RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Recorded conversation

Winner statement: Frank won. Result qualification: You didn't clean sweep it, but you got it close. The one thing we know is Curt definitely lost. You get some, some credit for the medicine balls. Response context: Frank was left out of that entire discussion, had like a bare bones description, if that, of what this was going to be.

And also explain what that means.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT

In romantic comedies, the meet cute is where the boy meets the girl. That's the moment, the cute moment where they get together. Pauly from the Rocky franchise is drunk off his ass. And he's at the Rhinestone. And Rocky comes in to drag his ass home when he witnesses Freddy sexually harassing Jake. And she shoves him off. And when Freddy tries to pursue her, Rocky sets him straight.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT

So Jake moved to Philly at some point. Freddy in revenge actually buys out Jake's family home and goes to pour clothes on it. She tries to talk him out of it. And because he's become a boxing promoter, jokingly says the only way that he will do it if Jake participates in the celebrity boxing match. And of course she says she'll take that bet. So in Philly, her recording studio shares a thin wall with Rocky's boxing gym, right? And they've been feuding without seeing each other with her loud music and him hitting the punching bag too loud. She finally storms over after being mad about this call with Freddy and meets Rocky, sees that he's a boxer and figures out, oh, I can use him to train for this. Adjudication: That was like the whole, you just laid it out.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT

I think Freddy's going to take Jake to Philly to see the Apollo fight. She just happens to be at the, what, the Philadelphia art museum. When Rocky runs up to the top of the step successfully and he's like pumping his arms up in the air and she thinks he's dancing. I'm going to go over and talk to him.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT

Jake actually makes it big in New York. So she buys it out and she's there late one evening and she accidentally locks herself in the freezer. So she's locked in the freezer and thank God Rocky is there to practice hitting on this meat. And so he actually saves her from being frozen to death in this freezer. Adjudication: I want to see Danny's movie more, but it just would make even less sense than this movie.

Our best montage moment.

Prompt item: Our best montage moment. Adjudication: I don't have a good tiebreaker here. Final adjudication: Me and Frank are going to split the point here. Score effect method: split the point Result qualification: Can we include both?

RECORDED EXCHANGE

Question
Question / challenge

Our best montage moment. Rules: Like, obviously there's going to be a montage. This is a musical, so that's confusing.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT

So it's a jump rope duet. The beat of the rope hitting the ground and their shoes squeaking on the gym floor just gets Jake going. And so Jake starts singing and Rocky just joins in and they just have this jump rope duet in the montage.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT

So I think an amazing moment for the montage will be she takes her bra off, makes Rocky wear it, stuffs it with a couple medicine balls, and that's what she's punching. Answer qualification: She's still got a shirt on. You know, she's not topless.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT

So Rocky is forcing Jake to swallow raw eggs whole while they are rehearsing. Jake is auditioning and has got to practice this really high note. It's going to really coat your throat so you can hit these high notes. Answer qualification: I didn't even get to the best part of that. No, I ain't going to finish it. It's bad. Result qualification: We're trying to make her box.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT

At the end of her montage, she is going to run to the top of the Smoky Mountains. And when she gets there, instead of the fist pump up in the air, she's going to be doing like a little two-step. I want to call it a Texas two-step, but I think it's a Tennessee two-step.

We're going to move on to catchphrase.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT

Hey, Jake, if you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain. Response context: So my catchphrase will be for Rocky to say to Jake to remind her, like, well, she's in her woes.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT

Jolene, don't make me beat your man. Answer qualification: On the fly, I'm going to try. Response context: There's a Jolene character now. That's who Freddie's dating.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT

in this ring, if you lose the rhythm, you lose your teeth. Response context: Yeah, I got one that Rocky will say to Jake in the ring. Adjudication: Danny is the winner on this one.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT

you got to find your range. Response context: Later in the movie, she does the same thing, but for his vocal coaching, as in musical range. Both of them are saying that to each other. Rocky with boxing her about his singing. Adjudication: Once again, we've got a plot problem here.

WHAT THEY BROUGHT

Peaked

Title: Peaked While we were doing the montage where she was running to the top of the Smoky Mountains, she was also slowly getting with Stallone, and she was going to bang him right as she gets to the top of the mountain. Answer qualification: I thought they had to be like cool one word song titles, which will explain my choice.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Title: Defying Gravity Both your word, Peaked, and what you originally started with, which was Gravity, I thought you were going to say that the song is Defying Gravity, but it's about Dolly's boobs. Title: velvet ropes and left hooks 12 rounds to Nashville Answer qualification: I'm going to throw that one in there too. Response context: Isn't also on the boxing ring, are those velvet ropes? Adjudication: 12 rounds to Nashville is so close to winning it, but I, the rhinestone is just.

RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE

Because this is a musical, I do insist that the ring in the boxing match has the velvet ropes.

29:35–29:38: But that's why this is a low light for me.

29:38–29:40: I just don't feel like it fit the characters.

29:41–29:41: No.

29:41–29:44: I can see where they were coming from, but those were throwaway lines, right?

29:44–29:47: It wasn't part of like a big thing of the story.

29:47–29:48: I didn't feel like.

29:48–29:52: So when that, when she started saying all of that, I was like, this is very out of character.

29:52–29:55: They also like just got it on like four minutes ago.

29:55–29:56: Like they.

29:56–29:57: Exactly.

29:57–29:58: They were romantic seconds ago.

29:58–30:00: This now she's like regretting it, I guess.

Movie award

low light

Target: Jake embarrassing Nick in front of his family

Recorded selection and reason: Answer qualification: I was going to go haughty because I thought this was more like negative towards Nick, at least from the notes. But it sounds like everyone agrees that Jake was kind of being a dick here. And she kept building up, building him up, building him up and then just embarrasses him in front of his family.

30:03–30:05: Danny, you tacked on a low light there.

30:05–30:05: All right.

30:05–30:06: Frank, what about you?

30:06–30:07: What do you got?

30:07–30:13: I was going to go haughty because I thought this was more like negative towards Nick, at least from the notes.

30:13–30:17: But it sounds like everyone agrees that Jake was kind of being a dick here.

30:17–30:19: So I mean, it's basically just low light.

30:20–30:22: I mean, Jake spent this entire movie building him up.

30:22–30:24: He he didn't want to do it.

30:24–30:25: He kept thinking it was bad.

30:25–30:30: And she kept building up, building him up, building him up and then just embarrasses him in front of his family.

30:30–30:36: I mean, I get that he was getting a little bit confident, but that didn't feel like the time or place or even needed to do that.

30:36–30:38: The whole scene was just kind of painful.

31:55–31:56: Why are you talking about this?
