeah. That's right. Just for the audience who might be a little bit lost right now, this sounds like one of those games you have to kind of play to learn. So we're going to just get into it. So I'm not sure we're going to learn as we play, but it's fine. This is another rendition of the expansion game. All right. Round one, you've got KACL versus KPXY. So your job is to figure out who did a better job expanding. K-A-C-L or KPXY? How did you even plan this? You didn't know it was KPXY until 20 minutes ago. That was not the one from this episode. Oh. You'll recall a Q was involved. This, uh... Oh. KPXY was the... I'm not going to give you context. Shut up. Just answer the question. That was the one she almost, uh, Roz almost left, uh, Frasier for. Okay. I feel like we should go with anything that isn't KACL. Don't you agree? Yeah. Well, because KACL is only shrunken. Like, they lost Frasier by the end of the series. And, yeah. All right. So we'll go with the other one. KPXY. Do you think KPXY expanded better than KACL? Yes. In what fashion? Oh! Oh! Are they the... They're the... No, no, no. I think... I take it back. I think KACL expanded more because maybe was KPXY the team that they faced off in the weight loss episode? And they won, right? Or no. Yeah. They... They... They lost. So they gained the most weight. So KPXY expanded more in their guts. Sure. Let's go for it. You're right. A little bit. KPXY is the team they faced off in the weight loss. It's also the station Roz left for a brief second. I knew it was the same. Yeah. Yeah. They're the same. But that is not the context. And also, it was a weight loss contest. They did the opposite of expanding. Curt, you're an idiot. The winner is KACL. So I did this based off the real life stations. KACL expanded its H-A-A-T. What are these letters? What is happening? It's misgracious. H-A-T is height above average trade, of course. What? Okay. This is a real station? This is a real station. And the reason it won is... In Seattle? No. It is in... Do you want to guess? Do you want to guess what state? Nevada. Nevada. It's in North Dakota. Bismarck, North Dakota. That was close. The reason it won is because KPXY is absolutely not a real station. There's no... The only time that's referenced is in Frasier. Wait, wait. KACL is real, but KPXY isn't? That's correct. That's kind of surprising. It is surprising. We got one point? No, you lost. You picked KPXY. No, Curt has changed it to KACL. Oh, sorry. I stopped following because he got really confusing with his answer. Yes, okay. Then you get a point, I guess. Yeah. Par for the course for this game. Yeah, okay. We got one point. We only need four to win the prize. That's right. Are you ready for round two? I think so. Desperate. Frasier versus Kramer. I don't think legally Curtis were allowed to pick Kramer to win anything without getting canceled. That's a really good point. Yeah, Frasier expanded from Cheers to Frasier to once again, Frasier. Kramer graduated from Kramer to being canceled. So I'm going to say the expander was Frasier. You nailed the context, but you did get the question wrong. Or you got the answer wrong. So you get a bonus point. That is absolutely the question is who expanded to which shows faster. Kramer did appear in Signpot. He also appeared in Mad About You. But not as Kramer, right? As Kramer. As Cosmo Kramer. Frasier, of course, was in Cheers. Frasier knew Frasier. So you nailed it. What did we get wrong? I'm so confused. He was on an episode of Mad About You before Frasier. Yes. Oh. So before Frasier premiered as a show, Kramer had already been himself. I almost said himself. He had played himself in two shows. No, he played a non-racist person in two shows. Great. So what is our bonus point? Is that one point or half a point? It's just one point. It's a bonus. It's not a bonus half point. That'd be weird. So we have two points right now, Curtis. You're right. You guys are crushing. I think so. No, you are. You're definitely crushing. You're doing way better than I do. All right. You ready for round three? Yeah. Sure. Seattle versus Boston versus Chicago. Let's try to figure out the context first. Well, the context has got to be the places Frasier's lived, right? Oh, that's true. Maybe where he lived the longest? Which would be Boston. Would it be Seattle? He grew up in Seattle. Well, it'd be Seattle because he grew up in Seattle. Yeah. Yeah. I think we should go with Seattle. All right. Seattle. Seattle. The correct answer was, of course, Chicago. This was the number of expansion NBA teams that were featured in that city. Boston has the Celtics. They were an original team back in the 46th. Seattle had won. That was the Supersonics, of course. Chicago. I thought we weren't going to get context, and now I suddenly really want to live in no context. A thing that would have been helpful to know is that it's not all Frasier related. Okay. Doesn't give context, Brad. Doesn't give context. I don't know what the fuck you want from me, Brad. Chicago had three teams, but only two were expansion teams. They had an original team, and then they had the Packers in 61, and then the Bulls in 66. And I've never been more riveted. Round four. Brad, do we get no points? Yeah, we got no points. No points for that. So you're a two still. Okay. All right. Ready? Yes. No. Do it. I want to hear some. Be a little nicer about it, Curt. Pretty please, will you give us another wound? Round four. East versus West. Oh, that's the whole thing. Well, the Wicked Witch of the East got crushed by a house, so I would say the Wicked Witch of the West expanded more. Brad? I should point out, Brad, Curt's super into witches stuff after Agatha All Along. You wouldn't know that. Don't worry about it. Welcome to the Agatha All Along podcast. Can you dig it? I think it's more a rap. Like what rap expanded more? Like East Coast rap versus West Coast rap? And in that case, it would still be West Coast. So I think I have to agree with you, Curtis. Well, we don't agree on the context. Can we submit two contexts? In this case, sure. Okay. That means we got both wrong. We have the same answer. The correct answer was the West. The West had the- Let us celebrate our win. All right. Enjoy it. Three points, baby. Okay. Now you can tell us how we got something else wrong. The West had the best empire by percentage of the world owned. So the British Empire represents the West. They had about 13.7 million square miles. 26% of the world. The East was the Mongolian Empire. They captured about 9 million square miles, 17% of the world. So the West won that one. I don't care about sports. I don't- Okay. You know what? I don't think there's more sports. Spoiler. This is just from my memory, which isn't great. But I don't think there's more sports. Isn't there only one left? No. There's nine in total if we get to five. But Curtis, we gotta take this seriously. We could win the game on the next question if we get both of them right. So stop lollygagging and let's take this seriously. Thank you, Brad. Ryan, we're done lollygagging. Please present the question. We could win this. Self-help versus sexology. How many books on each topic? You think it's that, Ryan? Curtis? I know what it is, if that helps. Okay, good. But that does help because sometimes I question. I'm hard-pressed not to pick sexology whenever it's an option. Things Ryan wants to learn more about? Well, if it's things he knows what he's expanded his mind about, we know it's not sexology. Yeah. But he's kind of a slouch on self-help. How about, you think it's like topics that people in Florida are more involved in liking? And why would it be that? I'm just trying to get as random as Ryan's brain is. I think it is, I have no better answer than yours, Brad. Self-help because there's more books written about it. Okay. Yeah, let's go with that one. It is. Fucking bananas how close you guys were. It is about books, shockingly. The answer is sexology, however. We got one point. No, you didn't because it was about copies of the best in each category's books sold. Okay. So the best sexology book is The Height Report. 50 million copies sold. That, of course, is how women can have better orgasms if we just eschew society's beliefs. Self-help. Jonathan Livingston Seagull does the life of a seagull. Sold 44 million bucks. Fucking crazy. Curtis, you can edit all of Ryan's explanations. It's fine. It really is putting me to sleep. You don't think it's interesting that the best self-help work is about a seagull's life? You guys are crazy. So crazy. Four rounds to go. We could end this now, Curtis, as long as we get two more points. We could end this now. Us being good at this will be the mercy killing we're looking for. Yes. Let's go. I'll jump to a fun one. Ooh. I like that. Sizzler versus QP. I don't care what the topic is. We're going with Sizzler. Sizzler is the choice of America. Boy, I want to know what QP is. Yeah. What is QP? He's not going to give us context. Obviously can't answer that. Okay. I can't pick a good Sizzler, Curtis. But here's the thing. I don't think we factored in enough that this is a game Ryan designed to hurt us. I'm not sure he knew exactly what he was designing. He knows we're going to go for Sizzler. Sizzler gives you choices every day. Yeah. But it could be. What if the topic was which place sends the most people to the hospital? All right. We're going with Sizzler. Yeah. You know I did think about that because they did have an E. coli outbreak. That's the Sizzler way. But you guys got it right that it is the restaurant, but it is not. Wait, what's your context guess, I guess? What do you think the expansion is? I'm still trying to figure out what QP is. Or are you saying number of people sent to the hospital? I think number of people, yeah. Let's do it. Why not? We know what's wrong. Why not stand by it? Yeah, why not? Let's draw this bitch out. It was which restaurants expanded the fastest. QP was a burger restaurant that predates McDonald's. McDonald's. They at one point had 400 locations. Sizzler only had ever had 270 locations. Fun thing. If you Google QP, it's just a naked baby is their mascot. Well, Christ. So we got zero points is what you're trying to tell us. Great. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I can't imagine why it shrunk from its 400 restaurants to nothing. Do you want to hear their slogans? Maybe. I really do. Okay. I got three for you. Your grandpappy ate here. Was the grandpappy like the old man who grew up from being the baby? No. Okay. Definitely not. Definitely not. But we cater to all folks. Probably a racism thing. Yep. And then hamburger pickle on top makes your heart go flippity flop. Is that true? That does make you want a hamburger. That's how they got 400 locations at one time. They're down to four or three of them in Lima, Ohio. Oh, they exist. Don't you live near Lima, Ohio? Not enough. Oh. Road trip. You got someone come down to go to the four QP locations. I'm in. All right. Dark Souls versus Far Cry. Round six. I thought this was round seven. Yeah, you're right. Sorry, buddy. You got me to jump that order because I want to do a fun one for you. It's all good. Thank you. I appreciate that. Dark Souls versus Far Cry. Far Cry. These sound like video games. Are these not video games? I have no idea, Curtis. I don't think we're going to be good at this one. Let's go with video games that expanded and then you choose one. Yeah. We'll say expanded their series to have multiple entries. And which one do you? So it's Far Cry or what was the other one? Dark Souls. I feel like Far Cry sounds more familiar somehow. I don't think we're right at all, but let's go with it. Far Cry. Sorry, what are you saying the expansion of these quote unquote video games are? Series. The fastest to expand to multiple entries. Okay. You were so close. This was video games. You said Far Cry? Yeah. Yeah. Sorry, this is Dark Souls and this is the rating of one of the random expansion packs from these two prominent video game series you guys should definitely know. Expansion packs are a thing specifically in games. That's right. The two people that go no video games. Dark Souls 3, The Ring City got a 9.1 according to one random guy on IMDB. Far Cry 3, The Blood Dragon, only 8.1. Okay. Are we still stuck at three points? Correct. You're at four points. You need one point to win. Heck yeah. Four points? Heck yeah. Heck yeah. Nitrogen versus neon. Nature what? What was the first one? Nature what? Nature. Nitrogen. Oh. Nitrogen versus neon. Okay. Neon is a gas that expands quite a lot. Like it spaces itself out real far. Like it might be the most expansive gas. Let's go with neon. Yep. Let's go with that. Curtis Shaq, you fucking nailed it. Nitrogen in a liquefied cryogenic substance forms expands their gas from one to 696. Neon goes from one to 1,445. Fucking crushed me. Did we just win the game? You fucking won the game. And there was one more question you could have had. Okay. That was of course men versus women's waistline from 99 to 2016. Yeah. Glad we did do that one. Congratulations, Curtis. We're a team. Congratulations to you, Brad. We are winners. And you know what winners do? We win gracefully. Brad, Ryan? I didn't forget your name. You're so graceful you forgot who I was. I thought you were just combining our names. I'm not going to remember the every name of every little person. But you know. Wow. Ryan, why don't you tell us? You know how this podcast ends. Why don't you tell us what to expect next week when we cover the previous episode? It's season 9, episode 21. Cheerful goodbyes. We lose a permanent cast member from the KACL station. Her name was Patsy and she was the woman on the show with the most lines, even as just a series regular. Okay. Now I am a little upset because, Ryan, you made such a big deal about how you were accidentally looking up information. You accidentally found out key details about the way this show works. And now you're going to tell me that you didn't just look this up. You got the name right. You got the context. Like, this is exactly what's in this goddamn episode. This is like one of the big episodes of the show. What the hell? Yeah, yeah. Why? You can tell just with three episodes ago they mailed it in. Clearly they were building to cheerful goodbyes. The normal name of the fourth to last episode of the season. Well, I guess we'll find out whether that actually happened or not next week. That will do it for us. Thanks to Gavin McLeod for our theme music and thank you for listening. I suppose you don't really care if this podcast is successful. You would never take five minutes out of your precious day to go to Apple Podcasts and leave us a review. You don't use Facebook, YouTube, or Instagram, or TikTok. You aren't curious what happens if you search for Reverse Psych Pod. Lord knows you can't be bothered to shoot us an email at reversepsychpod at gmail.com. For myself, for Ryan, and for Brad. Night! Night! Sorry. Oh, sorry, sorry. You spoke for us. Sorry. Sorry! Shit. Shit. Frazier's broadcast is deluged with angry calls. Frazier... Sorry. Well, that's the one that happens when you make up a word for your introduction. Yeah.
