Welcome to Reverse Psychology, the Fraser Rewatch Podcast, where we go backwards through every episode of the show. Tonight, we are covering Season 9, Episode 5, Love Stinks, which originally aired on October 16th, 2001. Will Roger live up to all the anticipation? We'll find out. I'm your host, Curtis Jack. Joining me as always, it's our resident upside downer, it's Ryan Sansone. Oh, Curtis, are you excited to bring the stink tonight? Ooh, you know what? I actually really hate the word stink. It's like moist for me. Let's talk about that in great detail. Why do you hate the word stink? What do you mean? Well, before we get into it, let's talk about the other man with us today, a man we are embarrassed to introduce to anyone we know. It's Bradley Kirkstone. There it is. Thanks for calling me a man twice in one sentence. I appreciate it. I was confusing. Did you mean to do that? Was that a Freudian? That was because I started to naturally pivot to introducing Brad like a person would with their thoughts. But instead, I pivoted back to reading what I wrote. And so I just didn't jive at all. I have no ability to cold read. I was going to say, you could have ad-libbed and talked about how he was the stink. You could have done all that. None of that. You tried. You tried to save it. I just plowed ahead with what was written. You're just like, Brad, you're such a man. Please come back. Talk to us. Tell us about Frasier. If there's anything our audience now knows is I'm the manliest man in the history of this podcast. So we're off to a great start.

Someone brought rules.

The games, the premises, and what everyone brought to the table.

Curtis asks Brad and Ryan to guess whether each occupation appears more or less embarrassing than garbage collector on a CareerAddict list. Although the source list is described as unordered, he uses its numbered positions for the answers and later acknowledges that limitation. These are the game’s supplied judgments, not verified occupational rankings. Correct answers generally receive one point; no final numerical totals are announced.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Pet-food taster

Brad and Ryan both choose less embarrassing. Both receive a point; Curtis gives position 14. The conversation imagines the work as a party conversation or a job nobody knows about.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Telemarketer

Both choose more embarrassing. Curtis instead gives less embarrassing, at position 1, so neither receives a point. The physical voice of the second response remains unresolved in the source record.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Firefighter

Both choose less embarrassing and receive a point. A suggestion that firefighter and garbage collector are close earns no bonus. The recording confirms Ryan is the respondent addressed by the name transcribed “Brian,” and Curtis gives list position 16.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Broadcaster

Brad chooses more embarrassing and receives the point. Ryan chooses less.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Promotional mascot

Curtis clarifies that he means a promotional sign-spinner, such as for Little Caesars, rather than a sports mascot. Ryan chooses less embarrassing; Brad chooses more and receives the point.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Animal urine collector

Brad chooses more embarrassing, the supplied answer. Ryan chooses less, saying he would brag about it at a party; Curtis reminds him to guess the expected answer. A later “more” echo has unresolved ownership and is not counted as another response opportunity. The wrap-up places this occupation at 39.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Fast-food cook

Brad chooses less embarrassing; Ryan chooses more and receives the point. Ryan distinguishes a young person’s first job from an adult career.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Mortician

Ryan chooses more embarrassing and is described as catching up to Brad. Curtis gives position 32. The record confirms Brad does not give a comparative answer.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Restroom attendant

Brad argues for less embarrassing. Ryan chooses more, matching position 24. The group distinguishes an attendant offering mints from someone cleaning the bathroom; Ryan would give up the cleaning to remove the attendants.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Customer-service advisor

Brad chooses less embarrassing, matching position 7. Ryan distinguishes a job that is less embarrassing to disclose from work he finds secretly more embarrassing. The recording confirms Ryan selects more embarrassing; the distinction in his explanation is retained.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Paint-dry watcher

Brad chooses less embarrassing and doubts the list itself. Ryan chooses more if the occupation is real, matching position 25. Curtis announces that Ryan has tied the game, without stating a total.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Animal inseminator

Both end on more embarrassing and receive a point, matching position 34. Ryan changes his initial reaction after the factory-farming explanation.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Soldier

Both choose less embarrassing and receive a point, matching position 5. The law and exile jokes do not change the rules.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Attribution unavailable
Animal masturbator

Ryan explicitly chooses more embarrassing. The opposing answer is less, supported by the later comparison of position 18 against garbage collector at 20. The recording confirms Brad is the declared winner. No final numerical score is supplied.

How do you feel about the word stink? I don't hate it. I've never really learned. I've never really thought about it in like a bad way besides the fact that things stink. But like... I mean, that's not really a positive word. So that's a little confusing. I mean, it's... I guess I never really had an opinion of it besides its use. Okay. Do you like the word moist? Again, I don't really mind the word moist like other people do. Yeah. Moist doesn't actually bother me. I'm just aware it's a bother for others. You can hear why people don't like the word moist though. Like, you know, it sort of hangs in the mouth a little bit. It's uncomfortable. I get it. Well, and I think like stink, it also has a connotation that... I mean, sure, you can think about like moist cake being a good thing. Moist cake is the single example of good moist. I'm as moist as a snack cake down there. Right. Exactly. Like if you have a moist basement, that's not a good thing. Are you talking about as a metaphor or are you talking about in your home? What is a metaphorical moist basement? It makes me as damp as a cellar down there. Oh, I... Take it back. Take it back. Asked and answered. Off to a great start. I've never had to deal with that. Fair enough. Well, I have a question, especially for you, Ryan. I'm going to ask you... Well, both of you really, because both of you somehow, against all logic, have positions of authority at work. And I want to know, do you know the people? The names of the people that you work with? Fraser doesn't know the names of the people he works with, but do you? So I can go first, Ryan, if you don't mind. I don't mind. So I know everyone's name. That's not... That's the first part of the battle. I know everyone's name. But remembering their names and calling them the right name has never been a skill that I'm good at. I mean, you don't really know our names, to be fair. No, no, no. Can you claim to know the name if you can't remember it and can't associate it with the person? Isn't that all of knowing their names? Yeah, Charlie and Rick. Exactly. Stupel. I commonly call people the wrong name all the time. Ryan, on the show, I have called him Dad before. I've called him Brad before. Multiple times for both counts. Very annoying. Um, I've called you women's names on multiple occasions. Well, and it's not exactly related to the name thing, but I think it kind of fills the same category for me is that you also famously once saw a person at the gym and thought to yourself, is that me? I did have an out-of-body experience. Genuinely not. I genuinely thought I was looking at myself. And by the way... It turned out to be an Asian man. That part is true. I was going to say that, but you could have... Okay. People don't know. Brad's not Asian, to be clear. Correct. I do not identify as Asian. That part is true. And, like, no one visibly would look at you and think you're Asian. No. I don't think so. No. So, going back to the original question, I think I know people's names, but I'm not good at remembering people's names. I'm with Curtis. I don't know. What do you... How can you prove you know people's names? What does that even mean? Maybe you know people's essence or something weird, but you definitely don't know their names. I run Summer Camp, and someone asked me if I know all 900 kids' names, and I was laughing hysterically, because I don't even know a quarter of their names, let alone 900 of them. Does anyone know all 900 kids' names? You don't have to know that. That's actually what I said, and the person got, like, really offended, and I was like, I don't care. That person's a psychopath. They are. That is psychopathic, but I do have to say, just reiterate one more time, I think what you're maybe getting at, Brad, is, like, you can't call their name, you can't say it to their face because you can't think of it, but if somebody said, hey, Charlie, you'd be like, oh, right, I remember now. Like, you remember once you're reminded of it. Oh, I'm not confident with that at all. No. No. That is not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying I don't want to admit that I don't know people's names. That's what I'm saying. Hmm. Okay. Muddy in the waters, as always. Come on, Curtis. I don't know what to do with that. Ryan, how about you? I fairly recently went back to the office, part of that big national return to office push. I never had worked in this office before, and there is, I think, exactly 10 people in this office. I know four of them and two of them report to me. And one of them I report to. So there's like one other person's name I know. You made an effort to? I learned one guy's name because he calls me by my name every day. So eventually I made the point to like, you know, see his name card and be like, okay, that's your name. This is something a coworker has told me and it's been really helpful. I work at a place with lots of people and we all come in. If there's a new person, I'm not going to learn their name until another month or so because who knows if they're going to last. So I'm not going to learn their name the first day. I just don't feel like names are that big a deal. If you can tell I'm talking to you, like, why do we need to do a name exchange? How's that valuable? Yeah, it is not that hard to go through life not knowing people's names. You just interact with them without referring to them by name. The only place where you get into trouble is when you're trying to talk to somebody else about them. And you know that guy, funny hairdo, that's really annoying. What's his name? It's Brad. Like, that's the only time you really need to know their name when you're dishing about them. If you're dishing hot gossip, usually the person, one of the two of you is going to know the person. Because gossipers, they know names. Have you ever had that at work where you work with someone else who's bad with names and they tell you a story using someone else's name that you work with and then you like, you're like, I can't believe that person did it. And you figure out they're talking about the wrong person. Never once. Never once does that happen. One of the things I've experienced is that we have a cafeteria at work. Oh, look at Mr. Fancy Pants. Must be nice. It's pretty nice. How's your daily baguette or whatever? I have a thing of Pringles in my office. Every day I go to the like deli area and I will order a sandwich. Deli area? Brad, are you hearing this? I'm so upset right now. The in-office delicatessen. What? I guess I just don't know what's normal and what's abnormal. They have a room with three microwaves. They have like specials. They have a salad bar. They have a hot bar. They have like a grill and they have a deli. A sushi chef. They fly in from Japan every morning. On Tuesdays. You work in a market district? What is this? Brad was making a joke, but it's not a joke. On Tuesdays, they bring in a sushi restaurant and we have sushi. Are you serious? I hate you so much. I hate you so much. I'm seriously serious. The reason I bring this up. There is a guy that I see every day. His name is Jason. And I know that because other people will come up to him and be like, hey, Jason. And he'll be like, what do you want? Mark. And they have like an exchange and there's clearly like a bond that they've built. And I'm always curious because it's literally like turkey sandwich, whatever. Like I don't know how people interact with a stranger in that way and turn it into like having small talk. I don't know how to do that. It's like a town vibe thing that I just don't. I'm not for it. It's called, hey, how's your day going? How are you getting on name exchange basis with the deli guy? Exactly. It's a process. Process. I don't understand. I saw a process like I just don't need to be a part of. Like we're just we're doing a commerce exchange. Why do we have to be buds? Well, the thing is, like under normal circumstances, I agree with you. Like I don't have any interest in like making small talk and being friendly with with most. But I see this guy every day. And it feels weird when so many other people are having like this human interaction and I'm just like ordering a sandwich. Like I feel like I would like to be friendly and like say, hey, Jason, how's your day going? This is where you and I depart. I think you're doing all the right things. But you you wish you had a relationship with this man. That sounds like a different story. Curtis is married. Curtis is married, guys. Well, should we find out about Ross's relationship that she's trying to cultivate in this episode? Can you say that again and not call her Ross? Yeah, I heard Ross as well. Shall we pivot into the episode and talk about Rachel and her journey with a garbage man? Good job. Good job. Yeah, sure. We open with a monorail running through Seattle. Frasier is upset because his co-worker scrawled a limerick on the bathroom stall, framing him as an elitist. Ross has finally met Roger, the garbage man. Oh, gang. It's here. It's happened. It's Roger time. How exciting. I'm over the moon. We're good to meet him. Wait, we really, really do. Finally, this 20 episode backwards arc is finally over. And it's literally one and done. He had the whole season as a character. One episode credited. Curtis, when did they break up? Was it the second to last episode? Second or third. It was the end. I think they had three episodes of Breakout. Yeah, so third to last. So that's episode, you know, let's say 22. And this is episode five of the season, Curtis? Uh, yeah. So 17 episodes worth of Roger. Can you believe Roger is President Fitzgerald, Grant? I know. I know we haven't gotten to that scene yet, but yes. What do you mean? He stops by here. What do you mean? No, it's the same scene, not this part of the scene. Oh, whatever. We obviously have to talk Roger like a big amount. This is the most confusing, like, okay, if you're doing the forward watch, this is so fucking weird. If you're doing the backwards watch, this is like a regular story. We get to meet him at the end. It's great. And they have a happy ending. They do. Yeah. But okay. So before we get into the scene fully, coffee. Okay. I could be wrong, but I listened to it a few times trying to pin it down. I think Frazier orders a vanilla lot. What are the odds? No, he says latte, you psychopath. I'm telling you, I heard lot. You think he said vanilla lot? I did not hear that. You'll have to. Yeah, I don't know. I'm going to plug it in. I'm going to plug the sound bite in and we'll let our audience decide. Did you say latte or did he say lot? A vanilla lot. Yeah, it'd be very obvious. He said latte because it's what he said. I don't know what's wrong with you tonight. To continue on with what Curtis was saying, he got a scone of vanilla latte and that's his order. Hold up. Hold up. He didn't get a scone. He got an instant. As for a comfort food, this is disgusting. A cranberry muffin. Yeah. I thought he caught it a cranberry scone. Cranberry muffin, please. And latte. Let's say he did, which he didn't. But let's say he did. How is that your go-to? I'm depressed. Let me turn things around. A vanilla latte and cranberry anything. Horrible order. It's a baffling. It's a baffling choice. So, Curtis, I have to ask you, the English major, what did you think of the limerick? It didn't make a mark on me. I did think it would be funnier. It wasn't really funny. It's a bathroom stall joke. And a limerick. Like, it's a very specific format. Yeah, it's tough to make a good joke out of it. And I don't think that the centerpiece was the joke itself, right? I think it would have been funnier if they didn't read it. There once was a man, Fraser Crane, who says he can feel your pain. But he acts like a snob to the guys at his job. And I think he's totally lame. I just think it's impressive that somebody who is scrawling on a bathroom door took the time to craft a poem. Like, that's a lot for a bathroom stall. Or they didn't have smartphones. Relax. They had free time. It's like when you see old buildings with all kinds of ornate architecture. Yeah. Elaborate statues. Well, you know, they had free time. They could write weird poems on doors. It's fine. And they drank vanilla lots. They definitely drank a lot. The joke isn't about the limerick. The part I really enjoyed was Niles critiquing the limerick. I thought that was great. Made the whole thing worth it. I think this entire scenes worth of Fraser and Niles being elitists and sort of insisting they're not. When Fraser first says, they think I'm elitist, Niles, like, oh, yes, you are. Of course you are. Right, right. As a term of endearment. But I just I love the little jabs there sarcastically making it. The people that he's trying to, in his mind, win over. Like, he's upset that they don't see him as a man of the people. But he does still see himself as above them. I think that plays out really well in the episode, though, too, right? Like, he thinks he wants to be a man of the people. And we very clearly establish he does not. He says so outright at the end of this. Which I think makes the scene even more fun. Yeah, I think what Fraser is feeling in this scene is not so much wanting to be a man of the people. What he really wants is to be liked. He wants to be liked. He doesn't necessarily want to interact with or be close to these people. He doesn't actually want to be part of their lives. He just wants them to like him. I wonder, do you think he wants to be liked or do you just think he wants to be not hated? I would say not hated, but he would tell you liked. I think he wants to be a door. I think he wants to be lavished with attention and with admiration. But he will absolutely settle for not hated. So then, you know, Ryan's right. We do get to finally meet Roger in this scene. I didn't believe it. I was gobsmacked. I was like, he's coming in? Yeah, and when the actor walks in, I think it took me a minute to place him. I was like, is that the guy from The Walking Dead? No, that's the guy from Scandal. He did look a little like Rick. You know what? He looked a lot like Rick mixed with Tom Holland for some reason, but obviously taller because I think both of them are short. I think you just tapped a fantasy I didn't know I had. This better not awaken anything in me. Them being tall or them getting it on? Oh, no, tall. Definitely the tall thing. Great. Happy for you. They all exchange some trash jokes and, you know, Roz hits the terrible one at the end. And as soon as she goes to meet Roger, they're like, yeah, obviously it was a bit on the nose. Well, and I don't think the joke aged very well. And I don't mean that in the sense that it's like insensitive for 2025. I mean that she says, at least I didn't get dumped, which we know as reverse watchers, she absolutely will. Well, that's great. You're right. This is so much better in the reverse. It's nonsense in the right way around. Such a weird storyline. We would have 100% if we watched this in this order thought, oh, yeah, we're going to see Roger three, four or five more times like the actual Roger. Yeah, we're getting at least four eps out of this guy. Nope. Well, actually, I think it's weirder the other way because I could see introducing a boyfriend and then just forgetting about him. This show does stuff like that. But in the reverse order, they talk about him so much. You're like, OK, we know we've got like a six month storyline with Roger. We're probably going to see him sprinkled throughout. And every time he comes up, he's just a mention. He's not actually present except for the first episode. Why was that? Why do you think that they went that route? This is really confusing. He was pretty good. I can't explain it. I don't get the I don't feel like that actor was such a name at the time. He wasn't stunt casting. He was just a working actor. Curtis is right. He was really a working actor. He was in like a billion things in one year type of thing. So maybe he was busy trying to like get something more permanent. But it could be. I don't know. Ryan, you had at one point think you were just never going to see Roger. Right. And you were OK with that. I was I was convinced there was no chance we were seeing Roger by like six references ago. Is it weird to you that we finally seen Roger? Do you feel like you have a little closure? I do feel like I have closure and I feel like I wouldn't have it going the other way. OK. I mean, it's really weird seeing him, though. We get a title card. He kicked Spatsky's butt in Reykjavik. Marty is going through Niles's childhood mementos. Daphne finds it charming. Hurt. Big news. The cranes went to Bryce Academy. Is that big? And is that news? It's definitely. I think so. I think it's news. Pretty sure the episode where they started with the flashback. We've seen Bryce Academy. I mean, I don't think we knew it was the name. Pretty confident they said the name. You've been sweating for weeks. You've just been like, what was the name of that school? Why didn't they tell us? I had it up on a cork board. Just question marks. You've got one thing of yarn. Red yarn. Just pointing from school to a question mark. It's circle of it. Now you officially get to know that they went to Bryce Academy. I've taken down the cork board. We're all square. I know everything in the Frasier universe again, except what Maris looks like. Guess who? Maris? We're going to return to this storyline a couple of times. I'm just going to say this because I'm curious. Like, usually there's enough meat in each scene to really dive in. This, to me, felt like a storyline that could have the whole storyline, all of the scenes of it, just been summarized once and we could have talked about it and been done. What do you think? So it's two scenes and we'll get to the other one later. After the scene, about like three scenes later, I was like, are they just going to ignore that? Like, I really wasn't sure if they were ever going to go back to this. I think we could have. I liked this one. I really liked the, when Daphne sees, she's like, oh, I bet you were so cute as a kid. And then she sees the picture and she's like, ah. It was, it was great facial acting by her. It was such good facial acting. But no, you're right. Curtis, everything you're saying is true. It was, it was cool. It was cutesy, but nothing great. So I think there was a story from childhood that Niles was briefly enlisted in baseball. Was that your game face? Oh, no, no. I just lost a tooth due to an errant pitch. Tell her who was pitching. I was. Have you ever done that, Bradley? No, but I did it myself with a bat that I was swinging once. That feels even more difficult. How did you do that? What do you mean? Just kept going around and around in a circle because I hit it too far and I was too tiny. What do you mean? Oh, but it just hit me in the head. You say I kept going around and around and around in a circle. What do you mean? The bat was heavy and I was thin and just went too far. You swung so hard that the bat threw you around like a 720 degrees and then eventually bopped you on the head. Correct. I was young. I was like 23. I'm just kidding. I was like a little kid. I would pay to have that footage. Frazier concocts a scheme to win back the station staff. A party. Roz is hesitant to bring Roger. We start off with Frazier asking Roz for help, right? And then he immediately makes fun of her. Yeah. Well, he does this a lot. I know that he has respect for her. I know they're close and friends and that friends can have this kind of banter, but it does sometimes just seem like he just doesn't respect her. I don't think that's true, but their relationship's insane. It's unlike any other relationship I've ever seen. It would be totally above board if he wasn't her boss, though, right? Like you could all the rest of it would be fine. But then you always throw in the fact that, you know, she works for him. It's so confusing. Yeah, that's a good point. If they were just co-workers, you'd be like, OK, they're close co-workers, but they're not. They're weirdos. Right. They're weirdos. They're definitely weirdos. What do you think of this idea, though? Does this even seem like Frazier to invite all these like plebes to his apartment? Yes, if he wants something out of them and he wants them to like him. So, yes, it wasn't surprised me that he was doing this because when he has a goal in mind, he'll do anything to get there. OK, counterpoint, though. There's no way he would ever invite Noel to his apartment. I think he would have thrown it elsewhere. I think he would have had it like at an event hall of some kind. The problem with an event hall is that they're really expensive. And by that, I don't mean that it's expensive to rent out a space in like a hotel ballroom. What I mean is it's expensive to build a new set. Oh, why? We've seen that set. We, you know, like the Michael Keaton preaching in a weird room. Look, when you get Michael Keaton, you can build, you know, one wall and a stage. Niles giving us all germophobia, talking to children. Why can't we reuse those sets? Again, it was built for Michael Keaton. We get to that scene. Marty plays a role in that. So maybe that was the excuse to do it at the apartment so Marty could be there. 100%. That's 100% the reason. Although he wasn't, I mean, he didn't play a huge role. In a couple of funny moments. We probably could have thrown him more into the Niles Daphne storyline. Part of this is not just to endear himself to these people. He also wants to portray himself as a man of the people. So maybe he feels like he needs to open up his home. I would not invite people to his ritzy ass apartment to prove he's a man of the people. I mean. You can't even hear people from the kitchen. That's a fair point. I'm just saying that maybe his logic is if I rent out a place, it will seem even more like I'm fancy. Almost everyone in there have never even seen a balcony. Forget being invited to one. Frasier has two great lines in the scene when he's talking about Roger and calls him a refuge collector. I think he says refuse. Refuse. Did I say it wrong? Yeah. You said it in a malicious way. Okay, sorry. A refuse. You also said the wrong word. You said refuge. You said refuge. I'm not hearing a difference. You threw a G in there. And you know what the most embarrassing part is? I wrote it with an S, so now I just can't read. Refuse collector. That's what the Brits call it, right? Yes. And I think he's referring to Roz when he calls, does he call her the wrecking ball of congeniality? I think so. Is he talking about himself? Maybe he's talking about the party? Yeah, I think he's talking about the party. It's a wrecking ball of congeniality that will tear it down. Yes. I think it was the party. And that's what you would out of a party. I want someone to describe any party I've thrown as a wrecking ball, blank, blank, blank. You know, whatever after that. I want wrecking ball to be part of the description. Roz returns home from a fun day out with Roger and Alice. Roger gifts Alice a trash book before he explains why his career will make him the perfect husband and father. This was so crazy. Like, we don't think we're going to see Roger. Then we see Roger. Next thing we know, he's holding Alice. Hold her fucking eyes. We barely even know. This was bananas. What a wild start to this scene. I kind of get where Roz is coming from in terms of being embarrassed by dating a trash collector. I kind of see why she feels the way she does. She's not embarrassed yet, right? That's the next bit. She's building to it. It's like a slow burn. This scene makes it harder to connect the dots to how she gets there, though. Yes, he's too nice. He's way too nice. She asks, like, are you ever, like, a little, you know, embarrassed to be doing this type of job? He's like, well, it pays well. It gives me good benefits. The time and the schedule means that I will always be present and available for my family if I have a family. By the way, Roz, you have a family? Like, he is, like, going out of his way to present himself as a perfect partner for her. And he's not doing it in a gross way. He's doing it in a genuine way and in a way that is endearing. And they're very playful. There's a lot of chemistry between them. Like, it's wild that she can't just, like, fuck it. Okay, it's sold. This scene should have been at the end of the episode. It's weird to do it before the party. It does not make Roz look good that she continues to be so hung up on the he's a garbage man thing. I mean, you could kind of understand it if he wasn't, like, the perfect dude. If we didn't meet him beforehand, it makes all the sense in the world. You know what he needs? He needs a little bit of blue collar in him. Like, he literally gives a book. He's got zero blue collar in him. Yeah. Like, if he was a good man, a decent man, kind and gentle and wonderful partner. But, you know, a little bit, you know, into things that she's not into. Or a little bit rough in ways that she's not comfortable with. Like, that might make more sense. If he was rough at all. Yeah. The most genteel trash man in the history of trash. Yeah. It's literally just the job. That is it. Just the fact that that's what he does for a living. That is all it takes for her. He's also so close to Alice, which I don't, timeline-wise, she just met him, right? Like, it was really weird. You would think that if you're a single mother, particularly then, but really any time, and you're dating a new person, I'm not saying you should hold off on involving your child. But you probably want to vet the guy for a while, make sure he's not a weirdo or a creep before you, like, start having him hang out with your child. The only thing I would say is we don't know how long they've been dating. We only know how long she told Frasier. Eighth date max. It's hard to say because we don't get an exact timeline. But I would say that we know that it's relatively new because she is introducing him as new. And we know that when they break up, she timestamps it at, like, about six months. And this would be about that amount of time in terms of the episode releases. So... We know it's not the first date, right? Like, that much is very clearly established. But it's somewhere between, like, the one and eight zone. Yeah. And he has ingratiated himself with the fam. It's wild. I guess it does sort of make sense, though, like, why she likes him and why the whole trash collector thing isn't a problem until she has to tell other people about it. Until now, it's been her and her daughter just going out with this guy. Now she has to introduce him to all of... Especially considering her boss is Mr. Fancy Pants Alitas Frasier. Why does everyone assume I look down on the common man? I guess I can see why suddenly she's being hit with, oh, how do I feel about that? I was just kind of not thinking about that before. It is weird to throw that to Roz, though. Like, her whole character is that she's loose, right? Like, it's not like she's the most distinguished lady about town. Right. Also, it is relatable, though, right? Like, you could see why someone would be embarrassed to say that that's what their partner does. I get it, but it's just... I just wish we didn't meet him right here. It was too nice. I wish we didn't get the answer to the question. Because if he... If she didn't ask and he didn't answer why he's comfortable being a trash collector, why he's not embarrassed by it, it would make more sense why she doesn't know what to say when somebody... Like, she's afraid they're going to judge him when she says trash collector. She's afraid of being made fun of. And she doesn't know how to defend why it's a good job that you shouldn't be embarrassed by. But he gives her that in this episode before she's embarrassed talking about it. He also answers it, like, so eloquently. Like, he sounds like President Grant when he answers this. Yes. We can't have that and then her be embarrassed the rest of the episode. It's too weird. It doesn't work. Or, like, or if he wasn't so cool at the party also, right? Like, if he was a nightmare at the party. That would be fine too, but that's not what happens. It's so weird. At Frazier's party, he knows none of his guests' names and enlists Kenny to help him connect. Roger storms off after overhearing Roz berate Kenny for asking about Roger's shameful career. Frazier not knowing people's names. At one point when he's talking to the guy about sports, did you notice he goes, this guy, and he had, like, a weird Borat voice. He was like, this guy. Oh, this guy. Yeah, I didn't understand. Also, it's a good move. If you are in an awkward situation, if you just, you can Borat your way out of most of them. You know, very nice. Or, you know, my wife. You know, whatever. You throw any of them at him. It's fine. Usually, you can usually move on after that. Yeah, that was pretty awesome. Frazier does something that you never, ever, ever do, which is assume a woman is pregnant and ask her about it. That was insane. And Kenny was, that's the smoothest I've ever seen. Kenny. Him stopping Frazier. Well, not only stopping Frazier, but making the face to Frazier and the audience to be like, do you believe this guy? Like, what the fuck? And also, like, she wasn't very, like, she wasn't even particularly large. Like, it was weird. I think, I wish they would have made her, like, look pregnant, at least. It makes Frazier look really crazy. Yeah, I mean, the only thing I can think is, like, the angle we have as an audience is different than the angle Frazier has. Like, maybe it looked different from his end, but, like, they should have blocked that better if that's what's happening. Yeah, right. Like, maybe she's just, like, rubbing her belly and stuff over to the side. I don't know, being weird, but it was uncomfortable. I guess we can take that he's out of his element, and he's just by her length at this point. But it was insane. Although, Brad, how much do you wish that you had someone like Kenny following you around just feeding names to you? How nice was that, man? I do. Unfortunately, her last day is in a week and a half, so I have to train a new person. But yes, I do. It's called my assistant. Okay. Well done. I don't know if this is a character in this show ever or if it's a one-off for this episode, but we get to meet Cheryl, who I'm going to deem thirsty Cheryl, because she gets one look at Roger and is like, I can post this from Roz, no problem. You know she has a kid, right? Like, such a dark joke. Is that dark? Well, the idea that not only is this woman willing to throw Roz under the bus to get this man, but that the mere fact that a woman would be a single mother is enough to have the man dump her in this character's mind. It's a little bit dark. Not the most progressive joke of all time. Gotta be accurate, though. You're telling me that no one's ever dumped someone because they found out they had a kid. I'm saying that that a person would be dark enough to do that in that moment is, I think that's true. I'm not saying that it's unrealistic or that it is a bad joke for the show. No, I'm just saying that woman is such a chaos agent. She doesn't work at the station, right? Because that would be, it would be tough. Yeah, and it's her co-worker. She says it, well, Roz is in full sight. It's not like she says it, you know, in the download of Roger. Well, and like, let's say it worked out, right? Roger's like, oh, well, I'm obviously going to dump her. Let's go out, Cheryl. Like, that would be, that'd be a tough day at the office when you're just like, oh, hey, Roz. I stole your boyfriend. Roz is embarrassed about the career, but she also, like, interrupts him. Like, he is fairly comfortable answering the question, what does he do? She kind of interrupts to stop him from saying it, and she just says, works for the government. We're also talking to, like, Kenny, right? That's one of the times she interrupts. Like, no one cares. No one respects Kenny. That was the second time, but the first time was to Noel, I think. Who's trying to impress Noel. Quick aside on Noel. We definitely have a jackal hide Noel. He sometimes has no confidence. He sometimes has all the confidence in the world. And this was a very confident Noel, and it annoys me. It doesn't fit with the other episodes. I think he's doing some kind of sort of incel version of confidence, where it's not real confidence. He's doing what he thinks this confident person sounds like. So you think it tracks. You think it works that he can do this and then flip and be just the biggest nerd ever the next episode? Yeah, because I still think he's being a nerd. We all agree he's not doing a good job of picking up women. But this is what he thinks people who pick up women talk like. But he sounds confident doing it. I'd like he should be hesitant and stuttery, and he's not. It annoys me. Yeah, okay. How great was it hearing Frasier Talk Sport? This is where I would get into trouble, because as much as I would love to take somebody else's line about sports and just repeat it verbatim and catch those points, I would have fucked it up. Like, I'm surprised they didn't, like, kind of jumble. You're right. I thought he was going to fumble it, and he didn't. Fumble's a sports thing? Okay, buddy. All right. Roz asks Roger to make a sandwich, and he comes back in one second. And Roger overhears Roz talking to Kenny. I don't care about that part. I care about how the hell did he get the sandwich in one second. It's a party. I doubt he had to go make a sandwich. He probably grabbed one. Yeah, it was pre-made. I think she did ask him to make him a sandwich, but, like, also, even if he, like, unless it was next to you. He came back so fast. It was the next sentence. When she's with Kenny, because the Kenny berating, it's not that quick. There's a couple minutes of her, like, laying into him. In my memory, it was exactly one second. He warped to the sandwich counter and then warped back. I think it was about a minute, maybe two, of Roz rambling to Kenny about him. Okay, so I'm looking at the transcript. Roger, could you please get me a sandwich? That means make me a sandwich in the kitchen. Everyone knows get me a sandwich means go into the cupboards, at a party, grab four to five items, put them together on a sandwich. I think you're wrong because he has proved it's not make me a sandwich. But I will give you credit. There are exactly three lines. It goes, can you make me a sandwich? Roger replies, yeah, okay. Kenny says his piece. Roz says some stuff about what makes, why are you obsessed with people's jobs? Well, she's in the middle of that. It's Roger returns behind her. So it was not a long back and forth between Kenny and Roz before it gets to him returning. So it was quick. Suck it, Brad. I still win. Credit to Kenny. When he whispers Roger to Frasier, that was pretty fun. We get another title card. Love stinks. At the office, Frasier is now Mr. Popularity. He hates it and quickly shoos away the riffraff when they attempt to invite him to some pedestrian affair. Roz struggles with both the breakup and the realization she is a snob. So we got Niles acting like Brad earlier by throwing a ball and hitting himself in the head. This scene, I thought Frasier was very much like Curt. Where he's just like, ah, I'm too popular now. I wish I was unapproachable. Yeah, I thought that too. He was giving very Curtis vibes. I did not particularly relate to it. I just thought he was making a really sensible choice for once in his life. He's just using logic now. I do like when he's describing how much he misses being unapproachable and thought maybe they could just send one representative. I like that. That I think was the most elitist comment of the whole episode. He wants to be liked by everyone but has rules of how he's going to be liked. He wants them to send a delegate. So Roz was a little weird in the scene, especially when she's just staring at the trash can as people are putting trash away as she's missing Roger. This is the transition into annoying as hell Roz that we get the rest of the season. So sorry, I'm looking at trash. I can't stop thinking about my ex. You're a psychopath, Roz. I will say about the Frazier side of it. They invite him to a pay-per-view. My parents are not going to show out for a pay-per-view. That wasn't the thing they were ever going to do growing up. So we never experienced one. But I had heard about it. And I, honest to God, until far too late in life. Didn't understand really what it was or how it worked. And I thought it was called a pay-per-view. You thought they sent a newspaper to explain whatever you bought? I was like, what does paper have to do with boxing? Like, it doesn't make sense. You've never seen it written out? I think most of my experience with it was The Simpsons talking about watching a pay-per-view. Because you weren't a wrestling kid like Ryan and I were. We were wrestling kids. You know, every time we wanted to watch the good stuff, they'd be like, that's pay-per-view. Go talk to your parents, kid. They were just giving away Frazier for free. I didn't need to shell a dime out. Your mom would have bought it anyway. A pay-per-view. That's funny. I don't think that ever occurred to me that that's what it will be. I think I saw it written before I heard it said. Niles is uncomfortable with Daphne's enthusiasm for his childhood stuff. Daphne shares her own, and when he tries to blackmail her, Marty puts piles back in his place. Another superb intro, Curtis. It does cover most of the good stuff, though. You do find out something interesting about Niles. And he used to have choo-choo jammies. And he was in the Young Magicians Club. I could have guessed that. I didn't write, like, the context. I just wrote the word Aida. He watched Aida and then reenacted the Egyptian battle scene through art. Do we know what Aida is? It's an opera, right? Yeah. You said right. I've never heard of it. It is. Okay, I'm sorry. Operatic expert Bradley Kirkston. Please, tell us about Aida. First off, Brad erotic. Nope, let's not use that one. What are you trying to say? Let's talk about some Brad erotic. Brad, what makes you mush? Oh, God. I was trying to combine Brad and operatic, and it did not come out right. Now you fucking nailed it. Is Brad erotic your alter ego? Is that Sexy Brad? Yeah, why not? Sexy Brad's real name is Blad. Ew. Oh. I'm really on fire tonight. No, I knew about this opera because I love operas. No, you don't. No, you don't. No, you don't. No, this is like a famous one. It's a famous one. No one's ever heard of it. Curtis has. I mean, I'm certain he just Googled it after hearing it. Tell us about the Egyptian battle scene, Curtis. Tragic opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Antonio Gislinzoni. Oh, my God. I'm so bored. Yeah, I'm trying to see if the Wikipedia says anything about battle scenes. Oh, my God. This is so long. I would never pronounce this Aida. Yeah, I would call it Aida. I get nothing. There's nothing interesting in this. Go check out Aida and tell us how it is, and if we should go to any operas because we're clearly uncultured. Do we like the nicknames we learn in this scene? I thought it was pretty weak. If we would have heard more of the story of piles, maybe it would have been better. But should we guess? Should we guess what I mean? Poop? Poop? I thought, yeah, I thought piles of poop as well. Yeah. Probably in his underwear. Yeah, so piles. That's the only thing. The dappy thing is like she couldn't say Daphne. That makes sense. But piles, is it just parents making fun of their kid? Like, that doesn't make sense. He said the boys called him that in school. Oh, like he pooped his pants in school. Did he say that? Or did he imply that? Yeah. No, Marty walks by and goes, I could tell you the name that the guys called him. I called Niles in elementary school. Oh, yeah. Okay. Yeah, it's going to be a poop joke, right? Yeah, absolutely. Piles is aggressive, though. I mean, that implies he pooped his pants like big time. In the transcript, it doesn't quite go down anyway. It's literally just Niles trying to tell Marty, can you guess the nickname that Daphne was called as a child? And he just says, was it worse than piles? Yeah, that's what I thought. So we don't know. Yeah, we don't know where it came from. I do think it was a little weak because like Dappy, like as a, whether it's a term of endearment or like a gentle teasing, it's not that bad. Like if he called her Dappy, I can understand why she doesn't want to be called Dappy, but it's not that embarrassing. And even piles like, I don't know. Is it that bad? If it's specifically referring to him pooping himself, yes. Obviously that's bad. If it's just a name because they thought that was fun to call him, then stupid. If he was just a big fan of Gomer Pile growing up, probably not that embarrassing. Probably also not why he was called that, though. Three-year-old Alice straight up calls her mom a snooty hoe. Realizing her foolishness, Roz runs after Roger on his truck and makes up before making out. I never thought we would see Roz's place. We were there twice in one episode. This is, what a season, season nine to Shaping Up the Bay. Real quick, you do know that you saw her place. I know, I said we saw it this season. I know, I'm not saying that we've never seen it, but I said at the start of this season, I never thought we'd see it. We've been here three times, two of them this episode. Wild. Were you surprised she has a housekeeper? Very, very surprised. Was it a housekeeper or was it Alice's babysitter? It wasn't Alice's because she says, can you watch Alice specifically to her? And she's cleaning. I know that there's a habit of this show having healthcare workers do basic cleaning chores. Yeah, that's actually Alice's PT person. It's like another excuse the writers came up with so that Roz can abandon her child and it not be abuse. Yeah, but also Alice didn't have to be there. You're just straight up wrong. She did have to be there. She's the whole reason for the scene. She talks sense into it. Yeah, all right, all right. Sorry. Apologies. She didn't have to be here to be the driving force of this entire scene and conclusion to this episode. Frasier already signed off on this relationship. Why do we need the little kid to? The most important person in Roz's life has signed off on her. Frasier was fine with her dating a garbage man, but also did not push back on her or give her a hard time for breaking it off because he's a garbage man. Like he was like, yeah, okay, that's what you're doing. I'm not going to judge you for it. Like dump him. That's fine. I am certain that he has dumped people for way dumber reasons. And he's literally the last scene that they were in. He's consoling her, but he's also of the opinion that it's okay to be above people and he wants to be. So I don't think he was in the position of the mindset to be like, Roz, like you're being a little ridiculous. Like, let it go. Just go. If you like him, like him. Go be with him. Like he wasn't doing that at all. She needed her daughter to step in here. By the way, I just want to point out, Frasier has not been in the last two scenes of this episode and we're still talking about him a lot. So I guess he's doing a good job. I guess the writers of Frasier have done a good job of conditioning us of how to deal with women. Oh, that's funny. So she runs out as he's like collecting the trash and kind of interrupts him at work. How did you feel about this scene? I wasn't worried about the lack of trash production, if that's what you're asking. I was okay with him taking a beat. I know you're above it, Curt, but some people talk to their refuse people. Okay, let me ask you this question. When she gets up on that garbage truck and is like holding on and they're driving off to the next stop to get off and grab trash, is there a part of you that has always thought and in this scene thought, that'd be kind of fun to do actually? Absolutely. Every person ever has thought, I want to do that part of the job. Yeah, especially someone like me who knows he'd be good at it. Like 100%. You would fall off immediately. No, I wouldn't. No, I wouldn't. I just wouldn't. You 100% would. No. Part of the allure is the visual aspect, like watching somebody do it. It looks cool. There are a fleet of garbage trucks that seem to get breakfast every like Monday at the McDonald's near my house. Like there's just literally a fleet of garbage trucks hanging out outside of this McDonald's and I walk by it on my like morning break. I would not survive the smell. It is a truly awful smell. I thought you were good. Like I'd have to talk so much sports with these guys at a McDonald's breakfast. It'd be horrible. No, just literally walking past them. I'm like, oh my gosh, this is really bad. I mean, it's a garbage truck. It's not surprising, but I'm just saying. Yeah, no, I'm not here making fun of those garbage trucks. I want to put on record. I have the utmost respect for the decency of garbage trucks. He looks down on you people. Just remember that when you're, if you're in Curtis's neighborhood, I don't know. I might, you know, do something unseedy to his trash. All I'm saying. Unseedy. Because he looks down on you people. They're going to plant. Plant? What do you mean unseedy? Isn't that a word? Do you mean unseemly? No, no. What does unseedy mean? Yeah, something like shady. You could have just said shady. Well, yeah, but I did think unseedy is a word. I was in the middle of the time. Yeah, I screwed up. I don't know what to tell you guys. What happens? I think I would like it though. I can turn my, I can close my nose. I don't have to smell something. And I would like to ride on the back of a garbage truck for most of my work day. I'm sorry. Did you say you can close your nose? It's more like the opposite. If I need to smell something, I can open my nose. It's fairly clogged. It's a pretty congested highway. My nasal cavity. Interesting. Yeah. Yeah, I would love hanging out at that McDonald's. I think you can make up with a person and still not like cover yourself in trash immediately. I actually don't know that I agree with you there. I think that it's one thing for her to tell him that she wants to get back together and that she's, you know, she's sorry. I think the act of her participating in the trash collection for a beat is part of the apology. It'll mean a lot to him. Yeah. It's like, this is how sincere I am. I'm letting go of all those hangups and I'm going to actually like get my hands dirty here. Okay. If you were in those shoes, don't you just think like an apology would be fine? No, honestly, no. She really disrespected him. Yeah, definitely. But like, you know, she's dead sorry. I feel like that's enough. Roger seems like an upstanding guy. He might have been cool with the apology by itself, but I do not think she was foolish to go the extra mile here. Like next time they're at a party together and he goes to talk about his job, she can't cut in. Obviously that she has to let him say that bit. Once that happens, I think we're done. I think we're above board. Fraser plays this out with Roz waving goodbye to Roger for the rest of her life. Yeah. I mean, this was really dumb. Yeah, definitely. They could have made this so much more funnier. They could have just it was bad. It was one of the worst ones. I think on paper I get what they're going for. And then just it was too much with it being the back to back scene. Like, yeah, maybe maybe it wasn't the last scene that we saw. That's a good point. They could have they could have done something with the Niles and Marty storyline. You know, it should have been. They should have been like a close up on that framed photo of Niles as a kid looking like a goon. Then you're making fun of like a six year old or whatever the age it was. Yeah. That's like the height of comedy is making fun of children. Oh, well, in that case, yeah, they fucked up. But yeah, usually the toss salads are a callback to an early part of the episode. It's not just a continuation of the last scene. We've seen it a few times. It almost never is the move. And this certainly was an example of that. If you're doing visual jokes and you're involving a garbage truck, my my gut is you want to do some kind of a pratfall, some kind of a some kind of physical comedy. And I don't think that's in Roz's wheelhouse. Oh, if Roz would have fallen into the trash, that would have been way better. But I think it would have been as a concept. But I just don't think her character or that actress, like, are they all that physical? Like, is that that kind of broad physical humor? I got you. Marty's walking by. He's like, oh, I could do trash. He goes up. He falls in the dumpster. The trash truck. Sorry. Well, now I'm pissed because you just pointed out something I hadn't considered, which is that we have been robbed of a Marty slash Roger bro friendship. Yeah, that would have been great. We would have got along swimmingly. Fuck you, Frasier. Fuck you, Frasier. Writers, not Frasier himself. Well, Brad, do you want to say fuck you, Frasier? Or did you like this episode? So I did like this episode and I'm very happy I got to be on this one. I like the episode. I know why you're saying that because you almost were going to bow out because of scheduling. But it's very funny for me that a show you're on almost every episode of it. I'm really glad I got to join this one. Thank you for inviting me. Thank you. Yeah, thank you for having me on today's episode. All in all, I did really like this episode. I liked all three storylines. I liked that they intersect with each other. And I liked that overall it was a good time. So I'm going to give it a solid A. Not a minus, not a plus, just an A. I think it's fair. I don't think it's a bad episode at all. I enjoyed it. I feel like talking about it, there are a lot I enjoyed about it that came back to me. I ranked this pretty even keel at 36 out of 78. But, you know, none of it matters when you're in the middle ground. Why are you saying, yeah, I could see that and then saying a totally different thing than what Brad said? That's Chris's move. That's his move. What do you mean you could see that? He gave it like one of his top ratings. I did. I think it's like a top eight episode for Brad. You're like, yeah, I could see that. I put it 38. Well, I guess I was just saying like it's not bad. Like it's definitely on the positive end. That's not what an A is, Curt. I wasn't reacting to his A. I was reacting to his comments. No, you weren't. So I think this is worse than the other blue collar episode. The fix is in with Andy Daly. But I think it's better than the 200. Oh, okay. You're just getting lazy again. Whatever the last episode was, I'll slide it right behind it. Yeah. Ryan, what are you going to do? I kind of get what both of you are saying. I liked this episode. It didn't have the big moment, which, you know, that's I'm always here for that. And it sorely lacked that. But the scenes flowed well. They did pretty good. I think this was one of the better episodes of the season. But I gave it a lot lower of a score than I've been giving them lately. Because I think we finally adjusted to some of the good episodes in season nine. So I gave this more of a 6.5. And I think I would lower a bunch of other episodes. It's definitely not an A. You're out of your mind, Brad. I think 38. I think Curt's probably more correct despite all the stuff he said. So middle of the road. And for season nine, great. Roz is dating a man whose occupation she deems embarrassing. But what other occupations would be worse than Garbage Collector? We'll find out in a game of Is It Embarrassing? I like this. This is a good way to potentially insult some people to listen to this. And there's no upside. So let's continue. Okay. First of all, this is based on a careeraddict.com list. Curt, own it. This is your thoughts. You hate a bunch of careers. Just own it. It's fine. I got it. I got to say it. Not only is this based on this list, but 40 items on the list. We're only going to use maybe half of those. But some of the things on this list are bananas. Someone just teed off. They're just like, I hate a bunch of professions. Here's 40 of them. It's almost all of the professions. If you asked me to name professions, I don't know if I could get to 40. That's a shitload. It's crazy. Like this list, you're in here, things can be like, why is this on a list? But it's specifically a list of the most embarrassing jobs. And they say very clearly that it is in no particular order, but they rank them with numbers. So I'm treating it as a ranked list. We'll see as we go, because that'll be interesting to see if it's ranked or if it's just a list of embarrassing jobs, I guess. Yeah. So you two are going to be competing against each other. You are going to say whether you think this job is less embarrassing or more embarrassing than being a garbage collector. So the first occupation is pet food taster. Whoa, what? That's a human job? There's absolutely no citation in this article. Why do you need humans to approve the taste of pet food? There were a few that I was like, I don't even know if this is a real job. This one's super weird. I think it is less embarrassing than being a trash collector, only because no one knows about it. I think it's less because you can say that at a party. Be like, oh, I taste dog food as my profession. People are like, what are you talking about? Now you have got a 45 minute conversation. Ryan, I think that whatever we find out the answer to this question will really help us try to figure out this list. I don't think so at all. I don't think this is a real job. I don't think it is either. You both get a point. It is less embarrassing. Next up, telemarketer. It's got to be more embarrassing. I'm going to be so mad if it's not. Telemarketers are the worst. Okay, you're saying more embarrassing to be a telemarketer. More embarrassing, yeah. Did you ever see the HBO did a documentary about telemarketers? It was insane. No, why would I watch that? That sounds horrible. I'm going to send it to you tomorrow. I'm not going to watch that. I would definitely hate to admit that I was a telemarketer. Yeah, it's definitely going to be more. No points awarded. This is less. You could read this list many different ways because they didn't articulate how you should read it. Well, they did. They said don't use this as a list of things. It's all random. But this was number one on the list. Number one, like it's the least embarrassing job. It is either the least embarrassing or the most embarrassing. We don't know. I'm treating it as the least embarrassing. Where did pet food land? That was 14. Oh, okay. Do we know when this was written too? Because that would also maybe help. Because I feel like telemarketing has gotten so much worse in the last few years. It does not say written. It says updated November 13th, 2024. Oh my God. This is current. Yeah. I'm thinking you get the list in reverse, but let's see. Let's keep going. Gear up. Freddy, I think we can all agree is embarrassing, but I'm not sure if I would qualify firefighter as an embarrassing job, but it is on this list. Oh, I'm going to say I'm hoping for society. It's less embarrassing. Freddy. Freddy's embarrassed about it a lot of times. So, I mean, we've seen evidence that people could be. And Frazier's certainly embarrassed of it for him. You can't say that it's like, you know, firefighters. Man, I'm not like doing mental gymnastics here. I think they're actually pretty close. I put them pretty close. But obviously, firefighters got that danger element to it. So, it's got to be less embarrassing. You both get a point. It is less embarrassing. Brian, you are not going to get any bonus points for this, but you were closer in that it is pretty close to where Garbage Collector landed. Put them in the same space, like firefighter, police, garbage. It's like those are important bits to the city, right? Yeah. And this came out at number 60 on the list. Okay. Next up, broadcaster. I presume is in like a news broadcaster. I'm going to go with more embarrassing. Why? Just because TV, especially if it was done last year, like I feel like being on TV has become like an embarrassing job now. You like get caught for everything you do. I don't think that at all. I think you can have more embarrassing moments because it's very public what you do. But I would definitely brag all the time about being a broadcaster. So, I'm going to say it's less embarrassing for sure. I said more. We are finally deviating from each other, which means one of you is getting a point and that person is named. B-Rad from B-More. Ah, I knew it. More embarrassing. Next up, promotional mascot. I'm going to say less embarrassing. People love a good mascot. No, it's not. There's a difference between a mascot at a sports event, which is not what this is. Yeah. I'm saying like the Geico Gecko, all that kind of stuff. That's not what that is either. This is like the guy outside of like a little Caesar spinning a sign. Yeah. Sometimes there's Geicos. No, there's never that. Geico doesn't even have stores, do they? I'm still going to say it's less embarrassing. Everyone loves a mascot, even if it's not a sports one. I would say for sure more embarrassing. I would never tell a girl that. Brad gets another point. I'm so much better at this game. I think we've got the list backwards. Let me give you a sense of the quality of this article. It says, whether it's dressing as a pair of testicles in the name of testicular cancer awareness or promoting a new fried chicken restaurant in jank chicken costume, you are bound to attract attention, usually ridicule and bullying. That is insane. I mean, first of all, no one's dressed as a pair of testicles, but if you were, it was for a good cause. So people wouldn't be mad at you for that. I don't think for the most part. And what was the other one? AFC? Chicken restaurant. Yeah. Oh, just generic chicken. I don't think. Oh, you know what? Chick-fil-A does that with a cow sometimes. Yeah. Yeah. I wouldn't tell people about that. Okay. How about animal urine collector? Well, I'm going to go more embarrassing on this one. Is this the whole role? The whole role is collecting pee from animals. Great benefits. It's the whole job. There's like, listen, listen, Ryan, there is, we need to get about four liters of cow piss today. Tomorrow you're getting horse stuff. Like, I don't know. I don't know about this one. I'm flagging this one as even a job. I think maybe it's a subset of like your, I don't know. I don't know what. You are, you are dead on the money that this is ridiculous list and ridiculous entry on the list. But you still have to say more or less. I think it's, again, I think this falls in the like, I would love to tell people to party that I collect animal piss for my job. I would, I would brag about that for sure. I'm going to lock that in as your answer. But Ryan, I'm going to remind you that this is kind of like that family feud. You're, you're not picking for yourself. You're picking for what you think most people would answer. I don't think most people like animal urine collector. I'd be proud to talk about that at a party. What if you heard someone say, okay, you, Curt, of all people, if someone said that to you, you would have a million questions for them. I'm telling you, because it's so interesting. That's why I think it's more embarrassing because nobody wants to answer a million questions. It depends how you collect it, I think. I would go more. Uh, yeah, more is correct. This is clearly more embarrassing. Definitely not. It's definitely less embarrassing. I have so many questions. I can't wait to meet a urine collector of any kind, to be honest. Write to us. Okay, next up, let's go with fast food cook. I'm going to go less embarrassing. They make a good, they make a good living nowadays. Cook is a rest of fear. Yeah, I'm going to, I'm going to go less embarrassing. I can do anything in a fast food restaurant and I am not a cook. Uh, I think it's, I, I would put it in the more embarrassing category for sure. Less embarrassing. Unless, again, the only reason it's less embarrassing is because it's like your job while you're in high school or something or college even. But if it's, if it's after that, I'd much rather be a trash collector. Uh, all right. Well, uh, Ryan is going to finally get a point here. This is more embarrassing. Good work, Ryan. This again, it's contextual. How about a mortician? That's embarrassing. Everyone loves a good mortician. I, they creep me out and that's unfair to them. I've, I'm definitely going off of like two, two TV shows I've seen. If someone told me that I would, that would be the end of the conversation probably. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry to the morticians out there. I think it's more embarrassing. Ooh, you're catching up to Brad. This is also more embarrassing. 32 on the list. But what about a restroom attendant? Ooh, I love a restroom attendant. You're talking to Brad's heartstrings. Yeah. That's like what, uh, if I'm going to say less embarrassing, if it is not less embarrassing, I will not be happy, but it is a, it is an animal job. It is something that I think we should have at every place. I work at a place that has multiple fitness centers and I push for it every single day. So I am pro bathroom attendant. A hundred percent. I feel bad at insulting people's jobs. I don't feel bad at insulting this one. This is the worst thing that we have in all of America. I wish no one was ever in the bathroom attending anything other than maybe cleaning it sometimes. I was going to say, I don't know if I can get that far with you, Ryan, but. I'm fine. If we just go like, okay, there'll be no more bathroom attendants and we won't clean bathrooms. I'm probably fine with that, to be honest. I would, I would accept that. So you're going to agree with me and go with less embarrassing. I mean. It's way more embarrassing. If someone, if it was my last thing I could do, I would do it, but I would hate it. I think if we're treating this as restroom attendant, that, that guy standing around handing out mints, I'm with you. We don't need that job. It's a terrible job that shouldn't exist. If you're talking about people who clean bathrooms to keep them sanitary, I definitely want that person around. That's not what this is. That's not what this is. No, that's not what this is. I know, but Ryan was going the extra mile and saying he didn't care if bathrooms were never cleaned. No, no. I'm saying I would give up cleaning bathrooms to get rid of those people. All right. Well, Ryan is obviously correct. That is more embarrassing at 24. Yeah, I disagree. This list is rigged. This list is nonsense. How about, um, this is basically a job I had for, a big chunk of my career, a customer service advisor. I think less embarrassing, but I don't have a lot of faith in society. So it makes me think it might be the opposite, but I'm going to go less embarrassing. I think this is something you'd be less embarrassed to tell people, but I think it actually is secretly is one of the more embarrassing jobs. And also, it's also a job I've done in my career. Thank you, Brad. And fuck you, Ryan. It is less embarrassing at only number seven on the list. I've done it. It's definitely, but I think you know. All right. This is another case where I'm going to say it. Probably this was written by AI. Like this whole thing is complete nonsense. But the next item on the list, paint dry watcher. That's not, that's not a thing, Curt. That's a joke. That's something they joke around about in movies. Because I don't believe it's real. I'm going to have to go less embarrassing. It'd be more embarrassing if it was real. That's why would that be your job? No, the list is what I was referring to. What? I don't believe the list is real. I think Curt is making this up. Obviously. Yeah. Oh, and you think Curt wrote it like 100%. Yeah, there's no list. There's no list. Now, you can have ad-lib that it was done in 2024. Yeah. So, Brad, you're going with less embarrassing. Ryan, more embarrassing? Definitely more embarrassing. If that's a real job, it's more embarrassing. I'm going to tell you that right now. 25 on the list. More embarrassing. Ryan has tied the game. We couldn't find anything else for you. Just watch this paint dry, please. Which you can't really tell visibly anyway, but whatever. By the way, I know all these images are just like stock photos, or maybe they are AI generated. Who knows? But it's literally just a picture of a guy in a t-shirt staring at a wall. What's the descriptor of this one? It says, these folks literally watch paint dry for a living. The purpose is to check how the color of a mat and emulsion changes over time and to make sure that they're durable. Oh, you know what, though? Is that something? Maybe. I don't know. I was thinking like painting a house, but I guess like if you are a paint company, maybe you would want to know that. I don't doubt that there's some version of this job that exists. I doubt very much that it's a person who is just staring at a wall of paint as it dries. It's probably like checking in on certain intervals or something like that. That still seems aggressive, though. Yeah. Anibal Inseminator. Did you say Anibal? Anibal Inseminator. This one's definitely real. Definitely. I'm going to hope it is more embarrassing. Why would you want to talk about that? This is another one. I would bring it up at every party I was ever at. Also, I assume that we do it for like a really important reason. I don't think people are out there doing it for fun, right? Like, I think it's got to be like we're saving a species or something dramatic. Oh, no. I'm pretty sure this is just pigs don't have sex anymore. They're just bred by inseminating them artificially. Like, that's how our factory farmed food happens. Why do you know that? Because I watch A Dirty Job. I thought you were going to make a super-size me joke. That changes the... Okay, that actually changes my formula a lot. I think that if that's the case, if it's just for like factory farming, then yeah, it's way more embarrassing and awful. We can tie on this one. And you can both gain a point because it is more embarrassing at 34 on the list. I think this is the first one when I was scrolling through the list. I was like, oh, wow. This is a fucked up list. It's... Soldier. It's... I... I have to say less embarrassing. I think... Yeah. I think we, by law, have to say. I think you can get thrown out of the country if you're saying it's more embarrassing. Yeah. And, Curtis, even if the answer's more embarrassing, you have to say less embarrassing. I don't think you're even allowed to correct this. Yeah. I agree. Blah, blah, blah. Love the flag. Whatever. Here's the deal. You both get a point. It is less embarrassing than a garbage collector. Wink. Were you trying to get the two of us canceled? Yeah. Did you want to get this whole thing canceled? I can get myself canceled right now by stating on this list, soldier is number five on the list. It is less embarrassing to be a telemarketer than a soldier, according to this list. Well, that makes sense. But that's besides the point. I'm just kidding. That's fine. Yeah, that is absolutely fucked up. Can you not do something that's going to cancel right away? You can't say soldier. You just can't say it. Next one. Police officer. Well, it's on the list, but we're not going to do that. Bird victim. Great. This list would treat just like a person with an affliction as like a career. Okay. We talked about animal inseminator, but what about the other side of that? How about an animal masturbator? Excuse me? It's definitely a job. Yeah. I don't know why I know that. I like it's definitely come up in like internet perusal. Reddit brings this kind of thing up all the time. Ryan, you can tell us about your porn habits later. Right now we're trying to play a game. I wish it's not important. You know, this comes up in like the Reddit posts, the comment section all the time. We got a different algorithm, buddy. Well, I'm proud of that. I'm less embarrassed about that. I mean, it's got to be as funny as it would be to tell someone that I masturbate animals for my job. I think it's still ultimately going to be more embarrassing, even if it's a fun thing to tell people at parties. I hear you, Ryan. People love animal stories. I'm going to go less embarrassing. You go the opposite with every other gross animal thing. I know, but I wanted to try to use that excuse for this one when it came to masturbating. He also wants the game to end and this forces it to end. You're just tired. That's all this is. All I care about in life is for the win. Okay. If Curtis says I won, then my work is done. If Curtis says I lost, then all this. I'm cutting you off. Do not finish the sentence because you don't need to because you've won. So. What can I pay? My dues. Your work is done. Time after time. Go ahead and take a nap. Did we say urinator is less or more embarrassing than masturbator? First of all, inseminator, not urinator. No, the urine collector. Oh, I see. I see. There was the animal urine collector as well. Yes. Urine collector, 39 on the list. Animal inseminator, 34 on the list. So both pretty close to the end of that list. Most embarrassing jobs. Somehow, animal masturbator, 18. It is less embarrassing than number 20, which was garbage collector. I mean, I think this was definitely an unordered list. Like, this list is bananas. It was fun, though. It was fun. But the fact that Soldier is five is going to be hard to rectify no matter what. Yep. The fact that it's even on the list is pretty wild. It is wild. I wonder, though, if the next episode of Frasier is going to be wild. Ryan, why don't you tell us what we can expect next week when we cover the previous episode. It's season nine, episode four, The Return of Martin Crane. We meet an animal masturbator, urinator. Oh, sorry. Marty hasn't been on the show since season one. This is his first episode back. How happy would you be if that was the case? It'd be the greatest thing ever. It'd make season nine totally worth it. Given the quality of season nine, given our criticisms of its overall kind of lackluster nature, do you think this show can deliver that kind of a win for you? Really? No, no, I think it would be another letdown episode in the season nine Rolodex. Yeah, kind of a safe bet, but that will do it for us. Thanks to Kevin MacLeod for our theme music and thank you for listening. I suppose you don't really care if this podcast is successful. You would never take five minutes out of your precious day to go to Apple Podcasts and leave us a review. You don't use Facebook, YouTube, or Instagram, or TikTok. You aren't curious what happens if you search for Reverse Psych Pod. Lord knows you can't be bothered to shoot us an email. At ReversePsychPod at gmail.com. For myself, for Ryan, and for Brad, bad morning. Well, I guess I'll just dump in since I was talking about this. Did you say you were going to dump in? Yeah, he did say he was going to dump in. What do you mean you're going to dump in, Carter? Are you making a trash joke? Yeah, I'm mocking Roger. At a time like this? It's too sensitive.

                                                    Preserved conversation context

                                                    Knowing coworkers’ names

Brad describes forgetting names and mixing them up, including calling Ryan Dad or Brad. He recalls mistaking another man at the gym for himself, and eventually admits the difficulty of confessing that he does not know someone’s name. He also remembers a summer camp with about 900 children. Ryan knows four people in his ten-person office: two direct reports, his manager, and someone who greets him daily. Brad waits a month to learn a new coworker’s name in case they leave. These are personal stories, with no score.

Brad gives A, enjoying the three storylines and their intersection. Curtis places it #36 of 78, below The Fix Is In but above The 200th; later remarks about 38 do not establish a revised submission. Ryan gives 6.5, praising the flow while missing a big standout moment. The /10 display follows the established rating convention.

Asked about opera, Brad accidentally blends his name with operatic into “Braderotic,” prompting further name jokes. The discussion also speculates about the nickname Piles. Consulting the script does not establish its origin, so the theories remain theories. A separate dispute over getting versus making a sandwich includes playful boasting, without establishing another scored game.

Ryan predicts The Return of Martin Crane

Ryan jokes that Marty has been absent since the first season and is finally returning. Asked whether Season 9 can deliver, he expects a letdown. The surrounding animal-profession callback is banter, not a further competitive round.
