Curtis introduces himself as “your chained up ghost host.”
Introduced as “our resident Bob Cratchit.” Ryan wishes Curtis a merry Christmas and questions the apparition over people’s beds.
Introduced as “a man as sickly and frail as tiny Tim.” Brad thanks Curtis for calling him skinny and treats the description as a compliment.
Sneha Kogan returns with a Scrooge-themed introduction: “a woman who appreciates” the show “about as much as Ebenezer Scrooge loved Christmas.” She jokes about another generic episode. The transcript renders the show name as “frail.”
Humbug to reverse psychology the Frasier rewatch podcast where the ghost of Christmas past takes us backwards through every episode of the show tonight the ghost of Christmas present will guide us through season 8 episode 8 Merry Christmas which originally aired on December 12 2000 did this episode give us some sugar we'll find out appearing over your bed I'm your chained up ghost host Curtis Shaq joining me as always is our resident Bob Cratchit it's Ryan Sansone Merry Christmas Curt and what are you talking about why why are you cratching over people's beds what's wrong with you it's a literary illusion is it speaking of which also with us is a man as sickly and frail as tiny Tim it's Bradley Kirkston thank you Curtis for calling me skinny what a great way to start this episode sickly did you say skinny I said sickly I'm gonna take it as a compliment oh you heard frail and you turned that into skinny yes correct I'm gonna take the frail as meaning skinny because you know Curtis is just such a giving man during this holiday season I appreciate that thank you what kind of body issues do you have to be for someone to call you frail and be like oh thank you every time Curtis talks I just I hear the positives in his voice not the negatives well another positive we have somebody else joining us tonight it's a woman who appreciates frail about as much as Ebenezer Scrooge loved Christmas it's Sneha Kogan thank you for having me guys I'm so excited to talk about yet another generic episode of frail you assumed we don't know maybe she's fully turned despite what she just said maybe she loves frail now yeah no I don't know that we've given her the strongest entry points to the series we'll find out tonight why what are we talking about well in this episode frazier is keen to be the guy doing the play-by-play of a Christmas parade I want to know from you all what is something you have always wanted to be like the announcer for so okay I'll start I think I want to be the auctioneer oh my god yes that auctions off storage I like this I like the specificity of that oh do you try that one more time Brad Curtis will text it in post I can't just invent you saying words correctly in post but that was actually going to be my answer too I would love to be in like a classic auctioneer host I think stay how you'd be a great auctioneer I love that you went to next level and said only for storage lockers yes only for storage lockers the mystery the oh my god am I gonna find a treasure so I think it's gonna be a good buy I should be getting for a good price or is it gonna be a bunch of trash but I'm also feeling a darkness that is enticing and exciting that's what our audience expects every time they play one of our episodes you want to give it a try right now you want to try to live your dream all right go store oh you haul storage unit number 320 oh but a wing what a wing what a wing what a are you doing an auction or are you drunk well she clearly got way too hung up on on the brand of storage unit when it comes to auctioning a storage unit you kind of have to be a little drunk or high yeah I think I respect that yeah any dealing with a storage unit you should be drunk or high yeah that summarizes it you nailed it Brad what about you I want to know before we go to Brad stay hot nailed it I don't know what you're doing yes anding her card you come up with your own stuff but stay hot crushed it thank you I literally came up with no other ideas that I was as soon as I thought of auction host I was like that's the answer nothing else can suffice yeah nothing else makes sense Brad tell them why they're wrong yeah because mine is like obviously the easiest announcing gig in the world and that's being a baseball announcer like all you're gonna do is pitch oh a home run I can easily do that that is how you're gonna announce a baseball game Brad you did a horrible job that's you're fired you are fired I'm gonna do the baseball announcing this is gonna be my uh rendition of it and I'm also gonna be the baseball player I'm talking about so here we go okay coming up to bat the Jewish hammer Bradley Kirk all right Bradley is a left-handed batter coming from the amazing community of Baltimore Maryland where it's so safe there Brad has the bat okay the pitcher throws the ball and whoa Brad hits a home run 600 feet it is amazing oh the crowd goes crazy the crowd goes crazy for the Jewish hammer I don't watch a lot of baseball do the announcers often reference the community that a person's from as opposed to the city not often I could picture so vividly Brad in an insane asylum doing that exact thing talking to himself Ryan what would you be doing in the insane asylum well it is fitting I love announcing anything I think it's fun to just sit with someone else and just pretend to call the action for literally anything but when I'm at my most embarrassing in my head that I don't share with other people but I'm sharing with you all today is that I love doing puzzles as I do puzzles I am doing the play-by-play for my for my puzzling I'm sorry what I don't understand I pretend I'm in a puzzle competition and that someone is calling the action well I like connect pieces and stuff that's bananas what is the puzzle competition there's so much to unpack here I haven't built out the full world I just know that in the moment I am I am up it's my turn to puzzle I don't know if I'm playing against anyone I don't know if it's a timed thing but I know the announcers are excited my experience with puzzles is there's a lot of staring time where you're not really doing anything do you announce that or are you just like when you finally put a piece in place oh I'm filling it the time you want me to like give you a little sample absolutely first of all you should always do announcers in British voice so you guys all screwed up before except stay hot auctioneer is the one that obviously is a Texas thing I can do a British accent my British accent is so good yeah if you want to do play-by-play with me I'm doing a puzzle okay great yeah yeah we can do it together okay you be the color commentator I'll do play-by-play okay welcome to this exciting matchup of the amazing puzzler we have lots of amazing action today the puzzling action is about to get started why are you Dutch Turkish for a little bit joining me as always is my play-by-play man the man that puts the an in puzzle uh let's give it up for Ryan Shanson Bradley I am right puzzled by today's competition look at this amazing competitor Ryan Shanson he is absolutely ready to steamroll the competition oh and a brilliant start he landed a connection within 10 seconds this kid is incredible today Ryan is competing against 748 other puzzlers from all around the world from Germany to Hong Kong to Zimbabwe the puzzling action is just incredible including people from Zimbabwe that is amazing and speaking of amazing another incredible blow for Ryan he landed a four chain in a row without even pretending to miss incredible stuff you know Sneha I've always known that we were exploiting uh mentally unstable person for this podcast I just didn't know it was both Ryan and Brad it's so bad it's so bad usually I'm not in the booth with someone I'm unexperienced well should we puzzle together what happened in this episode of Frasier we are putting the pieces together of the puzzle of Merry Christmas we open with the space needle lit up like a Christmas tree Frasier glazes Kelly Kirkland on air so she'll choose him as co-host to the Christmas parade Dr. Mary arrives with free copies of her new book and an announcement that she is returning to KACL I don't think you're using glazing right I think that means something else buddy it means flattering maybe it could but that's I don't think that's the popular usage okay okay so today how welcome back to Frasier world well you know you had a very weird introduction to it last time how did you feel here now in the radio station that I don't think you saw last time I did see it oh no wait you did see the radio station last time because you were here for the um what were you here for Sneha was in the harassed the episode it was actually mostly about the radio station it was the episode where uh they were in a sexual harassment seminar wow that is great memory Curtis it's not memory it's a spreadsheet oh computer memory that's great computer memory I mean or organizing is another way to impress us that's how I landed my man speaking of memory what was the question well how did you feel this time around you're a little more familiar with Frasier yeah I think the character development was not necessary right because we know what the show is about it's about Frasier and his hijinks and no lack of familiarity even though this was only the second episode of Frasier I've ever watched you know you've seen this episode the same amount of times Ryan has seen this episode so what did you guys think of the scene he was going really hard trying to woo over Mary who we're gonna meet for like 12 seconds that was a little I thought out of character sorry he wasn't groveling to Mary he was groveling to Kelly you're right I got him swapped yeah Mary hasn't arrived just yet but I I thought he was desperate to appease to Kelly as somebody who's desperate for a job preparing for an end which he was while doing it at his job at his job we've all done that never once well I am excited when Mary shows up because I fucking love Kim Coles Dr. Mary's a dynamo loved Dr. Mary yeah does she come in later no this is this is the first time we've met her that's a really good question this is the last time we will see her little sleuthin seems like we'll see her again yes in the in the backwards world that we live in yeah it sounds like we'll see her sometime in the previous season got it when I was far too young I watched reruns of living single all the time which is the queen latifah led sitcom that I really enjoyed
The games, the premises, and what everyone brought to the table.
Game / activity
The first mini-game collaboratively designs one shared float. Themes, decoration, crowd interaction and music develop into a single proposal; no individual winner or points are announced.
What everyone brought to the table · 4 recorded contributions
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Brad proposes gingerbread because he knows what it is. Ryan offers “jungle balls,” playing on jingle bells. Curtis proposes alcohol after a dry-2025 anecdote; Sneha proposes K-pop after repeated household viewing of Demon Hunters. The group selects K-pop.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
The group develops a Demon Hunters Santa with patterned decoration into a flying balloon. Ryan proposes making Santa the demon, and Sneha proposes the flying balloon; the design is collective.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Ryan proposes giving the crowd projectiles to pop Santa and release candy. Curtis develops his T-shirt-cannon idea into handing the cannons to the crowd; the shirts would bounce down before the balloon eventually pops like a piñata. This is fictional parade planning.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
After a mid-1990s R&B suggestion and a country-music proposal, the group settles on a DJ-style country/K-pop mixture. Brad proposes the country music. The final summary combines K-pop, the candy-filled demon Santa and crowd-operated cannons.
Game / activity
Participants give a one-word clue to a desired pop-culture balloon; the others guess. Curtis explains the rules; the recording identifies the clue givers and guessers below. No score or overall winner is stated.

Curtis gives “cat.” Ryan thinks he means his own cat. Sneha guesses Hello Kitty and Ryan guesses the cat from Cats; both are rejected. Curtis distinguishes his pet from the cartoon character after which it is named; the revealed name is confirmed as “Karobi,” preserved with that spelling.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Ryan gives “invisible”; Brad answers John Cena and is told he nailed it, confirmed in the recording.

Sneha gives “monument.” Curtis offers Washington Monument as an example or question; Ryan guesses Mount Rushmore, which is rejected. Sneha gives “monument.” Curtis offers Washington Monument as an example or question; Ryan guesses Mount Rushmore, which is rejected. Curtis first proposes the Martin Luther King monument; Brad proposes the Chicago bean, preserving the owner’s wording. Ryan proposes Statue of Liberty, Curtis guesses Discord (rejected), and Ryan guesses Dr. Frasier Crane. Sneha then reveals the Seattle Space Needle, linked to the show’s Christmas-tree opening. The recording confirms this is the clue giver revealing the answer, not a successful guess.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
The group changes the Santa-popping mechanism: a horizontal Space Needle balloon will approach and puncture demon Santa. Sneha is explicitly credited with suggesting the heart; the others discuss an approach from behind. No physical action is implied.
Game / activity
Brad is the only applicant for the parade’s Santa role. The group interviews him and accepts him, with jokes about keeping him away from children. The questioning voices remain anonymous.
What everyone brought to the table · 3 recorded contributions
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Brad opens as “Santa Brad,” is told Santa should not introduce himself that way, and changes to “Brad Santa.”
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Brad’s first answer sounds as if he gives the elves the cookie he already ate. He clarifies that he eats one and takes extra cookies back to the North Pole in his cookie sack.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Brad says red symbolizes the joy in people’s hearts. Asked why he does not shave, he says his beard immediately returns, citing The Santa Clause. The separate question about sounding like a ghost receives no explicit answer.
Game / activity
In a fictional bomb-threat mini-game, Curtis lists eight parade floats and the group eliminates candidates to find the threatened one. A proposal to eliminate Santa Brad would remove Brad’s voting rights, but that option is never selected. There is no individual winner or numerical score.
What everyone brought to the table · 6 recorded contributions
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
The options are the K-pop float, a cocoa hot tub, a Cheers bar, Santa Brad, gingerbread Nakatomi Tower, a giant Christmas sweater with Andalusian goats, High School Musical, and Island Niles on a sandy flatbed. The “flatbread” misunderstanding becomes a joke.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Before any clue, the group chooses the sweater/goat float over a High School Musical suggestion. It contains no bomb. The collective result is explicit; individual votes are not assigned.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
The first clue says it is fitting to take down the float “in this season.” The recording confirms the quoted clue ends at “this season.” The group interprets season as the Frasier season and eliminates cocoa, incorrectly.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
The next clue says, “I don’t care how much joy it brings, it must go.” Despite discussing High School Musical, the group destroys its own K-pop float. It is not the target.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
“White men always think they’re the hero” points the group toward Zac Efron. Sneha is asked for agreement; after briefly reconsidering the surviving options, they select High School Musical and successfully find the bomb. Individual assent voices are not invented.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
Curtis explains that “season” meant winter, the joy clue referred to Daniel, and the hero clue to Zac Efron. Two unused clues concern children and the speaker singing after the float is gone. Cheers, Santa Brad, Die Hard and Island Niles survive; Santa Brad moves earlier so Island Niles can close the parade.

Mary yeah does she come in later no this is this is the first time we've met her that's a really good question this is the last time we will see her little sleuthin seems like we'll see her again yes in the in the backwards world that we live in yeah it sounds like we'll see her sometime in the previous season got it when I was far too young I watched reruns of living single all the time which is the queen latifah led sitcom that I really enjoyed mostly for Kim Coles she is just the most charming person on the planet and I don't understand why she's not become a household name I would cherish you to the day I die and I'm gonna stop right now because I'm fitting to cry what does she do now do we know not enough I'll say that I've seen her in things pop up here and there but not often we see a lot of range out of her in this episode alone and she was good in everything she did yeah I saw her on the show while watching Frasier and I was like I know her for something else but I could not put my finger on it so stay how one of the common themes of Frasier is there's so many like guest actors and actresses that are in like a thousand things and like you everyone knows them for something different so uh this actress is exactly the same way she felt familiar but I don't I'm pretty confident I've never seen her before she's got like 50 shows under her belt since 1988 she was on Keenan and Kel that's how you know Ryan oh I mean I don't think I'd recognize her from Keenan and I assume she was younger I think the show I saw her on recently was mid-century modern which was not good but I was happy to see her oh yeah I couldn't get into that I watched one episode it sounds boring she was on a season of dancing with the stars all right that's enough of her career so I have let's talk about her here though here's a way that you can tell she's great she made Kenny look almost charming in this first scene yes I do agree she makes Kenny look like a presentable human being yeah she was doing so great in the ratings we had to steal her back now I thought you doctors took an oath not to hurt anybody you are killing us like what a great line out of him well let's talk about the business acumen of him the fact that he realized he was being killed in the ratings and he brought her back right I never thought Kenny would be a business wizard yeah we only know through context clues like we just know from the way they're talking that clearly she's doing much better as a radio host than Frasier is but it's clear this was a get yeah I'm also a fan of you know she's written this book presumably some kind of memoir called cornbread for the soul there's some point made about how she's not really a doctor she doesn't have a doctorate of any kind Dr. Mary has healed thousands of Seattle radio listeners and is a summa cum laude graduate of the school of hard knocks which is a place of learning I'm gonna use that one day I have used that multiple times in my life I wish they would reference that Mary still does the parade and future Christmas episodes because now this is I think our third or fourth Christmas episode at this point even if they just hired her for like voice work just to like have the tv on and you quietly hear some of her color commentary of the parade in one of the Christmas episodes just as like an easter egg I know this is not the era of television where they did stuff like that but it would have been fun just to have Frasier stew over it would have been fun but oh if they would have had her do like his stupid bit in like a on season 10 or something oh my god that would have been amazing see again the writers for Frasier if you are listening foresight is not a strength that you guys had step it up step it up agree you should have had foresight that people are gonna watch this the wrong way around that's right Frasier reminisces to Niles about Bob Vernon and Sergeant Michelle hosting the Christmas parade Marty is upset his favorite beer is disingenued and Kelly arrives to be wooed by Frasier who has prepared banter I love this scene I'll come right out and say I love the scene I love how hard Frasier tried to cook whatever the cowboy hobo casserole yes sorry I didn't hobo casserole I loved that the cowboy is probably also hobo to be fair he also made the potato chip salad that's right oh I loved all of that effort and that was just that was unique that was different and that was funny asking for a friend are those real dishes I did google it because I have a history Sneha of sometimes making the food referenced on this show specifically the weird food reference on this show and actually making it and trying it but today he's letting us down I am letting you down so first of all hobo casserole it does appear to be a thing it just looks like a kind of boring midwestern like 1970s casserole growing up in Pittsburgh I used to get the hobo omelet at one at our favorite late night diner and it was it was amazing well that sounds good the hobo casserole looked really bland and terrible so I didn't make it potato chip salad didn't appear to be a thing although there were for some reason there was like an Indian dish that was related to I don't think that's what she was going for though and then the third thing I considered was so Marty is upset that his brand of beer Ballantyne's has been discontinued and I found out that is a real brand of beer that existed that is not just a made-up brand it's a weird moment to that right because we've never heard this brand before and he's like I can't be around my family without this like what am I gonna do he seems to have gotten over it like the next day yes just with just a Miller Lite or whatever I thought because it's a real brand I looked into it it it got it's been discontinued and revived I think several times it is not currently in circulation I was not able to get a sixer is it just like a regular lager or what like what are we dealing with yeah I mean it's basically your old style your Pabst Blue Ribbon that kind of thing yes your old style Pabst Blue Ribbon Chicago is being invaded by people from New York and LA who want our old style and old style life why because they don't have a double brewed beer with a big taste that's why not missing much then yeah this is Marty he's you don't know him that well he has bad taste he's kind of the worst I'm gonna defend him this time I just think he knows what he likes and he he just drinks it like a four-year-old it's fine I'm sorry a four-year-old you should not be giving a four-year-old six-year-old should not be drinking beer old style it's our great beer and they can't have it can we talk about um Daphne in this a little bit I assume you're going to the runner we've been dealing with here yes I want to kind of get Sneha's gauge for this but I'm not asking right one is I felt like there was a little bit of a baby bump that I saw did not pay attention to the bump whatsoever we should either explain to Sneha what we mean or just talk around her to see if she figures it out well either way is fine go around her she's our guest Brad you don't think I know what a baby bump is so Sneha when women get it's a word called pregnant and so what did you think of Roz here Sneha let's just ask a general question Daphne sorry Daphne sorry you're right I still get them confused I learn their names together and I like I swap them a lot I thought she was just an average average girl next door you know hanging out with Frazier's brother does it feel like we're gonna do seven episodes the next seven episodes about how she's getting fatter no really that's what we've been doing oh god and I can't tell if we just started it if this is the actual start or if this was just another uh we're gonna do this again next episode because it does feel like it's very lightly touched on here and I do think that this is earlier in the pregnancy but it is hard to say if we've got one more week or six more weeks of these horrible fat jokes and they were they was very tame here right it was mild did we see Daphne drink alcohol on this that's a fun question because that's the tell but to be fair her character isn't yes Sneha real life she is pregnant and they've chosen to handle that by just making her fat on the show that's one way to do it do you approve of this method I think so in the 90s sure okay yeah you know fair enough Sneha's like anything before 2005 is who cares it's truly yeah in the 90s man all bets are off this is technically not the 90s this is firmly 2000s and 2001 oh this is our first episode in 2000 curtis like that's really that's true which everyone knows is the late 90s so you're wrong Curt wait till season seven when we get to the 90s that'll be a huge celebration you commented how much you loved the scene Sneha I'm curious your take on the banter have you ever seen 80 beavers march in perfect rhythm oh fraser everyone knows beavers can't march oh they can when they're the marching beavers of the riverside high school band hey you tricked me sorry kelly but how about those incredible formations they're so precise well that doesn't surprise me frage after all the beaver is nature's first engineer that's nice banter because this beaver story i love the way the woman at the end kind of deadpanned that's good banter but i did not think it was i actually loved the banter i thought it was clever i love that he prepared it i love that they practiced it and i love that they delivered it same as what they would at the actual parade i actually laughed out loud at the banter it definitely wasn't laugh out loud that's an insane response but it was i thought it was fine i don't know why Curt's acting like it was the worst parade banter he's ever heard i don't know what he's looking for in fairness i don't ever watch parades on tv so i guess i don't really know what banter is banter Curt is when two people fantastic i think you saw yourself in fraser in this scene because the way he opens we he does that i hope you have the presence of mind for presence of mind that's such a curtis line it is such a i think he heard it and he got disgusted with himself much like fraser i would have crafted it and really thought about it and then waited for the opportunity to say it is that a traditional christmas joke that you guys say to your families every year that's a sheck family joke because again his family all had to watch fraser that was a growing up requirement that's not a normal christmas thing brad we were all homeschooled and mostly the homeschooling was sitting down in front of the television and watching fraser do you think they started saying it after they watched this episode or you think they started saying it before felt so validated once they saw this episode yeah i think all of them felt seen and then they started doing that going forward fraser announces his co-hosting duties right before kenny alerts him that kelly was food poisoned and must bow out mary is taking over absolute hilarious turn of events i mean did you see this coming i did not i did not that's so delightful what's the implication of the joke is it that fraser's a bad cook or that these recipes are such an abomination that that they poisoned her or number three fraser doesn't wash his hands before cooking oh unlikely number three but interesting if you had said niles would be out niles washes his hands just looking at food fraser technically we don't know we don't know or what if this was fraser's strategy that's interesting to single-handedly take this on because he says he wants to work with kelly but really the backstory we get he just wants to do the parade he just wants to do the parade i'm not sure it holds up because i think he knew it was going well he had not served the hobo casserole before they did the banter bit and i think it was clear at that point he was doing well i don't think he would have risked food poisoning on purpose he actually really liked the woman as well too that's fair the banter the banter did highlight that they were working well and that was gonna be a success we all agree the elite banter that everyone loved without any any admonishment was really good and that would have been nice to say we can all agree on that while he's introducing this he needs roz to sort of ask the question so he can talk about the thing and she's so checked out on this episode of fraser's radio show she's reading uh dr mary's book she's completely ignoring him and then at one point she has to get out a bell like christmas bells and start jingling christmas bells and she's so out of it when she does it i just really love roz in this scene why is she checked out i didn't really understand that she was reading dr mary's book or bread for the soul i missed that that's what was happening so she was just locked in on dr mary advice is that it i think she's also just like she just does not give a shit about fraser's little parade like i think she's just like i don't care about this and he's making me like engage with him and he's probably been practicing banter on her all morning she's just like over it that's what i assumed yeah he probably just ran that beaver line 35 times do you think there's a part of roz that wanted to co-host the parade not even a little bit i don't think so either but she gets some ambition to do new stuff what like two episodes from now with the astronauts so like this is maybe stay on that's got to be a crazy sentence to hear when you don't know the context of what that episode is like she does she she branches out and that's very not long after this despite how quickly those guys dismissed it sneha i think there's a chance ryan you alluded to earlier making kenny look kind of really competent in this episode i am delighted with him in this scene too because he has to like he goes in kind of saying this woman is laid up sick but you know we don't know who's replacing her but we're gonna find somebody like he's playing it cool he's not giving away right away that this woman dr mary that he knows fraser's sort of annoyed by is the woman but then it becomes instantly clear that she's the one and he just very slyly says i'll let you know if i hear anything yeah it did display some of his competence while being i think closer to laugh out loud funny here really enjoyed this bit it's one of the few times that the the full window radio set has really paid off i think right yeah well sneha you're a scientist can we just do that for anything we need an expertise on yeah do it well so food poisoning i always think of food poisoning as something that like affects you immediately after the meal and kind of goes away after at most a day is this something you're gonna be laid up for days over well that's not food poisoning that is that is some rat poison in your food that's still food poisoning but not the traditional usage that is intentional that's medieval poisoning no i don't think that's true i i've i've had some a stomach bug go three or four days it can shake you okay what did you eat to shake you like that i don't know but it's like i've always felt like i've had an iron stomach and then it was i was laid up for yeah i think it was four days i was like i'm never making fun of anyone ever again this is so miserable i can't get out of bed i think i'm dying and i just didn't end could have been covid could have been covid it was pre-covid i think oh maybe it was started covid could have started covid did i start coping are you a scientist did i start that it does make sense that if anyone's very cold it'll be ryan since so that makes sense it would be i have seen ryan try to drink soup off of his elbow very true i don't know if that's true but i wouldn't try that i have seen it seems functionally impossible i don't think you can reach your elbow no no no he did she didn't say i landed this she said i tried it's etched in my brains fraser readies himself for the parade but cannot help being frustrated he is stuck with mary daphne and niles convince marty to open his present early a six or a valentine's but he demands they also open presents with him i think it's generous that daphne and niles convince marty to open his present and then it's generous of marty to say oh no no you you guys do it with me i i think that's i think that's a good sign was it above ward i'm part of a family that has long since let go of doing holidays on the specific day so the idea of doing presents early doesn't really bother me i know it's different because they're excluding fraser so he's not really part of it right it's not them doing it early i think that it is a really relatable situation like it is a reasonable thing like they're gonna sit and watch the parade they've got the beer in the fridge you know it makes sense to like offer it up early well especially when you know your dad's gonna be miserable if he doesn't get his balance right parade just won't be the same without valentine do you want to hear your dad bitch about it for six more hours or do you just want to shove the six back in his face well and say how it's important that you know marty's one of the worst people we've ever seen in television history so like could you imagine if he didn't have his six back well and and that he wants them to do it with him is is great and i think it's like of course one of the present this is definitely a shuck thing like one of the presents is batteries and you open them in the wrong order you don't wrap up the batteries separate that's a crazy move it is a crazy move i've definitely had presents i've given or been given that is like a two-part gift like open this one first and then open that one but i never batteries i've never done that with batteries i think i'm gonna do batteries this year everyone's getting batteries i'm inspired i could do that for one of my nights yeah it still doesn't make sense you tape the batteries to the present guys if you're gonna do that if you're gonna include batteries let them scavenge for their own batteries also like it's fine more to open i assume you liked the joke about them uh storing the beer in the vegetable crisper because they know that marty will never look in there i didn't i did i like is anything the same to you without valentine sure lots of stuff no not really that's why he's such a miserable prick the rest of the the series maybe this is the turning point maybe we're in the era of valentine's he's got his beer he's a happy camper every episode just opens with him drinking a beer ryan's like oh god he's gonna be good guy now we see this magnanimous like very fatherly you're gonna open presents with me like i'm not gonna do it i'm not gonna be the only one opening you're gonna get to join in this fun like we we don't see any of the sort of nasty marty that we see the rest of the series even the the fat jokes in this episode are not coming from marty oh my god like this might be the turning point he was pretty tolerable oh no i mean that's called alcoholism guys yeah and it makes for great comedy no not really it helps explain the next three seasons and why you guys think you love him you just love to drunk that's all if we really don't hit see any more hints of like asshole marty for the rest of the series it is a dark mark to realize that was the difference maker well how else do you want it to manifest like you want to just love a monster like i was expecting it to be a slow i thought like over the next like three seasons he would slowly get better and better and if it's like a flipping of a switch because he's um going through withdrawals the rest of the series like wow what a dark theme to put into a sitcom i'm rooting for it we get a title card merry christmas at the parade fraser brings historical non-fiction to parade commentary dr mary manages to bring to life the proceedings much to his chagrin the rest of the family got carried away and opened everything how fun of a name is managua nicaragua you know i like the way that sounds managua nicaragua sounds like the name of a fine latino man it's a fun name i looked it up it is not a sister city with seattle and seattle has 20 sister cities that's wild is it a real city yes i've heard of it well you know what though i've also grew up watching this show so it's possible i only have heard of it because of this episode of television ryan do you know any of the cities that you've lived in any of your sister cities i know some of my sister cities so that's why i asked tell us bradley what is the sister city to baltimore zyman fuzhan china you guys just hear bradley making stuff up it sounds like a wikipedia page is being pulled up brad can't read that's not it i know this from friend of the show to metali steered is odessa is one of our sister cities too this is good pod loosen up Curt will you relax fine i'll be that guy going back to the scene aren't you upset that we didn't really get to see floor reporter mike a float reporter mike i would have loved to see float reporter mike or floor reporter mike yeah that would have been cool too i totally missed that part that's when they cut to him and that's when fraser tries to like tell her to uh not ad-lib and the guy comes up and says you should ad-lib more and that fraser needs to lighten up yeah yeah he was reading off the cue cards too much or the teleporter whatever it was yeah or like the script he hand wrote out it's very confusing what he's actually presenting with the problem is fraser i don't believe he has that skill set like the way mary's just in the moment and like reacting to things and and having a good time like he doesn't have that gear so like he needs either the written banter or he's gonna flail so he's flailing it's an interesting insight into fraser as a character just what you just said Curt you know how he needs preparation to be to even pretend to be spontaneous to be even pretend to be entertaining that tells me about all i need to know about this show well and like to be clear like he might be able to like go off the cuff if he's talking about wine or opera or something he's like passionate about but like things that normal people like like cute christmas parades like he only knows it through the lens of like honor and tradition and like he only knows it as this weird stuffy thing he doesn't know how to do it in a genuine way i don't know if i agree we see we see him ad lib and go off the cuff plenty i think why he struggles here is because he's so nervous because he really does want to get this right like he is we we see the connection here we know why he wants to nail this they explain it very well that's fair like it's clearly something that he's interested in so i think there is nerves getting he cares a lot about getting it right which is something we're not used to right so you're saying then he's overthinking it and i think so yeah yeah we've all been there and dr mary is a loose like she's not a bad loose cannon but she is a loose cannon so like he doesn't know what to expect from her if it was um kelly kirkland he was working off of who he had studied and he knew her her recipes and he knew her show and he knew her inside out like if she ad-libbed he'd probably be able to go with it but he's just so frazzled by mary yeah that's fair i think she's a little too sort of opposite of fraser yes i think i think that's the the two opposites are not attracting in this case they are truly not complimentary it's funny you say that because i don't think she minds fraser at all especially at this point she doesn't she seems cool in any situation though yeah she she doesn't she doesn't feel like he's a threat to her he however has major issues with her calling herself a doctor all the way from the first scene until now yeah that's fair they build up that equity she does mention in the first scene that she knows the last time they met like it didn't get along that great or he didn't like her very much like i think she's also aware of that side of it and i feel like what's happening in part is that she is trying to be deferential to him like when he says don't ad-lib she doesn't push back at all she's like okay good idea like i will stick to the script it's only when the producers say no no ad-lib we like it that she kind of goes back to being herself and like later she's gonna be asked for him to just do the solo santa interview and she's gonna be amenable to that like she is in addition to not doing anything wrong she's also trying to play nice with him on his terms yeah that's a good point she's trying to make amends for starting off on the wrong foot i'm starting to like dr mary oh i'm a big dr mary fan over here i believe there was talk at one point of a dr mary spinoff and i'm deeply saddened that that never got off the ground would watch i would watch too it would be really funny ryan if we never see her uh and this is her first episode it'd be weird yeah the way they referred to her you know maybe she's in for a whole season maybe well per wikipedia no don't say it no we're not allowed to do the spoilers we'll say it dr mary is having a blast fraser complains to roz that she's taken over when he asks to interview santa exclusively she graciously obliges but when santa draws her in fraser assaults him with a microphone another example of dr mary making amends with fraser yes trying certainly trying and fraser screwing it up and it is clear right like when the santa part happens santa goes straight for dr mary and i think she's right to like join in like if she just refused to play ball it would have been much weirder obviously what no one no one thinks she should have turned that down Curt i'm just highlighting how appropriate she is being compared to fraser i think it's just her personality she's just written a book she's got fans she's gonna entertain even if it is santa what i do love at the top of the scene coming up a special mystery guest it's santa it is a stupid thing to mystery guest this is a christmas parade like if santa's not there it's it's not a christmas parade i think at that point got you got you how about this is the big deal we saw we not only had three different scenes with roz but we actually got to see a young alice in this episode i don't even remember roz in the scene if i'm gonna be honest with you it's brief yeah he walks off and talks to her oh that's roz yeah yes fair fair question by you it's basically just him on a break going to roz to to bitch and moan about mary and roz very reasonably saying just tell her what you want from her and i'm sure she'll be nice about it and she is by the way the way he goes to dr mary to say can i do the santa interview by myself is so condescending like she's being so gracious he's being such a dick he says to her face i have let you have free reign tonight can i do the santa interview by myself like dude but it's such typical fraser that's how he talks to people especially if he especially if he doesn't like them it's just typical fraser doesn't make it any less of an asshole thank you very much an asshole yes you can feel it though he definitely feels like he was giving her free reign even though it was the producers giving her notes and stuff which is very funny if anything it's her letting him sort of have a sense of control right yes well in his whole like i just don't understand his angle even because when santa asks him about candy and he's like oh it's probably seasonal affective disorder don't give your elves candy that's bad for them like you realize this is not a mental health screening this is a christmas parade that was a weird move i mean i guess he was trying to play to his own personal strengths or like knowledge base but read the room fraser there's a tough luck it's interesting that you know somebody who counsels people on mental health has to be reminded to read the room stay how you're right you should just say allegedly counsels people allegedly we don't want to get in any legal trouble on this podcast yes we do not need your sponsors pulling any sponsorship can you imagine if everything we talked about an episode of a tv show was like what allegedly in this episode what happened allegedly one day one day we'll have to when we get sued the second time you're here to hear first we can take one suing that's just good for business card uh i've never seen a santa be beat up i don't know if this is common but also uh are all santa's that fragile because it felt like he barely hit him oh that's the sign you're taking what a what an anti-christmas stance you've immediately taken i think santa's a total pussy please do not use your brad voice every time you say something negative about santa yeah Curt don't talk about santa that way i'm franta so you thought it was a weak punch that's what i'm hearing what do you think right well i thought it begs a real question the twitter question of the week fraser gets to punch a very famous holiday mascot so which holiday mascot would you punch if you could bradley okay um holiday mascot do you like does like the tooth fairy count or no sure not a holiday but sure i would punch tooth fairy and then rob it that's simple oh oh that's that's dark you'd mug the tooth fairy that's a weird answer that was a really weird answer Curt do better you know what i think i would punch the no that's too gross i was gonna say the oogie boogie man from nightmare before christmas what but yeah that's gross i'm gonna punch jack skellington i think our borderline mascot not even sure that one counts another guy who just doesn't read the room on christmas oh you would put his jack skellington on christmas is what you're saying yeah before he like kidnaps santa or whatever oh you just be part of the movie that's not the question okay interesting dive into that later they have do better than these two i'm sorry for them by the way i think easter bunny because i just don't get the point of easter bunny i don't understand eggs and bunnies correlating to easter i don't get it anyhow let me explain when a mama bunny and a dad a bunny really love each other they lay eggs unlike chicken eggs they're very colorful oh right that was one good answer and two terrible answers if you can do better please tweet us anywhere you can except for for the twitter question of the week after the parade fraser apologizes to mary she forgives him then he meets bob vernon who offers fraser compassion commiseration and collaboration cherry on the top cherry on the top even though he's so dramatic he's good at apologizing but we get a very sincere and genuine apology which is nice it's sincere it's genuine and it's it's fraser and once again reflecting on his actions and then responding very well we do this is definitely a reoccurring theme for fraser he fucks up but he apologizes very well and reflectively only if real life was this way fucks up apologizes everything's back to normal yeah that would be a lot easier maybe we all should work on our apologies maybe we're just not that earnest when we apologize to people look i'm sorry that you don't like my apologies i'm sorry you took that the wrong way Curt but i was just saying i think you could do better how about scandal stolen valor sergeant michelle was not a real sergeant speaking of not real is bob vernon a person i looked this up because i don't know if there is a seattle christmas parade but it sounded like the kind of thing that this could have been like a seattle local tie-in thing it felt like it was not it is entirely made up for this show it felt like as soon as he shows up on screen he he seemed like that guy it was like oh that's definitely a guy who's done christmas permits and he was clearly not like played by some kind of stunt cat like they didn't get like i don't know christopher walken or something to like come on me the show and play this big part so like the only reason he has reverence is because fraser gives him reverence it's not because he's somebody we should be excited about that's good to know it made it seem like it was a this was a known name that's what i felt like too curtis how mad were you that the beaver joke comes back i was a little disappointed not only did i not love it the first time i think we get three cracks at that beaver commentary and i wish we got different banter like i it doesn't have to be better than the beaver banter but i i would have liked a little more variety in the things he chose to read that's of course you're saying that running it back i thought was way funnier loved it when he did it sincerely here at the end and fraser's still so into it which does sound like we've taken opposite stances tonight Curt so i don't know maybe it's a christmas miracle tis a miracle tis the season fraser plays this out with the family reopening the presents only to find they've mislabeled them it's it's a good way to tie up that gag i thought so the only way to do it is to do the seahawks hat i don't know how strong of a joke it is but they executed it as well as i think they could have i i like that yeah it's when they were still in afc ryan old school seahawks logo okay bradley yeah do you think that fraser kind of realized that it was a mislabel because on the one hand you could read his expression as i have to pretend like i like this terrible gift but i also kind of felt like there was a glint in his eye that suggested i'm putting this on as a laugh because i know that this was clearly not meant for me i i took it more if he's just like given up on getting good gifts so he was fine that's kind of how i read it as i think he had given up on christmas that went out the window and he punched santa correct oh do you feel like maybe he felt like he deserved this a pen and hat yeah all right i like that well sneha did we deserve this episode what did you think of this this was one of the better episodes i thought of the two that i've seen i definitely you're ranking this is number one god my scale for fraser episodes is meh to omg this would land i don't know somewhere in the middle like ha i like that you're preparing for omg it's a slow walk there it's a slow crawl we're strolling we have to keep having to stay on until we get an omg did you finally label this ha was that what you said this was ha yeah ha a single ha okay i got one chuckle out of it that's much better than before much better yeah yeah last time it was oh my god cringe almost i think if this was worse than the last episode we showed you we would never get you back as a guest it would be the end of you're coming on this show no i would come just to rip it apart there brad what about you you're gonna rip this one apart curtis thank you so much for that intro i appreciate that man i really liked this episode you know i like the way they interfuse christmas i like the b plot of the whole gift exchange gone gone bonanza so i'm gonna give this uh brad's score of boom boom boom an a just today wow an a wow a really high yeah yeah it's not a name it's like it's at least a top 10 episode for you i would say so oh wow uh absolutely curtis mcgee what do you give the score my g i struggled with this one in part because sneha my ranking is i literally rank every single episode we watch against every other episode which is a nightmare to do and it is every time i stare at my list i'm like what is this ranking why is this here why is that there beats don't make sense next to each other it's a terrible list but this one i struggled with i i felt like it could have gone just depending on my mood when watching it it could have gone higher could have gone lower this one was a little bit lower 62 out of 99 um i definitely think it's a middle of the pack episode but i i like it i enjoy it it's not my favorite of the christmas episodes oh whoa six you say 62 yeah i know brad put this as a top 10 you put it as 62 sneha even said it's one of the best she's ever seen yeah this is one of brad's top 10 well ryan i'm curious what you will think of this comparison though because the episode that i think it isn't as good as is wheels of fortune with batman oh the one with michael keaton michael keaton it's the one with michael keaton oh i think that's better than this well yeah probably but why is that at 61 is the question yeah you work from bottom up when you do this it's a bad system those two near each other i think they're very comparable they're just not 61 and 62 yeah yeah keaton was that one of the better episodes with us that's wild it's better than mother load the two-parter with uh the mom yeah but by like a long shot huh that's weird Curt you're weird man i don't know uh i think brad and sneha are much closer than you uh i get i really enjoyed this episode i gave it a 7 7 it's got a lot of the things we like it's fraser having full-blown meltdowns and sincere fraser bits uh obviously we had dr mary she was incredible niles was only here for like a little bit but he was weird in a good way marty was drunk and not a monster how fun was that another very different christmas episode look i thought this was great and a good amount of student for you you know you found out that dr mary's involved somehow yeah yeah maybe we'll see her again that's exciting there's a lot to be excited about a lot to look forward to it's much closer to an a than 62 out of 90 you psychopath fraser admires the seattle christmas parade because it offers a tradition of pride and pageantry and old-fashioned good times we can offer none of those things yet we will throw our own parade anyway let's create a christmas parade so how this is going to work normally we for the segment the the game at the end of the episode we pick uh one sort of game mechanic in order to theme around the episode and this time because christmas you know you're it's a parade with a bunch of different floats you've got presents you're opening that are all unrelated from each other we are going to do several mini games instead so first up we're going to build the best float uh obviously we need to build the world's greatest float for our parade so let's start with a theme what would you theme your float around is for a christmas parade christmas parade yeah it kicks us off brad long time christmas observer i'm going to go with the theme of gingerbread man that's going to be the theme of this because i know what that is so not what i was expecting yes that's a good one let's hear yours ryan jungle balls what uh give us more so like jingle bells are a famous thing this is jungle ball so it's close i like how your explanation was just it sounds like something christmassy i'm paying broad strokes so you guys can fill in the canvas you know i went a little different with this one so sneha i don't think you would have known this but i famously this year tried to do a dry 2025 um just no alcohol the whole year how annoying about it and he talks about it every time he talks about it more than he passed on tricks made it to july oh you made it to july i thought you got to september okay well july i i didn't count because i i did go on vacation and just treated it like vacation doesn't count which it doesn't that part's fine yeah but then sometime in the early fall the pumpkin beer came out the the october fest came out i i was suddenly very tempted just decided to enjoy delicious beers so fell off the wagon or got on it i don't know which i haven't had a drink since 2024 whoa well didn't we drink with you at curtis's wedding oh this is 20 no i was pregnant i was pregnant oh there was a bump i think we have to say allegedly allegedly the allegedly bump my theme is just alcohol i think alcohol is a great theme for a float oh that's where you're going with that okay i don't know if i agree but okay you can do worse i mean so so this is hard but this whole year since summer the theme in my household of anything and everything is fucking k-pop oh are you guys doing k-pop demon hunter yes big time oh we just we just watched it oh my god what a what an experience we've seen it a thousand times so that's why mine would be k-pop k-pop's a good theme yeah not just demon hunters just k-pop in general you know what there's nothing better than four people that are in their mid-30s talking about k-pop so let's go with k-pop let's go cape i'm in k-pop's again that's that's a good theme people will be excited it'll be popular too it would be popular that's what the pop means Curt yeah okay so next up we have to kind of come up with the decor what are we gonna put for the k-pop decor okay i know you said no demon hunters but what if it's a demon hunters theme and santa's the demon with the patterns yes with the patterns which won't mean anything to these two those dumb idiots have no idea stupid dummies i don't care if they believe me i have huntix on my side will santa be uh uh like costume somebody wears or will it be like a statue type thing on the float i think it would be a balloon that's flying because it's the demon oh that actually is really good will it be an anime style of of santa yeah yeah yeah but demon hunters is not anime is it very anime what are you talking about okay did you think it was real people i knew it wasn't real people but i didn't think it was anime style oh yeah it's incredibly anime so that's fun so we've got we've got a awesome floating santa demon above us it's actually something so great what are we gonna be throwing what candy to throw that's a great question curtis thank you for asking because you've got to have something to throw to the crowd right i don't think it has to be candy but no Curt we're doing the opposite we're handing the people projectiles and then when santa demon pops it's like a pinata and candy goes everywhere oh you're missing two traditions but you know uh let's do it well i kind of like it because i was going to suggest something a little bit different i was going to say everybody loves a t-shirt cannon so i was going to suggest let's shoot some t-shirts out at the crowd but you're kind of saying the opposite that we give the guns to the crowd to shoot at the demon yes give them the t-shirt cannon it should still be t-shirts though like think about t-shirts bouncing off the balloon and landing in the crowd that's fun eventually it'll still pop that is really fun oh look at you thinking about the people curtis this is a whole new you also putting the pop in k-pop oh this is gonna be so easy because the last thing we have to decide on is what kind of music we're gonna blast i think mid-90s r&b is the only choice right that was a well-crafted joke or or wait what if we were a k-pop demon hunter theme and we were at country music that would be even more confusing oh you spelled country with a k perfect oh my god yes yes yes and somehow you had like a cool like dj mess with it and it's like country k-pop that'd be that'd be pretty good i don't know what throw in you just put in there but yes i am in on country k-pop country k-pop i think that's our music i think we've landed it country k-pop i really genuinely want to see this flat just to summarize we've got a k-pop theme float with a balloon rising out of it filled with candy uh the balloon is shaped like an anime demon santa and we're gonna pass out to the crowd t-shirt cannons to shoot at the santa to pinata out the candy and the whole time we're just dancing on the flatbed truck to country k-pop i genuinely think this is the greatest thing we've ever come up with this might be how the podcast ends i don't think we can top this we're starting out strong this has been one of four what's wrong with you i'm loving this i let's let's keep it going Curtis keep it fun man keep the energy up so we already talked about balloons a little bit because balloons are a big part of a parade i've never thought that till till you pitched this to us i was like i guess they're a part of the macy's day parade really just that parade but i mean we're throwing a parade let's go all the way right you're right yeah that i like what is the character in pop culture you want to be balloonified and you can only give us one word and then the rest of us are gonna have to guess what your guy is this is a hard one i can go first i'm ready go ahead my word is cat Curt i swear to god this is your fucking cat is this hello kitty it is not hello kitty oh it's not is it the cat from cats uh no just to be clear you did guess hello kitty i just want to be really clear my cat is not named after hello kitty but hello kitty character karobi do you know what this means that i can stay home and play my guitar whatever and ryan you said i was gonna do it after my cat i did not it will be the cartoon character not my cat itself oh you're the worst who's next i have one is yours good i think so i'll go first uh invisible john cena yes no you nailed it god nerds you guys know each other way too well i don't think me and brett have ever talked about john cena ever yeah uh-huh lasagna carfield carfield yep i was better than ryan i wasn't now bring us home i don't think it's gonna be a person i think it's gonna be a monument what is that your one word is monument yeah like the washington monument is it mount rushmore no i feel like the most recent monument in dc was the martin luther king monument are you are you doing martin luther king who said it was the most recent one chicago b do we have any other hint why was the statue of liberty it's why we're all conversing today oh that's confusing discord no dr fraser craint the seattle space needle you guys we started the show with the space needle that's lit up like the christmas tree new plan we are no longer you can still shoot the t-shirt cannon at our balloon but that's not gonna pop it t-shirts are soft the space needle is gonna come in like the needle first and stab our floating santa yeah stab santa ray in the heart amazing where is he stabbing because sneha said in the heart which makes sense but this is like a float i kind of assume santa was facing down the space needle is gonna be horizontal not vertical yes yes it's a balloon with a point it'll have a pointy end is it coming up from the ground is my question it'll be behind santa and then the people pulling the balloon will just move up closer and it'll just i kind of think we're just ramming santa's bum aren't we yeah is that not the plan i thought that was entirely what we're doing okay all right next up we're gonna do an interview with santa any good parade must conclude with a wonderful santa appearance we have some bad news though the only person who applied to be our santa is brad is it better to have a brad santa or no santa it's kind of 50 50 oh i like that let's ask him a few questions and try to figure out how he would answer and whether we want him as our santa ho ho ho ho ho it's santa brad i'm so excited to hear your questions rough start you shouldn't be calling yourself santa brad you should just say santa or brad santa oh ho ho ho it's brad santa feels right it's just on brad children in the amish what questions do you have say any amish yeah is that what is that what santa does santa what do you do with the cookies that we leave out for you i'm too blind to see the cookies no i'm just kidding i love the cookies i eat one cookie and then give it to my elves you give the cookie you ate to your elves that's a disturbing order what like you regurgitate it you masticate it are your elves like little baby birds are you trying to say the reindeer are you getting your christmas things mixed up probably no no i mean if i have multiple cookies i give them to the elves like when you get back to the north pole yes i put them in my cookie sack that's what i call my belly as well do you guys have some questions for santa yeah why are you dressed in red what's up with that because why are you also talking like a ghost what is this oh because it symbolizes the joy and hearts the joy of people's hearts in uh getting excited for santa you went with blood joy of people's hearts why don't you shave when i do shave my beard just comes right back i've seen the santa claus multiple times the movie i'm actually surprised to hear that also honestly i thought this would be a much worse interview i think we just got the job what do you guys say i think so too i'm not letting him around children if that's what you're asking not unless he grabs a six pack yeah give him some valentines maybe we'll see all right well uh we got some good news and some bad news the good news is we're just about ready to get going with the parade the bad news is that we received a bomb threat so one of the many floats we have has been threatened and we have to figure out which one um we're gonna decide which one we should uh intentionally blow up to prevent it accidentally blowing up but we don't know exactly which one it is so what what are we doing you want to intentionally blow something up so it doesn't accidentally blow up what are you talking about you know how in the airport if they see a bag that's been left alone they're like that might be a bomb so they take it outside and they blow it up on the premise that it might be a bomb is that a thing i don't think that happens as much as you think what do you do what procedure are you describing i think it's very common i don't think it's as common as you think have you seen this my god hike that's the bomb squad there's a bomb no no it's not a bomb it's a turkey it's a smoked turkey you idiot we're gonna blob some floats and we're gonna do it to find out which one is actually got explosives on it so okay i'm gonna start by giving you the list of the floats that we've got in our parade so far so first off there is our amazing k-pop float obviously we also have a cocoa float fraser loves hot cocoa it's referenced many times in this show so i thought we should have a big hot tub of cocoa with giant marshmallow men melting into it okay next up there is a cheers bar float this will be populated by some of the least popular cheers cast members boom like paul cliff oh i don't think you can include cliff i love it would just be everyone else from the bar and fraser yeah fraser's on it we also have santa brad obviously he is gonna be on one of the floats let's just be safe and blow that one up first well i want to be clear if we do decide to blow that one up what will happen is brad no longer gets to participate in this game and vote let's find out what our other floats are do we have more we also have a gingerbread nakatomi tower from diehard float yeah sick another thing fraser loves is sweaters we have a giant christmas sweater with a petting zoo of andalusian mountain goats why so specific it's a reference to an episode but can you explain what the hell you're talking about what do you mean it's a sweater float so the front of the float looks like a big christmas sweater and then in the flatbed in the center is a bunch of goats what are you what are you describing it makes sense everybody can picture it in their mind's eye two more we've got a stage float where the high school musical cast is singing winter musicale songs okay okay i like what you're doing here now that's up on my list we have a float with david hyde pierce wearing a tropical shirt and standing on a flatbread full of sand it's island niles i'm sorry you said standing on a flatbread is that what i heard i heard bread no a flatbed truck you don't listen to a flatbread truck i swear to god i heard flatbread and i thought that was interesting the man has to have a lunch can you yeah can you be right where it's a flatbread because i think that helps okay so now it was weird loose that we have to figure it out okay oh no no we're no we get to blow one up at the gate right sure if you want to use one boat brad no the sweater abomination yeah you gotta blow up the sweater absolutely i think the high school musical goes i mean i've seen all the movies so that makes sense well you've been outvoted though i mean brad can be swung brad can be swung uh no no no we're getting we're getting rid of the sweater goat thing i don't need any animals animals go crazy at parades oh you should get it for practical reasons i just did it conceptually okay we have blown it up unfortunately there was no actual explosive on it yeah no harm no foul we did get this from the manifesto left by the the bomber he says it's fitting i'll take down this float in this season very blue oh sweater one the fittings out sweater yeah there's a red herring for some reason i didn't realize there was a bomber in this scenario yeah why is there death and peril because it's christmas do we have to use that clue to figure out the next one yeah okay it's just sweater one we blew up the sweater one so it can't be the sweater one you think it's the david high pierce one let's catch stay hot a lot of these are all references to things we've talked about in the past oh yeah the season starts with them going to the caribbean but niles was island niles in the next season so that's out oh you're right high school musical is what we did over the summer not relevant to this season we already blew up the sweater one so that's out and there was other ones the hot cocoa one and cheers oh the cheers one was this season wasn't it no i don't think so i think it was season nine oh maybe you're right it was season nine cheerful goodbyes and the hot cocoa thing maybe it's that ryan they refer to cocoa a lot and it's annoying because they refer to it just just cocoa and that annoys me every time it comes up a lot no idea if curtis's clues are actually helpful i said let's just go with hot cocoa all right i'm in all right let's do it yeah let's do it i brought you some cocoa took me 1200 years to get it right another float destroyed another senseless waste it was not the bomb but we do have more manifesto he says i don't care how much joy it brings it must go could it be our float it's someone who hates just danny then it's high school musical i say either high school musical or the k-pop one okay well the k-pop one makes no sense for the first clue but people do love k-pop demon hunter it sounds like you want to blow up our own float i'm not opposed to it there's no way he could have made clues around it because he didn't know what it would be but i'm interested anyway yeah let's blow up our float let's do it what a tragic waste it was not our float but we are still uh getting more decoded from his uh cryptic weird uh manifesto i now have this sentence white men always think they're the hero oh yeah high school musical high school musical that's clearly zach efron is it unanimous sneha let's do it oh wait i forgot there was a die hard one in there too cheers santa brad die hard and island niles and high school musical are the ones left i don't think any makes sense for your first clue now that you've reviewed all the floats he probably got the seasons confused it's fine high school musical yeah high hey guys you blew up high school musical and you blew up the bomb it was high school musical the first clue was it's fitting i'll take this float down in this season and by this season i meant winter and the high school musical movie begins in winter oh my god and it's about a winter musicale well it's about the audition to a winter musicale but whatever well you have to explain all the other clues because none of that makes sense now that we've done this so the other clue i don't care how much joy it brings it must go high school musical brings a lot of joy specifically to daniel uh white men always think they're the hero obviously zach efron thinks he's the hero the last two clues by the way we're gonna be it's for kids which makes it extra tragic and when they're gone i'll be the one singing that would have definitely given it away they definitely got more specific as i went along yeah yeah good job well we're gonna carry on with a cheers float a santa brad a die hard float and an island niles float i think we might swap santa brad make him earlier in the parade and kind of close the deal with island niles i think that's a little more festive yes absolutely but the parade will go on as it should but ryan you've been visited by the ghost of christmas yet to come why don't you tell us what to expect next week when we cover the previous episode it's season eight episode seven the new friend fraser befriends some guy named ricky ricky turns out to be a wanted bank robber why which part yeah why what are you asking why to all of it all of it why because ricky's a new friend obviously does that happen to you a lot i don't get new friends no this is an unapproachable situation so i'm doing my best guess here you have no real sense you just like fantasize about cool robbers if someone was like really into being my friend i assume something's wrong with them and i assume they're a serial bank robber well that seems fair anyway that will do it for us thank you so much to sneha for joining us thank you for having me guys i had such a good time yeah sneha anything you want to plug Curt's supposed to ask this but he always you know he doesn't like letting women talk oh what uh i i'd like to make a plug for k-pop demon hunters we're going up up up it's our moment i'm sorry we'll take your money it's fine oh my god if we could get k-pop demon hunter money we'd be we'd be done with the pod we will be done with our job Sneha wants to auction storage lockers for the mystery of treasure or trash, then improvises an auction. Curtis asks the opening question and also wants to be a classic auctioneer. Brad tries baseball commentary featuring himself as the Jewish Hammer hitting a 600-foot home run. Ryan chooses puzzle play-by-play, and he and Brad improvise a broadcast. Their individual short turns are not assigned.

The discussion praises Dr. Mary and Kim Coles, contrasts her easy warmth with Frasier’s guarded behavior, and enjoys Kenny showing competence. Sneha returns after the earlier Harassed discussion; the hosts joke about the entry points they have given her. The hosts debate whether Frasier’s carefully prepared jokes count as good banter and recognize Curtis in his wordplay. Kelly’s food poisoning brings Dr. Mary into the parade; the group considers and challenges theories about the cause. Roz reading Mary’s book and Kenny coyly withholding the replacement news earn praise. Food-poisoning anecdotes remain conversation, not medical advice.

The hosts discuss Niles and Daphne opening presents with Marty, hiding his beer in the vegetable crisper, and wrapping batteries separately. They joke that beer explains Marty being more generous in this episode and wonder whether his earlier behavior will change as the reverse rewatch continues. That is their interpretation, not an established diagnosis.

The group weighs nervousness against Frasier’s need to prepare and argues that Mary repeatedly accommodates him. They enjoy the contrast between his stiff historical commentary and her spontaneous warmth. The Santa interview prompts criticism of Frasier’s condescension and mental-health questions, followed by jokes about his weak microphone attack.

Brad chooses the Tooth Fairy and adds robbery. Curtis withdraws Oogie Boogie as too gross and chooses Jack Skellington before the Santa kidnapping. Sneha chooses the Easter Bunny because the eggs-and-bunnies connection makes no sense to her. Ryan asks the mascot question. The closing “one good answer and two terrible answers” gives no numerical score.

The hosts discuss Frasier apologizing to Mary, her forgiveness, and his disappointment over Bob Vernon’s pen and hat. They debate whether the ending leaves Frasier content or resigned after the Christmas dream has already fallen apart.

Sneha gives “ha” on a meh-to-omg scale and prefers this to her previous guest episode. Brad gives A and treats it as a top-ten contender. Curtis ranks it #62 of 99, below Wheels of Fortune. Ryan praises the meltdowns, sincere moments and Dr. Mary, then gives 7.7, confirmed in the recording.

Comic episode moment
Sneha plugs K-pop Demon Hunters. In the closing callback, Brad and Ryan pitch a puzzle podcast under competing titles, invite Sneha, and joke that guests will be ignored while listeners solve their identities. The others praise Sneha’s transition back to Mary Christmas.

Looking ahead
Ryan predicts Frasier befriending Ricky, a wanted bank robber. He jokes that suspicious friendliness would make him assume someone is a serial bank robber. This is his guess, not a verified synopsis.
