Hero Worship
Curtis introduces the episode-inspired activity. Ryan, Curtis and Ethan choose heroes, then answer questions in character. Participants also question whether they should ask as themselves or as their heroes; that universal convention is never settled. This is a noncompetitive role-play with no points or declared winner. Hero selection is setup, followed by one continuing question-and-answer round.

The Human Genome Project
The inaugural question asks for the heroes’ reactions to the Human Genome Project as science and a regulatory challenge. Curtis presents the question. Ryan, as Dempster, calls it garbage, with accent coaching and an Alabama/golf aside interrupting before he returns to the answer. Ethan demonstrates the Knoxville accent. Curtis, as Leslie, enthusiastically supports scientific improvements. Ethan, as Lovell, compares it to being on the precipice of discovery and ends with “Zowie.” He explains that he borrowed the expression from Lovell’s speech honoring Tom Hanks.

Their favorite collected trash
Ryan asks for a favorite piece of trash, then clarifies “ever collected” after the accent distracts the group. Curtis, as Leslie, chooses the trash she removed from Pawnee’s river. Ethan, as Lovell, describes the damaged Apollo 13 craft as a bucket of bolts and quotes the on-screen mother’s washing-machine line. The group corrects John to Jim Lovell.

A perfect day
Ethan says he had prepared the Human Genome question, then asks for a perfect day instead. Ryan’s Dempster imagines a trash-free day thanks to the dumpster. Curtis begins Leslie’s schedule at 4 a.m., revises his rushed delivery, has her at work by 4:12 and in bed at 2 a.m. The others debate her sleep; Curtis adds that a better performance would have included scrapbooking.

I am heroes.” After clarification, he revises: Dempster would throw Ryan in the dumpster because he is trash. When the group calls the scenario murderous, Ryan says no one was murdered. Ethan imagines Lovell recognizing another…

Ethan imagines Lovell recognizing another Ohio Eagle Scout and discussing Tom Hanks. He then takes up a suggested patch and hair-tousling joke. These are continuing, clarified answers rather than separate opportunities.
RECORDED ANSWER / CHOICE
What if they got typhoid?
Ryan asks about typhoid. Ethan predicts Dempster would throw it in the trash. Ryan instead says Dempster would argue with the foremost expert, adding that he survived typhoid before inventing the dumpster. These are claims made in the role-play, not independently checked history. Curtis’s Leslie consults her binders and seeks Ann Perkins’s help. Ryan heckles that she would succumb. Ethan’s Lovell dismisses earthly diseases because he has faced the moon, prompting “space to face.”
