Welcome to Reverse Psychology, the Fraser Rewaunt podcast where we go backwards through every episode of the show. Tonight we are covering Season 8, Episode 22, A Passing Fancy, which originally aired on May 15th, 2001. Is this when we say hello and therefore goodbye to Kirby? We'll find out. I'm your host Curtis Sheck. Joining me as always is our resident upside downer, it's Ryan Sand. So... Curtis! I am excited. You'll be happy to know I tried on my prom outfit. Still fits. Wearing it right now. Ooh, very nice. Well, also with us is our prostitute prom date, Bradley Kirkston. Would you be surprised if I told you I went to two proms? I'd be less surprised if you told us you were a prostitute. You'd be less surprised. I don't think I'd be a good one. I don't think I could pull it off. No one said you'd be a good one. You'd be inadequate for sure. I didn't say you'd like be a high earner prostitute. Well, we have another guest joining us tonight. It's Logan Suffol. Hello, everyone. Coming from someone who had a COVID prom, I'm happy to be in the midst of someone who did not. Oh, man. Oh, man. A COVID prom. We have a lot of questions about that. So many questions. Oh, no. Oh, it was a crazy time to be in high school. Let me tell you something. Was it? Well, to be fair, it was a crazy time to be anywhere. Exactly right. I love how politely he was like, well, that's exactly right. Motherfucker, I went to prom over the Zoom. Like, fuck off. Your childhood was definitely ruined. You should be angsty. No, it's so funny you say that. I was actually no, I didn't go to a Zoom. I was supposed to go to a prom, but then COVID canceled it. And then it just ended up not happening. So I was a junior in high school. And then my senior year of high school, our parent PTA got together. And in fact, of course, my mother had to plan our prom, which means my mom was the chaperone at my prom because of the COVID pandemic. Oh, you had a prom mom. Which one did you like better? The canceled Zoom prom or the one your mom was hosting? I'm going to guess probably the one that my mom was hosting. I had a better time at that one. And the other one didn't actually happen. So I would say the one experience that I had, I liked better. I mean, you knew at least one person there, right? So that's exactly right. Did you try to like avoid her all night? Was it one of those places where you could or was it just one room? How was your prom? It's so funny. I, I actually did not try to avoid her. I was actually saw her multiple times. I mean, it was basically just in a big party room with like a hallway in it. And she honestly stood in the hallway the whole time. Oh, that's a good mom. Yeah, she was the best. Did try to make an effort to steer clear. It was very nice. Is she like the mom who's like, I'd rather him drink at our house so I can keep an eye on him? Yes. She was like, you know, I'm totally fine if you do all these things. However, I need you to be safe. What a hero.

Game / activity
Curtis randomly assigns each participant three characters from this episode. Repeats are allowed. Each person can steal from one designated participant by making an accepted offer to a different participant, who then sends a replacement character to the person being stolen from. The victim cannot veto. The final task is to choose a prom companion, a long-term-relationship-seeking date and someone to share a bed with. The bed choice need not involve sexual contact.
RESULT STATUS
The source establishes a noncompetitive structured exchange or performance; no whole-game participant winner is inferred.

Initial characters: Logan—Claire, Daphne, Lana; Brad—Daphne, Frasier, Roz; Ryan—Niles, Daphne, Marty; Curtis—Kirby, Roz, Daphne. The deals change the holdings used for the final choices.
WHAT THEY BROUGHT
Ryan takes Roz from Curtis and offers Niles to Brad. Brad first declines, then accepts. Brad sends Frasier to Curtis as the replacement.
WHAT THEY BROUGHT
Brad takes Lana from Logan. Curtis rejects Brad’s offer of Niles but accepts Daphne, enjoying the prospect of multiple Daphnes. Curtis sends Kirby to Logan.
WHAT THEY BROUGHT
Logan can take a character from Brad by negotiating with Ryan. Despite pressure to trade and Ryan’s willingness to accept any deal, Logan keeps Claire, Daphne and Kirby. He provisionally assigns Kirby to prom, Claire to dating and Daphne to the bed. This is his own no-deal turn, not a refusal of a later offer.
WHAT THEY BROUGHT
Curtis takes Daphne from Ryan by offering Frasier to Logan. Logan accepts and gives Claire to Ryan; the replacement is clarified later. Ryan objects, but is not the approver. Curtis now holds three Daphnes.
WHAT THEY BROUGHT
Logan takes Kirby to prom because he is youngest and would be excited. He chooses Frasier for the relationship-seeking date, expecting entertainment rather than a future together. Daphne is the bed choice, with the separate little-bed solution he calls going full Niles. Frasier replaces the earlier Claire dating choice.
WHAT THEY BROUGHT
Brad picks Niles for prom to talk to girls on his behalf, Roz as the soulmate choice because she likes funny people, and Lana for the bed because of her aggression. The others challenge his reasoning.
WHAT THEY BROUGHT
Curtis uses all three Daphnes: sophistication for prom, beauty and interesting conversation for the date, and a challenge likened to dodgeball for the bed.
WHAT THEY BROUGHT
Ryan delays his turn. He chooses Claire for the date because he does not know what dating her would be like, Roz for a fun prom and good memories, and Marty for the bed so he can knock him out with Daphne’s motion. He clarifies the motion is the one from the episode, with Marty hitting the floor.

His mom's very cool. I've known his mom for a long time. She's awesome. Over a decade now, Brad. Yeah. Wow. It's almost a decade. That's terrifying. I feel like one more questions is there. We should avoid it. I think we should talk a little Frasier first for a little bit. Yeah. Logan, tell us a little about your, if you have any experience with Frasier, what, what is your relationship to this show? I haven't watched this show fully through, but I, I have a twin brother and he, is literally the biggest Frasier fan. I know he has watched every single episode full and through numerous times. I've seen a couple episodes of him when I watched it at home with him. He watched the reboots. He texts me all the updates. He just texted me an update. I think the other day about David Hyde Pierce saying he wanted to join the revival if it was ever picked up. So I have not watched it myself. This is breaking news for us. Logan, Kevin and hot. What? I brother texted me an article last week that David Hyde Pierce did an interview that he would be interested in coming back. And there's some reason that he didn't go back to the original but they said if they brought it back ever, he would be interested in coming back. That's, we don't have time for that. That's wild. What did you think of Frasier while you were watching it with him? Like, did you like it? Did you take it in? Were you paying like close attention? What do we, how did, how did you, how was your viewing experience? My viewing experience is always good. I never found myself paying full attention, but I always ended up watching Cheers with him, which is how he got into Frasier. And once again, I was one of those situations where he was super locked in and I was not. But every time I would like look up at my, at the screen, I would always find myself laughing. There's so many interesting like quips that Frasier and Niles have with each other interacting. And my brother always likes to reference them when we talk. Frasier has always been a root of a lot of the things that we do in our daily life. Oh, wow. This might be even, even more intense than you and your brother, Skart. I mean, it sounds like it might be. Literally the other day, he sent me a TLC interview of Kelsey Grammer and with a Long Island medium. And I just thought that was the funniest thing. Oh, that is fun. I don't think I'm as big a fan of Kelsey Grammer as I am of Frasier. That's a valid response. I also, he knows I'm a big fan of the Long Island medium. I think she's the funniest. So it was a perfect thing to send. That's your Venn diagram. It's exactly right. Where do you put the show like in the greater hierarchy? Would you call it like average, great, terrible? I don't think it's terrible at all. The episodes that I've seen is including the one from tonight. I would say it's a great show. It's so smart the way it's written and the way the characters interact with each other that it really, it deserves to have the hype that it should really have. Obviously, you're from a younger generation. I grew up with Frasier like it was airing while I was in my formative years. Yeah, your brother liked it. His mom liked it. So there. Is this the one sort of 90s show that you and your brother have any kind of affection for? Or is it like a lot of shows from that era that that you or he watched? Brad can attest to this as well. Every show from that era, my brother has watched. He literally during our high school, we would run cross country together and him and my best friend would run together. He told us all about the must see TV universe with all of Frasier and forgetting all of them and taxi and airplane and all of that. He loves all of them. And it just for some reason, he's always been a fan of 80s and 90s, specifically multi camera sitcoms. Is the reason that Brad groomed him? Did he groom Brad? Is that why Brad's the way he is? No, this is a before Brad endeavor. The way I'll describe Logan's brother is he's like a 95 year old man trapped in a 22 year old's body. So you, how do you describe yourself? I'm 85. Oh, okay. I see. My brother, an older soul than Brad. Wow. It's kind of disturbing. It's hard to imagine. Brad said multiple times that you were really excited to come on the pod. And is this a podcast you've listened to at all? Obviously not that. Or is this just a stepping stone for you to get into the manosphere and be on Joe Rogan? I've been asking to get on this podcast forever. I haven't listened to many episodes, but just because of my brother's love of Frasier, I just thought it was to be so much fun. And someone who has actually seen a couple episodes of the show before, I just was excited to be a part of it. Brad never explained that part. So we thought he was definitely just making up a person. He's like, yeah, I definitely know someone who could be a guest on the show. We're like, okay, Brad. Well, should we pivot into the episode? And I have no transition for this this week. I don't know why. Are you trying to get into the manosphere, Curt? I think that'd be a good look for you. I've been trying for two years. It hasn't worked. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. You probably haven't talked enough Frasier. That's a good point. We should talk about more Frasier. Let's get into the episode. Let's do it. All right. We open with a plane flying a KACL banner over Seattle. Daphne is tossing and turning in bed, knocking Niles out of it. I know I usually let other folks talk before I chime in after giving the intro, but I just have to say it. We've got a hairy arms alert. He's the family intellectual. The long hair of the family. Hair. You're a hair. Without his hair? What is it? I definitely noticed David Hyde Pierce's hairy arms this episode. I thought maybe it was going to be Daphne's. I don't know. I wasn't paying attention to either of their arms. Yeah, I missed that. I was genuinely concerned for Niles' life at the start. I thought that the whole joke was he was going to get just walloped. That was the whole joke. I thought it was going to end up with Daphne being mad at Niles for something because that just wouldn't surprise me. Yeah, that's true. It's really weird that this is basically their whole storyline. I think this is probably the first scene, at least in a long time, that just had no actual talking, especially opening. I don't know if we've ever had an opening scene where they just haven't said any words to each other. No talking. And it's like the B plot and it has very little to do with the rest of the episode. It doesn't really tie into it at all. Like it's really interesting for them to start with this. It's basically like we got four scrambled eggs. Yes, actually. You don't say actually. I'm at good points sometimes. What was the worst part of that assault for you guys? I think it was the covers being ripped off. I do not like when I'm stuck out in the cold. 100%. I don't mind. You can push me out of the bed every night. Don't care. As soon as I lose those blankets, it's over. How about Niles taking a peek at her boobs before going back to bed? Yeah, it was just a smart business move. You know, you got to do that. Yeah, why wouldn't you do that? You got to make sure they're still there. Got to check their integrity. Frazier is tutoring Kirby, who hasn't been studying. Marty is annoyed Eddie wasn't invited to another dog's birthday party. And Lana warns Frazier to take things slow with Claire, lest he scare her away. So Logan, you recently graduated school. Did you have any idea who William Henry Harrison was? I did not, but I do know who Gene Smart is, and it's not because I watch tax. Good, not bad. Oh, good. Good. You know your American history. Perfect. What is it because of? My brother. Okay. It's going to be the answer for a lot of things tonight. Yeah, it's going to be the answer to a lot of things in this because a lot of the references that did stem from him and not my own. It's been observations from the outside, not from the inside. Well, it's too bad I never talked presidents with you. That's something we have never talked about before, actually. So I know I'm the biggest Kirby fan out of the three of us. I think because he reminds me a lot of me because we just have similar, you know, characteristics. Ryan, I know you have been very critical of Kirby and you felt like every episode you've seen, he gets better. Do you still feel that way? Like, what's your Kirby ranking in this episode? A hundred percent. This is our best. This is our best Kirby episode. A hundred percent. Okay. How do you feel about Eddie not getting invited to that dog party? I felt bad for Frazier's dad even more because it sounded like he wanted to go more than Eddie. Are you aware that Frazier's dad's a piece of shit though? Pieces of shit have feelings too. Right. It doesn't mean he's a piece of shit. It doesn't mean he still doesn't want to go to the party. Of course he wants to go to the party and he's a sad old guy. Sure. Yeah. But he doesn't deserve to go to the party. That guy didn't invite him probably because Marty's very curmudgeoning. That just means Marty's holding Eddie back. That's interesting because I don't like the dog either and that's interesting. It is probably Marty's poor influence. Maybe your only dislike of Eddie is because of his proximity to Marty. Maybe. Also I saw him so don't do your stupid game. Honestly I feel like we're bearing lead with this scene because this is where we get to find out how whimsical tapas are. That's a good question. Is it a whimsical date? Especially a first date. Logan have you ever had tapas? I've been in the proximity of tapas before and it was not a whimsical experience. It was basically just like any other dining experience. What does that mean the proximity of tapas? Yeah I have more questions as well. I'm a very picky eater so I went to have tapas with my family but I watched them enjoy it. If you're picky I feel like tapas is the perfect thing but you were picky against every single dish. That's next level picky. Take picky to the max. You would love Curtis. Wow. They didn't have a dry turkey sandwich in the tapas menu. I don't even like turkey. That's the fun. They probably did. I just would never do that. Well never mind. That friendship is off the table. Well I have done tapas and I've actually done tapas with you know two of the three people on this call before. We went to Vegas with Brad and he took us on like six romantic dates. It was very strange. One of them was whimsical. The tapas dinner was very whimsical. It was and now that place isn't even open anymore. It was a great meal. It would be tough if you don't apparently like food though. Logan you should try more stuff man. Like food's great. Almost all of it. I'm trying. It's slowly but surely. Okay. I appreciate that you're willing to still try because I feel like most picky eaters I know they've called it by now. That was me a couple years ago but you know growing up you just kind of realize that you just kind of have to adjust your your palate. Yeah and to be fair you probably just lost your taste from COVID so you know it comes back. I did not lose my taste from COVID. Oh good. Oh all right. So you just got life to overcome that. You can do it. It was like an epiphany moment. What was the moment? Walk me through that a little bit. It wasn't that exciting. It was just me realizing that I eat too little. Like what led you to that realization? I don't even know. It was probably still. I was probably out with my family and I just probably realized that I eat the same three things on rotation every day and just had to make a change. Was it while you were at a whimsical tapas restaurant? There was no whimsy. It was actually anxiety that I eat the same three things every day. What are the three things? I'm very curious. Hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, and pastas. Probably the span. Those are four things. It's a good it's a good four though. If you're gonna be picky you can do worse. Roz asks for time off to attend a Springsteen concert but Fraser says no. Claire shows up to describe herself as Fraser's perfect mate and he can't stop himself asking her out. Getting denied at PTO for almost any reason is pretty egregious. Why is he saying no to this? It's unclear. Yeah it almost seems like he just gets a kick out of saying no to her. Look at me getting off. I also didn't understand why he would say no because she gave valid reason like she could have just called out. Also I feel like Fraser and Roz have a good enough relationship where that reasoning should be valid. Yeah I mean they're like real friends. She's just like oh Fraser I'm not coming into work tomorrow. You'd be like oh okay. The real answer is that the writers needed something for him to be able to give her later to get her to go to the prom with Kirby but it is a really like they could have done a better construction to get to that point I think. Pretty easily too right? Like he could have been gifted the tickets or something stupid like we could have really worked out a better system. Yeah this episode reminded me how long ago about people like waiting in line for tickets. I don't think that's a thing people do Logan do they? Do people still stand in line for tickets? Yeah what do the what do the young people do when they go to Springsteen's concerts now? You know non-Springsteen concerts these days you wait in Ticketmaster line so it's still like you're waiting for hours but instead of doing it on the curb you're doing it in your bed or at your work desk. Sounds way better though. It is. The problem is that a lot of resellers get the tickets first. Yeah and that that sucks but like your whole point was like you sit on your phone something everyone's doing anyway so that's not a good loss. I have TV on in the background while I'm sitting in the Ticketmaster line. Could be three hours but at least I'm watching TV instead of standing in the cold. Yeah way better. Anyway French roast with three shots of espresso that is called at Cafe Nervosa the defibrillator. Yeah because it'll stop your heart. Would you order this? Of course. This would be like your regular. I had five cups today of course I would. I'm very boring with my coffee. I just get a large hot coffee cream and sweets and low. That's it. I'm boring. I mean ordering sweet and low is aggressive. I'm a sweet and low guy. If you go to Starbucks you're like I want I need a sweet and low pack with it they'd be like okay go find one somewhere else. I don't know where you're gonna find that. I do not go to Starbucks. I'm a dunking guy. Bradley runs on Dunkin'. Do they have sweet and low? Do you go in? Oh I go in because I'm old-fashioned. I go in. Honestly God I don't even know if our Dunkin' Donuts has a door. I think it might be drive-thru only. I love going inside places. I don't even know how the employees get in. You think there's literally no door? I think they climb in through like the ordering window or so I don't know. Never seen it. Okay. Niles does come in the scene and he tells them about his turnsting and turning. So I guess that was the only attempt to try to combine the plots Curtis to your point earlier. They bring up his storyline but they don't really integrate it in any way into the other storyline. I mean there's not a lot to talk about. She knows she beats him up. There's not really much either of them can do. They're both kind of just stuck with it. I don't know. At this point we have talked about it more than they have. So you know there's that. Yeah it did not last long. Well and we should probably talk about Claire right because she's in this scene and she is describing just casually to Frasier what she is like and what she likes to do and what she's interested in and it's clearly a bullseye for Frasier's interests. Yeah but it was like too much though. I don't think they would work as a couple even if he wasn't a psychopath because they just I think their interests are too similar. No contrast. Yeah right it'd just be all agreed. This might be a little too Frasier for Frasier. Yes that's right and I don't think she does anything to change that in the later episodes. Spoiler alert Logan they break up for a crazy reason but I don't think it'll work that anyway. I'll say this in defense of Claire. I think that there's a big difference between between being too similar to your partner personality wise whereas this is mostly just an overlap in interests which would mean they'd get to be able to do things they both enjoy together. I'm not saying they would necessarily be a perfect fit but I think it's not as egregious as if they're both you know narcissists like Frasier is. Yeah but it's every interest. You're supposed to have like two to three interests with your significant other. It can't be everything. Yeah like Ryan your wife is smart and she's not a fan of the Steelers so that's a great example. A huge Steeler fan. She does know how downs work so yes. If I'm not mistaken the only thing you have in common with your wife is your children and she likes this podcast right? You know we like food too. We like breweries. We like food. We both like this pine cone. You both like pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, and pastas. Exactly right y'all. You're on it. Yeah nailed us. We get a title card. A waste is a terrible thing to mind. Frasier continues to fail at tutoring Kirby. He doesn't think he needs Lana anymore since he's already nabbed his date but he stands corrected when Claire calls Lana and leaves a message that she is uncertain about him. I like that we get the new mnemonic device and explaining what a mnemonic device is but you could not be further apart than Taft and William Henry Harrison. Like those are just two totally different human beings and they're not even close like on the numbers wise. I've got a lot to say about these mnemonic devices. I hate and I mean I hate that this television show has forced me to agree with Kirby about anything but he's right. A mnemonic device is stupid. So now to remember two things I have to remember two other things. Plus the first two things. Yes. That's four things. It depends on the mnemonic device. You're telling me you don't use Roy G. Bibb ever? That's never once been something you've used? I don't know what that is. Okay. Roy G. Bibb? Okay. Curt. I'm not kidding. I don't know what you're doing. What is that for? Shut up. I guess I'll look it up. How do you spell it? Curtis is really trying to punch this joke. Curt. You're not actually serious right? Roy G. Bibb. Stop it. Oh it's like the colors? Are you being serious? Why would you need a mnemonic for colors? You know them when you're like a baby. For the rainbow you dickhead. That's when you learn it when you're a baby. Roy G. Bibb. Not if you're Curt. Okay. Curt tell us the colors of the rainbow I guess. Let's hear how you do that. Well I'm staring at them because I looked it up. But you have uh that thing babies have. Whenever it's not in front of your face it's gone. Object permanence. So there's no way you can remember it. That's true. I I take your point because I now I'm just thinking about Roy G. Bibb because I've never heard that before but it makes sense I guess. It's not really a word though. What? And no matter the way it's still have to be words. I guess but I'm just saying like. This might be why you hate him. You've just only heard the bad ones I guess. I'm not sure you truly understand what a mnemonic device is. I feel like you're not getting this at all. I'm not getting it. Which is confusing because usually you're the smart one. And he's also an English major. That also. We'll quiz you next week. Great. So back to the real point though. Who doesn't know Taft right? Like he got stuck in a bathtub. Even the dumbs know Taft because he's the fun one. He's the one who's fat. He's hilarious. That's how Frazier should have taught him. Well actually we should we should test that theory. Brad did you know about Taft? I did. You know I know very random political things. Is getting stuck in a bathtub political? I don't think it is. A. I'm pretty sure I've gotten stuck in a bathtub. And if not it's likely something I will do one day. That's true. And B. I think I was alive when Taft was president. You know because I age weird. You were not. It is weird to me that the history in this like the things he needs to know to pass his like senior year high school history is like footnotes of history. Like William Henry Harrison whose only claim to fame is that he was president for like nine days. And Taft's only real claim to fame that people talk about is the bathtub thing. Are these the most important things in history class? Curtis you would know this. Isn't there a Parks and Rec episode about William Henry Taft? Oh wow you don't know. Did you fuse them together as a joke or was that a real attempt? You need a mnemonic device I think. Halfway through I realized I was saying the wrong thing and I could have fixed it but then I was like you know what I'm just gonna go for it. I think you're right. Now that you say it I think William Henry Harrison does have a ruined cabin in season seven. It sounds like something Leslie Knope would be able to tell. Did Harrison plan his presidential campaign while sitting around the hearth which used to be there? Did he write letters to Thomas Jefferson on his roll top desk which you know I don't know might have existed. Yeah because he's from Indiana that part I do know. Why do you know that? Weirdly know a lot of like presidents and where they're from mostly because there's no presidents that were born to me in Logan State. Well you know the murder rates and all that. Curtis will know there's five presidents from Ohio? I think it's eight. I know it's tied with Virginia. Both states claim eight presidents including one that was born in Virginia but spent most of his life in Ohio. His name was William Henry Harrison. We talked about how they use voicemails as a plot device. I have a lot of questions for Logan about voicemails but before that are you guys surprised that Kirby and Frazier are not getting along? No. They're not not getting along he's just doing a bad job teaching them. I just thought Kirby didn't want to learn. I wouldn't say it was him against Frazier. I just think it was him against learning. Yeah 100%. So Logan in this episode there's the voice recording. Did you have one of those at your house? No. Listen I was born in 2003 so by the time I could remember those were of the past. Oh my god. It was literally after this episode. I was going to say that is something Brad did alert us to that you are our first guest who was born after this episode aired. I'm making history. You're saying your family didn't have a landline though in 03? I guess you were a baby though. We had a landline but we never had a voicemail box. Like we had like the skinny landline. I'm pretty sure that we're all saying the wrong thing because this might predate voicemail. I think this would have been an answering machine. I don't think I've ever actually seen an answering machine in real life before. If it makes you guys feel any more older Logan was four years old when we met each other. Why would that make us feel older? I feel so old. You don't know how old you were when you said that. That doesn't do anything for me. For the record I've worked at that place for 20 years so now I'm an old man okay? Well yeah. I feel old knowing that when I met you I was 13 and now I'm 22. Like that makes me feel old. Well. So we're using the answering machine or whatever we're calling it today as a plot device again. It's been been a while. It's been about two seasons. Good to see it back. Yeah I feel like answering the scenes were like a classic 90s sitcom trope of storytelling. Yeah when they do things at the exact perfect time for someone to overhear it. It's always so useful. How do people even move shows along nowadays? How do they even do that? Did you hear the phone ring? I don't remember. It went to the answering machine way too quick for sure. Yeah okay. Maybe they had it on like do not disturb. Maybe that was a setting. I don't know. Again 2001. I don't think that was a setting. It had been set. The phone had been set to airplane mode so it went straight to the answering machine. Makes a lot of sense. None of us have ever seen an answering machine because we're all way too young so who knows. At one point Kirby gets scolded from Lana. Hey Kirby go wash up. And use water! Uh funny but what what is a wash up without water? I was also confused by that. It would have made more sense if it was like use soap this time but you just say water. The joke is confusing. Do you think he just sort of licked his arm and rubbed it on him like a cat? That's using water though isn't it? I don't know. I think if it's saliva it it's transformed from pure water. Now it's now it's saliva. Oh you use pure water. I didn't know I was talking about Mr. Ritzy over there. When I think water I don't think saliva but that's just me surprisingly. I think that he's probably just soaked himself up before and forgotten to use water so it's just all over him. That also makes sense. Does it? Only because it's Kirby. Yeah I can see Kirby doing it. I don't think it makes sense. Do you feel like Lana has a very commanding presence? I think that's what they want. They want her to have like this commanding presence especially over Frasier because she's like supposed to be the opposite of Claire when it comes to relating to Frasier. Yeah she's very authoritative. She's wasting her career as a real estate agent. She could be like a CEO or something. Yeah I like it when she gets yelly. I feel like she's really good at the yelling. You're into that? Yeah that's my kink. Oh okay. A spry Niles dodges ducks dips dives and dodges Daphne's fitful sleep. She still wins. I don't like a ton to talk about with these bits. I know. It's where we went back to it. It's basically the same exact scene like it'll do anything that creative to make it different than the first scene like he does a ninja rollover like he's doing different tricks. Yeah the first scene he is completely dogged by her and in this scene he's sort of figuring out some tricks to like avoid uh having a hard time sleeping but he ultimately is not there yet. He hasn't fully figured it out. Yes but I Curtis I think this would have landed better as if like the first scene was them just like talking about it and we didn't see it and then we saw it in this scene. Then I think it would have landed a lot better. Oh maybe. It is weird that this is very unfrasier like to go back to this well. I think they do it three times total and it's it's unusual. Kirby meets Roz who he thinks is hot. Frasier gets him to buckle down and study by offering up Roz as a prom date. Oh Curtis guess what it's time for your Twitter question of the week. Ooh let's hear it. Codex. It's Codex. Yeah no this is for Twitter though. What's the oldest person you would take to prom? I think nowadays it's hard because I feel like the age restriction is so much more strict. You say nowadays but you went to prom like this year so what are you talking about? Even when I went. Oh you mean nowadays compared to with the show? Yeah I had a couple people bring people who graduated a year or two and we thought that like it was a little strange that people who already graduated high school were going to a prom. So I would say anyone who's still in high school is is game but anyone who's out of high school is probably not or should not be a prom. Okay but the question was age so technically you could be held back. And I'm gonna say the age of 19. 19 okay. Yeah. Curt? I just want to volunteer that friend of the show Kenny Shaq my brother did go to prom a year after he left high school because his girlfriend now wife uh was uh still in high school. Well make sure he knows that Logan does not approve. I'm texting him now. Yeah I think Logan's reasoning is solid. Anyone too far removed from high school it's really fucking weird. I think 19 maybe one year after high school is maybe I'm up it to 20. If you're 20 years old and you've got a girlfriend or a boyfriend who's maybe just a couple years younger than you that maybe is okay but that's definitely the limit. If I was in high school I would have taken like a 50 year old why not? That sounds rant. That sounds correct. 50 was the upper limit. Yeah exactly. So I remember all of you you can figure out how to tweet to us let us know what's the oldest person you would take to prom. Hold on Ryan answer the question. I don't usually answer him do I? He does not. I don't even remember uh Raj Bibiv. Good because we'll be asking that'll be the Twitter question of the week next week. If you want my answer that it would be 18. Let's get these 19 year olds out of here. I don't care if they're your boyfriend. Sorry Kenny. So there's a moment where Kirby is talking about how hot Roz is and he asks Frazier. She has got to be pretty distracting around the office huh? Oh yes well sometimes but she's union so you put up with it. What a dick thing to say. Like she's basically your best friend who isn't a family member. Okay but counterpoint she is a distraction. Literally every guy in the office other than Gil is into her. You don't think Gil's into her? I know he isn't. He really strikes me as such a man's man the way he talks. I'm 100% confident he isn't but he pretends to be. So she's definitely a distraction and that line was definitely my favorite of the whole night. Kirby finally makes some progress. Marty bitches endlessly about being left out until he gets a call inviting Eddie over. I'm annoyed they invited him. I would have much rather him through the end of the episode. I forgot about this this plot until this scene. I was like oh yeah that's this episode. Well the question I guess is was he like pity invited you think or was it genuinely it got lost in the mail and the guy was like where's Marty? I thought he was gonna come. I think the guy found out that Marty was a former cop and assumed he had cop buddies and then decided oh I better invite him. I just assumed Marty doesn't know how to check his mail. I think Marty spent an entire day at the dog park bad mouthing and bitching about this party and it got back to the guy and Marty was being catty and so he invited the dog. That's why I would especially not have invited him if I found out he was being catty. I forget do they live in the same building right? It's not like he's gotta travel. Yes they don't specify that do they? I think they just mentioned the dog park. Yeah I think they just talked dog park which we saw I assume is the one we saw last week. Okay. Which Daphne will no longer ever be going to so hopefully it's not like the building's dog park. That's true. Kirby should have played Shaggy from Scooby-Doo right? The hair is just amazing. He's wearing like a green shirt in this scene I think he like he looks straight out of Scooby-Doo. Logan we're just checking you know who Scooby-Doo is right Logan? Yeah Matthew Lillard. Can I get that name right? Yeah oh yeah yeah you nailed it you nailed it. Here's the question Logan do you think that's the original Scooby-Doo? No no no but that's the original live action though right? Scooby-Doo is very old who knows but it's the only one anyone's ever watched. I've only seen Velma. I'm glad it only took us almost four seasons to finally talk about uh Matthew Lillard uh Willard. We knew he would come up eventually Ryan you know? A national treasure. Did you just pronounce his name right and then change it to Willard? He incorrected it. Yes. Did you just coin that phrase incorrected it? Yeah I think so. He didn't want to prove that he could remember names. I didn't even have Logan defend me because I've called him the wrong name a hundreds of times. Oh yes. Logan what's the worst thing Brad's ever called you? Do you remember? I have no idea. Did he ever call you dad or? It would be really weird if he called a 13 year old dad. It was weird when he called someone his own age then. The only thing and he would call me Ben but that's my twin but that's literally it. That feels above board. I never felt that Brad ever called me the wrong name that offensively that I have it still in my head. Oh he called me his own name twice. Is Brad so frequently calling people by the wrong name that it's just like you can't get upset by any one name because he's just constantly doing it? That could be possible. Yeah I could see that. And just the amount of wrong names he's called people throughout his time working at his work like yeah. Kirby, Roz, and the rest of their prom crew show up at the same restaurant of Claire's date. Lana arrives to bring Kirby a camera and freaks out when she sees Roz. Claire loses her shit too and Frasier smooths everything over. This one's tough to tough to get started with right so this is we all meet at a restaurant. It's hard to tell if it's weird that the Kirby and his prom gang are there at the same place Frasier is or not but I guess we just it's fine. He went there because Frasier recommended it. Yeah. I just thought it was weird that we went from him overhearing the voicemail to the date and there wasn't like a scene in between. I think structurally it's fine like we don't need a another random scene. Yeah we had to check in with Niles and Daphne. We had to make sure they were sleeping okay. Yeah I agree though I think it's fine. I don't need to see all the admin to get there. I know you want to see that Brad but you know we can we can we don't have to see every little bit. Well again Logan will attest this I do love good operations and logistics. Roz doesn't have a ton to do in this episode really but I think what she gets is great. So when she's saying don't order for the lady like that's tacky and then we cut to Frasier doing exactly that. Great smash cut. She also insists she's not going to buy anybody alcohol and so Kirby orders Cokes and and she says yeah the ladies will have Jack Daniels in it. Yeah it was a nice bet. I am disappointed that one because we knew prom was coming. I expected the invocation of prom to be prom. It's interesting there's the pre-dinner prom and at first it was disappointing but I think they I think it really paid off because it would have been much weirder to cut to a gym and it's just a bunch of like kids dancing like there's no way they could have done that as fun as what they did with this with this restaurant. Yeah you're famously always a fan of the the scenes that sort of tie a bunch of things together and have a big explosion of of chaos and I feel like this is a version of that for sure. It is that and I did like it but it was like the it was like a predictable almost version even though I didn't predict this obviously it felt like a like the the logical version of this like as each beats coming you're like oh okay that's what we're doing. Yeah no I 100% agree with you Ryan once this scene starts like it dominoes like uh exactly what you expect is going to happen in each part. Yeah so it was it was good but it's still it's not like in the middle of the scene I wasn't like thrown for a loop like you know that that didn't happen which is what I really love but this was still really good and also Curt didn't all build together because where was Niles and Daphne? Why weren't they having trouble sleeping in the restaurant? That wasn't missed by the writers. You know they could have been fighting in the corner about the sleep. They could have been fighting in the corner about the sleep. That's true. That actually wasn't great. I think the one area where it was not predictable was that Frasier somehow manages to pull everybody back from the brink and like calm down at the end. I'm not sure I buy it either. No it all happened so quickly. They hey they all should have got thrown out so quickly. The whole restaurant was staring at them. Yeah they tried to throw him out. He tells the restaurant to give him a minute. He does. And B yeah it is weird that then uh Frasier is the man of reason. That's not that he's the man of the reason. It's it's weird that it works right like because Curt you're dead on like they should be freaking out and he should try to do his thing and it should go even worse and that is not what happened. Right and I think if if this was just writers trying to come up with a fun episode it all would have blown up in his face. I think because this was meant to be a lead into a season finale of this these relationships it had to continue forward. Like I feel like everything we've seen of Claire is her having lots of reasons to like actively dislike Frasier and then for no reason being like I kind of love you Frasier. Yeah well she goes you're strange and charming it's like oh we really got to figure out how to capture that because Brad this is like exactly your lane you're trying to get in. It is true. Yeah you're right I need to I need to act more like Frasier. You're strange but you need to figure out the charming thing. Well you know I'm very charming I just haven't met the person that has been charmed by me quite yet. How about that for an answer? It's all the women's fault. Logan does your mom have any friends that you think she could hug up with Brad? Unfortunately not. That's like a camp HIPAA violation. That's fine. I'm sure Brad doesn't know HIPAA and I'm sure he's violated and so on. Frasier calls Lana to talk about Claire while waiting in line for the boss. This scene threw me off. This was a joke I liked. I did not expect him to be sitting after the boss tickets. Well first Logan do you know who Bruce Springsteen is? Yes of course I know who Bruce Springsteen is. And did you know his nickname was the boss? No. Okay. Really? Oh that's surprising. I just figured you kids got Wikipedia like in your head already. You just know everything. Genuine generational question. When they zoomed out and he was in line for tickets did you already know that that was a thing people did? Did you get it from context clues or were you a little confused? What is he doing? You know at first when I kind of saw him I was like what is he doing out there like waiting? Did he get stranded somewhere? And then when I saw the person next to him I was like all right like I think I know what's happening. But when I first saw him standing outside first I didn't see it was a cell phone. I thought he was at a payphone. I'm glad you know what a payphone is. And then it all kind of came together. They're doing like that joke on purpose right? Like you're not supposed to realize he's in that line. So fair enough. But it sounds like you were very comfortable after the zoom out. Like oh I'm familiar with this situation. Even though y'all would never be in it. I thought that was a funny deal to like get Roz the tickets in exchange. I thought that was a funny exchange. I think it's very fair. Which I think works on its own. Like we didn't need him to deny her the PTO. All we needed was him to be the one to stand in line. Yeah he would have been more offended by that. Now technically everybody won. I also thought the whole joke was that he had to take PTO to do it. Oh that's actually really funny Brad. Does he have to take PTO if she takes PTO? Like can he do his job if she's not there to help him? Does he get a sub? They probably cancel the show. No they do reruns. They do best of Frasier. Oh yeah reruns. Good call. Yeah. Would Roz need to be there if it was a rerun? Probably not. Exactly. Interesting. Frasier plays this out with Daphne and Niles back in bed. Niles sleeps soundly while being pushed off the bed into a smaller bed on the floor. Oh I missed the smaller bed thing. I was just like oh we're doing this great. We're doing this again. I felt comfortable. I didn't really pay that much attention. Yeah I didn't see the smaller bed either. Curtis you making a smaller bed? Harold thinks. Logan help me out. Did you see a smaller bed or like a mattress? Not only did he see a smaller bed he didn't even wake up. He just immediately fell from the bigger bed to the smaller bed like nothing happened. Yeah. That's his solution. Just don't fight her. Just accept that you're going to be pushed off the bed and have a place to go. Yeah to embrace it. I was too busy focusing on the hump that Daphne does. I'm pretty sure she had like a body double in there and that person really went for the hump. You don't think that was the actress who plays Daphne? No. I think they got someone else in. Interesting. That I didn't see. I was focused on the tiny bed. It's a hell of a hump. Okay. Well Logan what did you think of the episode? I thought the episode was great. You know I it definitely provided me with a lot of laughs and my favorite part of Frasier is always seeing Frasier and Niles Banser and I definitely thought they did that effectively in the cafe and I thought overall this was a great episode. We need some way to sort of uh quantify it though for you. Use some sort of scale. I would rate it a solid eight out of ten. Oh ten's my thing. You're gonna have to pick a different scale. Sorry. I'm gonna rate it how many espresso shots I needed to stay awake to watch it. I would rate it on a one which means I was engaged the whole time. Ooh. How many coffees do you drink in a day just to complete the scale? I drink two coffees and a soda at lunch. Oh wow. That's a lot of caffeine. Okay. Good. I like that. I think that's our first scale of it's on the golf approach of smaller is better. Yeah. You did fantastic. Very well done. I think it's genuinely a compelling scale as well. After you leave we're probably gonna steal it. It's ours now. In fact you have to pick something else because I'm gonna use that one. Yeah. Use a rank it against every episode ever made. Brad what about you? This is definitely the best episode we've seen of this season so far. Not that it's only been three episodes but it's clearly the best one. Like we've said the Niles bit was a little stupid. The rest was pretty good. I'm gonna give it B+. I think I'm mostly in agreement. I put this at 38 out of 85 so pretty close to the middle but definitely on the higher end. I thought it was better than Love Stinks. That was the one where we met Roger and I thought it was worse than the 200th which was the one with Adam Arkin. Who's Adam Arkin? We don't have time. I enjoyed the episode. It's on the positive side of middling I'd say of what we've seen. I think we're all in the same ballpark. I think Brad you went a little high. I put it at 6.8. It's definitely way better than most of season 9 if not all of it. It was really good. It was just snappy. It moved along culminated in a big scene. You know it's everything you could hope for other than Marty. If Marty would have just not got invited to that party I think we'd be easily in the 7s. God I forgot about that scene again. I think it's actually really interesting that like we've been for a consistent amount of time just watching lots and lots of the back end of Frasier and so we have like a sense of where this falls. Like we're comparing it directly to everything else and I like that Logan coming in he probably I'm assuming you haven't been like religiously watching it and you haven't watched it that recently. You're just like putting on a random episode of Frasier and you enjoyed it. You had a good time and and like even a middle episode can still do that. That's a good sign I think. Oh yeah I haven't seen an episode of Frasier in probably over a year at this point and this coming in watching this random episode this was kind of like quintessential Frasier for me. Like this is kind of what I expect from a Frasier episode in all of the best ways. Yeah I think you got a little lucky. We've been on a pretty rough tear. Season 9 was clearly I hope it's the worst. I've said I thought season 10 was gonna be. Season 9 was definitely worse and really bad at some stretches and even season 8 ended pretty poorly so you got you got pretty lucky. Somehow every season going backwards is worse. I'm a little concerned yeah. Like it started out dog shit and eventually got to pretty okay. If season 11 is the best season I will be I will be disappointed. Frasier makes a deal with Lana for his perfect match. Kirby makes a deal with Frasier for his prom crush and Niles makes a deal with the devil forcing him to share a bed with the most aggressive sleeper in recorded history. But what deals would we make? It's another edition of prom date, soulmate, or sleep hate. So how this is gonna work I have randomly assigned each of us three Frasier characters and we are each gonna have to decide which of them we would take to prom, which one we would take on a long-term relationship seeking date and which we would share a bed with them for the night. So Logan, your characters are Claire, Daphne, and Lana. Oh, interesting. Brad, you get Daphne, Frasier, and Roz. All the women are gone already. That's interesting. Well to be clear, this was random each time. There aren't enough characters to give all of us unique characters. So there are repeats. Both Logan and Brad have gotten Daphne. It's only people from this episode. Yes. I wasn't gonna throw in random side characters from episodes that we haven't had Logan watch. Got it. That makes a lot of sense, but I did not know that's what was happening. Ryan, yours are Niles, Daphne, and I swear to God, this is what the random generator did. I did not do this on purpose. Shut up. Marty. Oh no. Oh no. And I got, and I think my first pick here, Ryan, will tell you that I did not rig this. I got Kirby, Roz, and Daphne. Oh, what am I? I'm devastated. That's okay, because I've got some good news. You are not necessarily stuck with these people. We're going to make deals to trade away some of whoever you don't want. So the way this is gonna work, each of us has one person we can steal from. So you'll have an option to take a character from somebody. Oh, great. But in order to do that, you've got to get an approval from someone else. What? What? Ryan, here's what's gonna happen. You get to steal from me. Oh, okay. But you have to negotiate with Brad. Brad, I wanna, I'm gonna steal from Curt. Hold on. Do you approve? No, no, no. That's not gonna be how it works. So, Ryan, reminder, you have Niles, Daphne, and Marty. You know I'm only focused on one right now. I know. I have Kirby, Roz, and Daphne, and there's no reason you can't have two Daphnes, just to be clear. You don't have to pick somebody that is, uh, unique. There are novelty there. Is one of these somebody you would like to steal? Yes. Okay, who would you like to steal? I would obviously like to steal Roz. Okay, now you're gonna negotiate with Brad. So how this will work, Brad has Daphne, Frazier, and Roz, and Brad, Ryan has Niles, Daphne, and Marty. So basically, Ryan, if you can give someone away that Brad will accept, then you get to steal the person you said you wanted to steal from me who I've already forgotten. What did that mean? I would have four people? Yeah, I don't get that either. Yes, and then you get to discard whoever you don't want most to me. Oh, that makes more sense. Okay. Oh, this is terribly confusing, Curt. I like it. Terribly confusing, yeah. Okay, uh, Brad. Yeah. I'll give, I'll give you Niles for me to take Roz off of Curtis's hands. Uh, I don't want Niles. No, it's David Hyde Pierce, Brad. I, um, okay, fine. You know what? I will take Niles. I'll change my mind. I'll take Niles. I knew you would. Okay, we have a deal. Ryan has cinched Roz. Which means now Brad has Niles, and he gets to discard a human being. I don't, you said discard, but it's not really a discard. He's giving them to you. So Brad, you had Daphne, Frazier, and Roz. Which of those would you like to throw at me? Oh, Frazier, absolutely. Yeah. I think it's the right choice. Yeah. I think so too. Much rather have Niles over Frazier, so I'm totally fine with that. Fair enough. All right, deal accomplished. Next up is Brad. Well, I thought that was the end of the game. Are we still going? All right, so Brad, you get to steal from Logan. Okay. And you get to negotiate with me. So Logan has Claire, Daphne, and Lana. Are there any of those you would like to take? Claire, Daphne, I'll take Lana. Okay. Logan, how do you feel about him trying to steal your Lana? It's fine with me. I don't know enough about her character. She's domineering. You do me. What? We know Lana more than Claire. Yeah, that's true. Brad, you have Daphne, Roz, and Niles. Who are you going to try and foist on me? You know, I think I want you to have Niles. Will you take Niles? No. No, thank you. You've got a tasty Roz over there that I'm eyeing. Yeah, you have to remember I was stolen from him. Will you take Daphne? You know what? I will take Daphne, even though it means I'll have two Daphnes. I like the idea of having multiple Daphnes. You're going to do a Daphne double down. I'm doubling down on Daphne. I'm doing it. I'm making the deal. Sorry, Logan. You lose Lana. There's a certain novelty to it, right? Yeah. And you know what? I'm going to give away Kirby because I feel like he's closer to your age range. I feel like you might get along with Kirby. Funny. All right, Logan, it's your turn. You are stealing from Brad and you're negotiating with Ryan. Here is what you have currently, Logan. Claire, Daphne, and Kirby. And you can steal from Brad a Lana, Roz, or Niles. No, I think I'm actually fine with the people that I have. Wow. I think I can make solid choices from the three that I have. I love that you're like, I'm good. No, hold on. Who's his people again? He's got Claire, Daphne, and Kirby. Yeah, I actually feel good about this. Okay, let's think. Let's take a minute, Logan. Let's breathe. Let's get in our zen space. I don't think you're thinking this through. We have to figure this out, Logan. We can't just settle, right? You have to go after stuff. Well, let's step into this. Logan, Lana, Roz, and Niles, do any of them, would you want to be at prom with any of them? I was taking Kirby to prom. Oh. No, I think that's a good choice. Yeah, he seems like a party. That's true. It looked like he was ready to have a blast before Lana came in. I was excited to see where this was going to go. Roz would be more fun at prom, though. Would she? She didn't seem like she was fun in that scene. Yeah, she didn't seem like a party. She seemed like she was miserable at the restaurant. With her boss that was there? Yeah. Before him, she didn't see him at first. Honestly, I think if you're going to put Roz in any slot, it might be spending night in bed with her. Well, that's true, too. What are we going to do with Claire? Don't tell us yet. We don't actually tell us. Just think about it. Like, I think we can do better, Logan. Weak Link is Claire. Okay. So let's get rid of her. Let's ship her off. Ryan just wants to get a new person. Yeah, it's all about Ryan. No. Say, Ryan, do you want Claire? Well, I don't think I can do that, right? I have to... Wait, what? Well, who's doing what? You can stake your claim, Ryan, if you're like, the only way I want to negotiate is if you give me this. You can do that. Wait, I forget what's happening. He's trying to trade with me? Yeah. Well, yeah, he's negotiating with you. You have technically the power, Ryan, because he doesn't get a deal unless you approve of it. But it doesn't sound like he's terribly interested in trying to convince you. He's supposed to take from Brad, and I have to just agree to it, right? If he offers you somebody that you are willing to... I don't care who I get. I will take any deal. We need to get... You need to think about yourself, Logan. You can do better. Who do you have again? Yeah, who do I have, Curt? You still have Marty. You have Daphne, and you have Roz. I was very excited to get rid of Marty and then realized at the start of the game that that's not what... We weren't doing trades, but now I'm still stuck with this old guy. I would steal from Brad. So, Brad, who do you... So, you say you have Niles, but who are you others to? Roz and Lana. I mean... The thing about Claire, she's basically female Frasier. It's fine if you keep. You don't have the best options to steal, so... Exactly, because I was thinking... So, like, my thought process was go to prom with Kirby, go on a date with Claire, and then just pull a Niles and have a bed next to the big bed with Daphne. I love that the one character who is portrayed as being the worst person to be in a bed with is the person you want to be in the bed with. Yeah, but he also knows the corrective steps. You have to be prepared, and since I already know how to be prepared, I would come in ready to go. Smart. He's playing smart. I'm only going to say one more thing about this. You are fine to stick your guns, but Ryan admitted that he will make any deal. I'll make any deal. He is going to be easily taken advantage of. Absolutely. If you want one of mine, I can offer that up. I don't know if that's allowed, but... Don't think I want to steal Marty, so you know what? I think I'm going to say no to that one. I bet a two for one. All right, Logan, final answer. Are you locking in? No deal? Yeah, I'm going to lock in. Okay, finally, it's my turn. So, I get to steal from Ryan. Oh, hurt. Got an intriguing character for you. Uh, and I'm negotiating with Logan, who we know is happy where he's at, but here's the deal. Can I interest you in a Frasier, Logan? You know what? You could, and I would just, I would just... What? Frasier with Claire. Why are you so amenable to stuff now? It's basically the same person. Yeah, okay, okay, because you know what I want? Oh, no. I want a trifecta. I want your Daphne, Ryan. No deal. You don't get a say. Logan, you'll take Frasier? No, I'll take the deal. Oh, Logan, what are you doing? Because what's the difference if I go on a date with Frasier or go on a date with Claire? It's going to be the same talking point. Well, one of them's going to be nice, and one of them's going to be like all, you know, he's in order for you and stuff. All right, we have our standings. Logan, I feel like you've already sort of answered this, but can you walk us through? You now have Frasier, you have Daphne, and you have Kirby. Can you walk us through your prom date, your soulmate, and your sleep hate? Yes. So, to start off with my prom date, I've decided to go with Kirby. I believe that Kirby, being the youngest member and being the most excited about a prom, I think he would be the most fun. And being closest to my age, I also feel like it would be very fun to go with Kirby versus Frasier, who would probably make it a very philosophical night. And go on to the date. I would like to go on a date with Frasier because, while I don't see anything in the future, I think it would be very entertaining. I feel like he would have a lot to say, and I think that would be a very laughable experience to look back on. And then, I'm going to say to share a bed with, I'm going to go, I'm going full Niles in the third bed scene. I mean, it's really well executed. I'll say that. It's a pretty good trifecta. That's exactly why I didn't need a deal. I felt pretty strong for my trifecta from the beginning. All right, Brad, what about you? You've got Lana, Roz, and Niles. I think I'm taking Niles as my prom date. Is that your best shot of getting lucky? You can explain that one? Ryan's right. I think he can talk to girls on my behalf. Oh, we'll sell it in there. And make me sound good, because Lana, I mean, that's obvious, the sleep one. I mean, I think there's no arguing that one. None of your answers make sense. Why is Lana the sleep one? Yeah, I'm confused. Because she's so aggressive. So I whip that in my sleeping. You know me. I like noise. I like violence. Yeah, he's right, Curt. That was the obvious answer for Brad. It's not the obvious answer. It's the obvious answer for Brad. Yeah, I like mayhem. And then soulmate. I mean, me and Roz would be perfect together for soulmates. Go on. That I do want to hear about. Because I'm hilarious, and she likes funny people, and I'm, you know, tall, dark, and handsome. So she could have resisted me, I'm sure. A trait she's never shown any interest in. She wouldn't put up with you for 10 minutes. I think you're wrong. When has she ever dated someone who's tall, dark, and handsome? Why are you saying that? Like, that's an obvious thing she's into. No comment. Okay, well, Ryan. No, I should go last. I'll go last. You can go. Well, mine's pretty simple. I've got, for my prom date, I want to go with somebody who's got an air of sophistication. You know, going to really elevate my presence by being somebody exotic. So a British woman named Daphne seems like a great choice. For my date, I think, you know, I want to go with somebody who's beautiful, who's an interesting conversationalist. I think I would go with somebody like Daphne for that. And then, you know, I love a challenge, and I love dodgeball, so I would welcome the challenge, like Logan, of spending a night in bed with one Miss Daphne Moon. I know you're the only one who understands the game, but are you also a criminal mastermind? Like, you really orchestrated something for yourself. You really gamed the system. I'm not sure how it happened, but it did. But, Ryan, bring us home. What'd you got? I'm in literal hell. I don't know who I have, but I know I'm in hell. Yeah, we didn't design this game to have winners and losers. Just interesting conversation, but you definitely lost. I definitely lost by a country mile. By the way, I think Logan clearly won because he's the only one who, from jump, was very content. Just happy where it ever. You're like a winner. He won because he put me in hell. Hurt. Yeah, you had one shot, it turns out, to get rid of that Marty, and he did not. Approved. So wait, so why don't you remind everyone who Ryan has right now? Marty, Claire, and Roz. When did I get Claire? Oh, at the end. Okay. I knew you didn't know who you had. Don't know what's happening. Logan discarded Claire and threw it into your pile. Marty, Claire, Roz. There's so many ways to go with this, actually. Let's do the easy one first. I would long date Claire. That does surprise me a little bit. I'm not Frasier, right? So I would be like, just constantly asking her questions, being like, what the hell's going on? Blah, blah, blah. Like, oh, what's this? Oh, I see. You're going for that contrast. You're a schlub. And you want to see what it's like to date somebody with class. I get it. Yeah, I can picture dating Roz. I can't picture her. I don't know what it'd be like with Claire. Okay. I respect that. Here's the real challenge, though, is what are we doing next? Are you going to take an old man to your prom or are you going to take him to bed? I don't want to share a bed with an old man. I'm just saying it's a big bed and we could probably work it out. I think I take Roz to prom because I want to have a fun prom. I want to have memories, a magical thing going on. And by the way, I think if you're not actively trying to hit on Roz the way Kirby is, I think she would be more relaxed and more willing to have a fun time of it. Yeah. Definitely. I think we could have a good time. And I think if I'm sleep hating next to Marty, I could hump him off the bed. I only have to do that one night and I'm covered. I just want to clarify. There does not have to be any sexual touching at all in the bed. I'm doing that exact motion that Daphne does in the scrambled egg scene. And he goes flying and there's no little bed for his protection. He's just hitting the floor. It was the use of the word hump that put me in. But she did. She did. Whatever. Whatever we have to do to get the job done, Curt. I don't know. I don't have to tell you. I don't know how I did it, but I somehow engineered a game in which Ryan had to spend a night with an old man. It's a disgusting nightmare, Curt. An old man he hates. I hate this. It was always your dream and you got it done. Ryan, why don't you tell us what to expect next week when we cover the previous episode of Season 8, Episode 21, Semi-Decent Proposal. Once again, Curt will mislead me and make me watch some random episode that isn't the one we're actually supposed to watch. And then gaslight me about it later and be like, oh, why didn't you watch the real episode? I'll be like, is this the one you said? You piece of work. I think Season 8's cursed. Paramount Plus threw us off a couple weeks ago. And now I'm throwing you off. I clearly copy and pasted the wrong episode. I'm pretty sure last episode might have confused some of our listeners if they're eagle-eared and wondered why we were previous previewing the wrong episode. But yeah, sorry about that. It was another one where they aired on the same day, too. So it was like, oh, Paramount Plus screwed it up again. And nope, nope. This time they got it right. So fuck me, I guess. Or to screw it up again. I still don't understand. You claimed that you looked it up to verify, and yet you still watched the wrong one? I didn't, like, thoroughly look it up, right? Because I'm trying to avoid spoilers. So I just did a quick Wikipedia. I saw the one. I thought I got the third one from the top, but I didn't linger. Because I'm not trying to get spoiled, Curt. You have to. You have to. Let it linger. Well, on that note, that will do it for us. Thanks to Gavin McLeod for our theme music, and thank you for listening. All right, Curt, move along. Why are you lagging on the scene? What are you doing, man? Tack and cringe tonight has been great. Let's just keep doing this. Why are you parking this one, man?

Logan explains that his junior prom was canceled and his senior prom was arranged by the PTA, including his mother, in a large hall. The Zoom-prom suggestion is a joke, not his account. His mother chaperoned from the hallway. His twin brother loves Frasier and older sitcoms; Logan has seen some episodes and praises the writing. He had wanted to join the podcast because of that connection.

Curtis objects that a mnemonic adds things to remember and says he has not heard of Roy G. Biv, rendered “Roy G. Bibb” in the automatic transcript. Challenged to list the rainbow’s colors, he says he is looking at the answer after searching it. No color list or scored quiz follows. The others propose quizzing him next week, then return to the presidents discussed in the episode.

Logan initially says 8/10, then adopts espresso shots needed to stay awake and gives one, meaning he stayed engaged. Lower is better on his scale. Brad gives B+. Curtis ranks it #38 of 85, placing it above Love Stinks and below The Two Hundredth; Ryan gives 6.8 and says it might reach the sevens if Marty had remained uninvited. The /10 display follows the established convention; it is not spoken alongside 6.8.

The stated game design has no winners or losers. Before Ryan completes his choices, the group jokes that he lost and an unnamed participant says Logan clearly won because he was content from the start. These are teasing assessments, not scored results. Curtis closes by marveling that the game left Ryan sharing a bed with an old man.
